A Stylish Hard Drive...Really?
Review of Freecom Hard Drive Hard drive 160 GB by
lil_deano_lil
Advantages: Plug and Play, Really Fast Doesn't Overheat
Disadvantages: Nothing =D
...Freecom External 3.5" 160GB Hard Drive
I first got the Freecom external hard 160GB hard drive when my internal one on my computer started to get clogged up with applications and other junk. So I decided to go and buy a Freecom external hard drive which is 160 Gigabytes in size.
Since this hard drive is external, it does have to look good and not look like a tack bit of plastic with wires hanging out of it. With Freecom though, performance and design is everything. The hard drive enclosure itself is made of high quality, heat absorbing aluminium which is 20 x 11.5 x 4.5 cm ( or 7.9 x 4.5 x 1.6 inches ) in size. On the front of the hard drive enclosure is a storage LED indicator and on the back there is one ' rocker' power on/off switch, a usb port and a power adapter port. This hard drive has been givin five awards including...

160gb SATA HDD
Review of Maxtor DiamondMax 10 160 GB by
njt6
Advantages: fair amount of storage space for price
Disadvantages: Can be a bit noisey at times
...with 80gb Hard drives being the norm in most entry level pc's the price of the 160gb hdd is dropping.
If you are looking for a reliable Hard drive for storage of MP3s, video or even gameing then the 160gb will be up your street. The space on the Drive makes it ideal of an entry level "pvr" system.
I am currently using one of these as a secondary drive. I have so far managed to record 8hrs of tv to it at decent quality and still have plenty of space left.....
The drive Is sata 150 with 8mb cache and 7200rpm spindle.
This enables faster reading and writing to the drive.
You will need to have a System Board that supports sata 150 or purchase a sata pci card if you want to run the drive in an older machine.
You can buy a convetor which will enable you to plug the drive into a normal 40 pin IDE port.
Ther is a warning to this though...

One of the best makers
Review of Seagate Hard drive 160 GB by
robbailey
Advantages: Very Fast, reliable,
Disadvantages: None
...One of the best Hard Drive makers in the business. I have never had any problems with this make of Hard Drive since I have been using them.
Have fitted this make of Hard Drive in nearly every machine I have built for my self and for my customers for around the last six years and don’t think I have had one returned to me that is not working.
Have tried all the other makes of Hard Drives and have had problems in one way or another with them except the Seagate drives....

Internal 80 GB Hard drive.
Review of Acer Hard drive 80 GB by
yassarikhan786
Advantages: Quick transfer speed,
Disadvantages: Fairly Bulky
...What can i say this is an internal had-drive which obviously integrates within a computer system. Nowadays 80GB is not enough for anyone as programs are now increasing in size due to their complexity and what they have to offer.
A hard drive is a non-volatile storage device which stores digitally encoded data on rapidly rotating platters with magnetic surfaces. Non-volatile storage is simply the name given to a storage device which can retain stored data even when not powered. With a volatile storage device being one that can not retain saved data e.g. RAM (Random Access Memory).
I used to have an 80 GB hard drive in the past on my "OLD" PC, which was about 5 years ago. Now i have a 300 GB hard drive which i have to admit is filling up really quickly. Due to the number of files stored e.g music, photo, video etc.
This particular hard...

A very handy external hard disk!
Review of Maxtor OneTouch Hard drive 250 GB by
blue.summer.sky
Advantages: Large and fast removable storage.
Disadvantages: Can get a bit warm during operation.
...I've owned this drive for a few months now. I bought it because I needed a large amount of storage space but didn't need access to the data all the time.
**Size and Speed:**
This "250 GB" drive gives 233 GB of space once formatted. This isn't the largest model on the market; there was a 300 GB model too, but that one only had 2 MB of cache and spins at 5400 rpm, compared to the 8 MB and 7200 rpm spin rate of this drive. This extra speed generally helps files to be accessed faster - I've played plenty of games from this hard disk and compared to my internal hard drive (7200 rpm, ATA100) it's not all that much slower at loading.
**Connections:**
The great thing about this drive is that it has both USB 2.0 (USB 1.1 backward compatible) and IEE1394 "Firewire" connection options. Since my computer is somewhat old and only had USB 1.1 (which...

Great value for money, but maybe a lack of space
Review of Western Digital Passport WDXML800UE 80 GB by
jakepeters
Advantages: Cheap, Sturdy, Reliable, Small, High RPM, Plug and Play
Disadvantages: Lack of space
...I bought this drive to store all of my video and audio (I do a lot of Music Technology) on. It has a fantastic transfer speed and is structurally sound without any loose bits. The rubber around the bottom provides a very sturdy base and absorbs any mild shock that may occur to the device whilst it is in use. At times I actually find that it runs slightly faster and less jittery than my internal laptop hard drive during video playback. The only downside to this product is the size. It has only taken me around five months to occupy 60 gigabytes but it is perfect for mild use. I recommend this product to anyone wanting a reliable hard drive that will last for years and never let you down....

Extra storage when needed
Review of Freecom Hard Drive Hard drive 160 GB by
pehorts
Advantages: plug and play, fast and quiet
Disadvantages: External power supply
...the Freecom 160gb external hard drive is a so easy to set up, just plug into your usb drive and your ready to use.
The main advantage of having an external hard drive is portability, you can store any files or programs and take them with you and plug into any computor with usb 2 ports.
I originally bought mine to store my main hard drive disc image in case i needed to do a complete disc rescue, because it is external it will work even if your main hard drive decides to go belly up.
it is fairly compact at 11.5cm wide
20cm deep
and 4cm high
It does sit nicely on my tower unit and because the colour is a nice matt silver with a black face it does blend in with the other peripherals I have. (all standard grey).
You may think external usb hard drives run slower but this is fast with an average seek time of only 9ms and a track to track...

FreeAgent Go 120 GB
Review of FreeAgent Go 120 GB by
Jammie1000000
Advantages: Very fast, quiet and sleek design
Disadvantages: Could have a bigger capacity
...This external hard drive is perfect for anyone that owns a laptop, although it can also be connected to a PC.
Looks
The looks of this hard drive is minimalistic yet looks modern and sleek with an orange light on the front that glows when in operation. The size of the hard drive is very small, hence being perfect for laptop users as it can easily fit into a laptop bag. The hard drive also makes no sound what-so-ever.
Using the Hard Drive
It is a very easy component to use. All that you need to do is plug it in to your laptop of PC through the USB connector. The USB connector has a data+power cable and a secondary power cable for USB ports that cant supply enough power through the single port. This hard drive only has 120 gb worth of space but it is possible to get upto 160gb if 120gb is too small. Also if the 120gb hard...

Omega Iomega I love you
Review of Iomega MiniMax Desktop Hard Drive Hard drive 250 GB by
Kingkarliii
Advantages: HaLoads of storage space
Disadvantages: Annoying blue light
...the information on two hard drives for a friend so he could put all his files on his new computer without having to burn them all onto discs.
I think this is very cheap considering that it cost the same price as 160 GB Hard Drive of EBay and with 164 GB of free space still I should imagine that I will not need another hard drive for quite some time now
