Advantages: Fast, reliable, can access any time of day free of charge (only if you have a cable telephone and TV), I have not though had to test the technical support service
Disadvantages: Slows down at night through to early morning

...I have been on NTL for about 6 months, and I cannot fault the internet service that they provide. They offer a very cheap, reliable, fast internet service all the time. NTL internet works out cheaper when you actually have the telephone and cable tv. I have not really had any problems as such yet. I access the internet everyday, anytime of the day. During the day, the internet is quite fast, but at night and early hours of the morning, the internet can become quite slow. I cannot comment on the technical services as I have not required its services yet. I would reccommend NTL to anyone that can get it in their area.... Read review

...This is a genuinely good book that backs the trusted trademark of ".. for Dummies" which has proved throughout its series of books that it is the best when it comes to self-help guides. Packed full of internet links to the best of the net and tips on how to get the most of the internet plus explainations on how the internet works. There's also a section on how to optimize your internet connection which is a feature that I have only seen in this book. This will come as no surprise when I advise internet novices to get this book if you are thinking of getting online.... Read review

Disadvantages: no more 24 hours free internet

...Worldonline started very promising but like most internet companies they can't keep their word. When worldonline first took over screaming.net they increased internet speed, made it eaiser to log on and offered customers 24 hours free internet. Six months later, they have increased their monthly line rental from £10 to £15 and have stopped the 24 hours free internet. At present you get 100 hours of free internet calls a month. Although this is more than enough for the average user is it no substitute for 24 hours free internet call. Internet speed is quite fast. Most of the time download rate is around 5.2k.... Of the two, I find Internet Magazine to be by far the most serious, but a great read nonetheless. On buying the magazine, my first read will always be the Home Improvement section. This has, every month, a selection of five or six reader's sites for your perusal. The good thing about this is they get a full review as well as a little "Expert Opinion" box-out. Next on the list are the "Site Surveyor" and "Site of the Month" sections. These both have, really, the same function, being seeing as they are reviews of professionsal sites (often including insights into the making of the sites in question). You simply connect it to your Tva dn phoneline and follow a simple on-screen registration process. When you sign uo you are given a bushinternet email address. There is the option of having 5 addresses per bush internet customer. The internet runs at local rate, which means that it is low cost if used for things like checking emails or quick searches, but expensive when using for long sessions. There is also the fact that the remote controlkeyboard can make writing emails or chatting in chatrooms quite difficult. The keyboard is very small, which slows things down considerably. ...After reading the previous opinion I searched the internet and found Internet Alert on QXL auction. The purchase price was £23.00 inc.p&p which was a substantial saving. I had a minor fault with my unit and the manufacturer sent me the correct cable within two days. The unit is very easy to install and you will never miss a phone call again when on the net.It does not appear to slow down the connection speed and is much easier to use than Internet Call Manager(this was an internet based system and is no longer available) All that's needed is to subscribe to BT Call Waiting and plug the unit in. No further work is required and the unit connects and disconnects automatically and lets you know if some body is calling. I would definitely recomend Internet Alert.... Read review

...I like to buy from the internet, but I've had all sorts of problems with this card. Despite being within credit limit, never missing a payment, always using reputable sites, and entering all details correctly including address and signature strip data, internet transactions always seem to be declined. There's no problem with retail purchases, only internet. I'm told by Capital One that this is due to their points scoring system, and basically it can decline anything if it's internet based! Even when customer services told me they'd over-ridden it for one purchase, it was still declined! The retailer in question stated that if a transaction was declined, it was usually a Capital-One card. Don't bother if you want to use for internet purchases.... Read review

...After recently purchasing a WAP BT cellnet phone, I was quick to sign upto Genie Internet. As well as offering free UK text messaging from the website , you are also given a huge list of topics from which you can have information sent to your phone in the form of text messages. These topics include, sport, entertainment, news, radio, music etc. Signing upto Genie Internet is free and although I have not signed up for their internet access service, I find this site extremely useful for sending text messages and you also get your free Genie Email account.
