taking the tour

Advantages: accessories, ease of use, price
Disadvantages: for some the size might be a put-off

...has a clock and temperature reader. At any point in my journey I can just look down and check the time or when standing outside the school I can know just who cold it is! The wheels turn easily and smoothly. It used to be that some 4-wheel buggies were hard to navigate but this one has no trouble turning a corner. Just to give you an idea I was in town today with my usual Starbucks in one hand and piloting the buggy with the other. I purchased my Graco travel system from Babies R Us for £260 and there was a promotion to get the £100 accessories pack free. There are various Quattro Tour systems and at very different prices. I think the cheapest of which is around £150. The accessories pack made it so I had the buggy itself, the car seat, one car base, changing bag, foot cosy, carrycot attachment, and rain cover. Was a great deal and I saw...

Inverness as a place to visit

Advantages: Plenty activities, good nightlife at weekends, safe, scenic,
Disadvantages: weekday evening entertainment can be a bit poor,

...just opened this year (2008) offering plenty of information on the history of the battle itself and a walk around the battlefield with information tables along the way. (you will notice that you never see any birds flying overhead either, dont really know why but inverness has an abnormal amount of seagulls in the centre which can actually be fun to watch as they are brave enough to take food from your hand at times and can get into a macdonalds box faster than you and i) Fort george is the only working fort left in the uk i believe and has army troops living in it all year round there is however a visitor tour in peak season and is well worth a visit. Distilleries galore to visit if you are into the whisky trail. Tomatin, glenmorangie, dalmore, i'm really not a fan so i can't say too much about them but i know there is plenty of them...

A Tour of La Tour

Advantages: Great views, beautiful at night
Disadvantages: Not good if you're frightened of heights, there are better views of the city,

...around a corner and the Tour Eiffel stood majestically before him. Ah oui... Histoire de la Tour Eiffel There's something magical about the Tour Eiffel. It's become the symbol of Paris, the symbol of France itself, and yet it was never meant to stand for more than a year. It was originally supposed to be erected in Barcelona, but plans designed by Gustave Eiffel were rejected. Construction finally began in Paris, where the tower was to create an entrance archway for the Exposition Universelle in 1889. 120 years later...and the Eiffel Tower continues to stand the test of time, despite being branded an eyesore by many of the great French names of the day. One of its greatest critics was Guy de Maupassant, the French writer who allegedly dined at one of the Eiffel Tower's restaurant every day as it was the only place in Paris where he...

Luxurious Inverness

Advantages: Beautiful Hotel, Fantastic View
Disadvantages: Very Expensive, Location

...The Culloden House Hotel is located just outside Inverness near Culloden Battlefield. We spent a night in the hotel at the end of September. We stayed in one of the Junior Garden Suites. The suite was gorgeous and had two rooms; both the bedroom and the lounge had beautiful views of the grounds. The rooms were large and bright with tasteful decor. The bathroom was enormous and beautifully done in marble. I usually have trouble with hotel beds, but our bed was not too soft and extremely comfortable! I didn't want to leave! The staff is polite, accommodating and very helpful. Unfortunately, since the stay was so short we didn't get the chance to eat in the restaurant - which by all accounts is worth a trip up to Inverness in itself! Therefore, I cannot honestly rate the food as excellent as I didn't try it. The only...

A tour around Loch Ness

Advantages: Beautiful scenery
Disadvantages: Hotel left a bit to be desired

...Loch Ness is arguably the best known of the Scottish lochs, due to the lady who lives there, known as Nessie to her friends! Whether you choose to believe in the existence of the Loch Ness Monster or not is up to you but the beauty of the loch and the surrounding area are undeniable. Loch Ness stretches from Inverness in the north to Fort Augustus in the south, a distance of 24 miles, and it reaches a depth of 754 feet at its deepest point. Is that deep enough to hide a monster? Fort Augustus is a village built around the six locks, which enable boats to make the descent from the Caledonian Canal into Loch Ness. The fort (of Fort Augustus) was built after the Jacobite uprising in 1715 and named after the then Duke of Cumberland, Prince William Augustus. The site of the fort is now occupied by the 19th century St Benedictine’...

Pizza Hut, Inverness

Advantages: Very good value
Disadvantages: Poor service

...There are a few pizza places in Inverness but this is the only one that I take my 5-year old son into as the selection for kids is far better than the others. When you enter Pizza Hut you normally have to wait for a moment to be shown to a seat and then you are left for a few minutes to decide what you want. The selection on the menu is fab - a wide range of starters and pizzas and, if you don't want pizzas, there are pasta dishes. Pizza come in deep pan or traditional and you can get ones to share as well as individual ones. There are also various toppings that you can have, as well as side dishes. Kids menu is good - not just pizzas on it, my son absolutely loves the chicken goujons and potato wedges. There are also a wide selection of drinks, sweets and the ice cream factory. What I love about Pizza Hut is that...

The place to stay when visiting Inverness.

Advantages: Fantastic standard in both the rooms and the restaurant.
Disadvantages: Lack of leisure facilities.

...When my wife was offered a job in Inverness the company offered the whole family a weekend trip for the second interview. So my wife, 8 month daughter and I drove from just outside Edinburgh up to Inverness. When approaching Inverness from the South, on the A9 the hotel is perfectly signposted and cannot be missed. As you drive into the car park you would be forgiven for thinking that the hotel itself does not look anything special. Trust me when I say that it is the outside, and outside of the building only, that will make you think this. We had booked over the phone and when we went to check in something had gone wrong and there was no record of our booking, the start of a bad experience you might think. No, the staff dealt with it, without any fuss or hassle. Another room was booked, we sat and waited in the beautiful...

Grand Tour of LA!

Advantages: get to see lots in short space of time
Disadvantages: don't get much time in each place

...VIP Tours of California - Grand Tour of Los Angeles On my way home from my GAP year away my husband and I decided to stop in LA. We stayed in a Holliday Inn hotel near LAX, once we arrived here we found a brochure on VIP Tours and decided to go on what they call the most popular tour which was called the 'Grand Tour of Los Angeles'. It cost in American dollars $59 (adult) and $40 (child). One American dollar is roughly equal to roughly 0.6 United Kingdom Pounds. It was very easy to book this tour with the representative in our hotel for the next day. We had a few different times we could have chosen to go on out tour. On the morning of the tour a bus lifted us at the hotel and took us to their offices so we could pay for the tour and change buses to start the tour. This annoyed me slightly as I felt that we were wasting my...

A True Magical Mystery Tour!

Advantages: Some good visual aids, fab music and mildly comical
Disadvantages: A lot of rubbish that is hard to ignore...

...THE BEATLES: MAGICAL MYSTERY TOUR WHERE THIS FITS INTO MY BEATLEMANIA MONTH OF MAY: Possibly the greatest failure of the bands career?! (Please note that this is a 'Film Only' review, hopefully displayed in the right section!) It is pretty fair to say that up and until the December of 1967, everything the Beatles touched turned to gold; they'd had over ten number one singles in the UK and albums to add to their resumes with two pretty comical yet critically acclaimed movies. 'A Hard Days Night' and 'Help!' may seem as if they lack plot and depth but in essence what held them together was undeniably the bands music and obvious dry, witty sense of humour. Yet, I don't think anybody was quite prepared for the bands third movie release. 'Magical Mystery Tour', broadcast for the first time on television on Boxing Day 1967, was...

Inverness stay at Maple Court Hotel

Advantages: good view and food
Disadvantages: none

...We stayed at the Maple Court for two nights at the end of October The location was fantastic - a nice 5-10 minute walk from downtown Inverness, along the river Ness. Lots of great restaurants within walking distance The room is large, and very clean. The furnishings are a bit cheap, and the bed is just okay. Sheets and towels were clean and average. The bathroom was very clean. The staff were great, and the morning breakfast was great. The chef will make you whatever you\'d like for breakfast. The food was wonderful with brilliant portions. Everything was fresh and prepared beautifully. The bacon and egg scrambles and salmon crepes were terrific. Gardens and river setting is just out of this world. I would stay there again....
