IOMEGA 500GB EXTERNAL USB HARD DRIVE
Review of Iomega Desktop Hard Drive Value Series Hard drive 500 GB by mrjwood

Advantages: Easy installation, looks good, ease of use
Disadvantages: None found

...I've bought two of these drives now and am very impressed. On opening the box you'll find the following: The drive itself, power supply, USB cable and an instruction leaflet. The drive feels solid and well built, although the aluminium case does have some sharp edges near the front where it joins the plastic bezel. The drive comes formatted to FAT32, but this is easily changed to NTFS. Being a curious sort, I took one apart to find out the manufacturer of the actual drive inside and was happy to find a Seagate Barracuda, not the bottom of the range drive I was expecting! Installation under Windows XP/Vista is a doddle, just plug in the power cable, plug in the USB cable, switch it on and it's automatically detected and ready to go. In use, both drives have proved very reliable, and although transfer speeds over USB 2... Read review

IOMEGA CD-RW 48x24x48 - Sleek,Black,Goes Whirrr!
Review of Iomega ZipCD 48x24x48 External CDRW Drive by purpleduck

Advantages: Quality Build, No messing inside your PC, Bundled Software
Disadvantages: Maybe a bit pricey.

...Having only a 52xCD rom in my rather dull (but quite adequate) IBM workstation I was missing the ability to burn cd’s backing up data important data that I could with previous machines. Not fancying taking the lid of, and removing fiddly blanking plates - scraping skin off my thumbs, I decided upon the external USB approach, since like most, the PC is equipped with a fast USB2.0 interface. The Iomega CD-RW 48x24x48x USB 2.0 drive appeared to be a good choice, Iomega being a well trusted and reliable manufacturer. I paid around £60 , but you may find it cheaper if you shop around. I did come across lesser brands with a similar spec at lower prices, but I felt they would lack the quality. Upon opening, I was presented with a very solid piece of kit in a jet black finish. The box also contained a suitable USB cable, a figure of eight... Read review

Iomega zip very useful and easy
Review of Iomega ZIP 100 MB by joel56

Advantages: easy, quickly, and useful
Disadvantages: diskette expensive

...starting from the software carry out a recording on another support that the hard disk. It is with you to make it handling record the file on the external disc. This reader Zip Ioméga is compatible on PC and Macintosh, indeed the iMac has not a floppy drive. This reader Zip USB is transparent of blue color. With the back, one finds a connector USB. The utilities hardly changed, but it is very significant that you use the correct US pilots of the D-CRom.Readers ZIP comprise themselves a rather effective system of physical locking which makes it possible to protect the backups by password: the majority of the software of filing include this possibility. With this reader, I can move my files in various sites and on several computers. I can share and gather files with friends. The Zip reader does not allow to read diskettes, but it became... Best choice you can make
Review of Iomega Zip 250 MB USB Powered by zedix

Advantages: USB, easy in operation, good design
Disadvantages: expensive media

...This drive has USB interface which makes it easy to intall and makes it truly external drive which you can take from one computer to another just in minutes. I welcomed the fact that now it is 40% smaller and takes the latests 250 MB disks. The MB/price ratio is much better in this case that of a 100 MB media. The drive comes with easy to install software which is full of usefull features including backing up facility which can be made almost automatically. The design of the drive is modern and it makes your desk to look really pleasing. The manual was mainly in digital format on CD-Rom which was well-written. I would definetely suggest this drive as it is future proof and good value for money.... Read review

Old technology
Review of Iomega Zip 250 MB USB Powered by John_severn

Advantages: Hard wearing, faster than floppy disks
Disadvantages: Small storage, Price, compatability

...'s and static memory, Zip technology is dead. The main negatives to the zip drive are its competition: External CD-writes are cheaper, faster and you can then take a written CD to any other PC. Blank CD's and re-writeable CD's on average hold 750MB and cost as little as 50p USB memory can be bought for £25 for 512MB which is super fast and re-writeable, also very compact (never bigger than a keying) and can also be used on any PC with a UB port. Unfortunately this is a negative review, but I wouldn't want anyone to buy the ZIP drive without realising what you can buy which will be faster, cheaper more compatible with other PC's and more compact and practical. Certain people may find a specific use for the Zip drive and use it day to day, but at the price they charge for disks and the speed I see CD's keeping the monopoly here. Even DVD writing... Quality, Affordable Back-Up Hard Drive
Review of Iomega HDD External Desktop Hard Drive 320 GB by robert232

Advantages: Very Fast, Efficient, Stylish, Easy Installation
Disadvantages: Only a minor point the 1m usb cable

...I needed a fast and efficient external hard drive for doing full and incremental backups of my networked computer systems. I did a bit of research first before deciding on this Iomega product. It costs £58.95 from ebuyer with £10 (£48.95)off for using google checkout and at only 18p per GB you cant get much better than that at the moment. The Iomega drive comes in a very classy and stylish silver/aluminium casing which you can mount on the included stand or lay flat on your computer desk. Included in the box is a usb cable and a power adaptor and an instruction manual. It is usb 2.0 compatible which means that it has a raw data transfer rate of 480Mbps.It is also backward compatible with usb 1.1 which has a maximum transfer rate of 12Mbits/second. Spindle speed of this drive is 7500rpm.Only negative point is the usb cable could be a bit... Read review

I love it!
Review of Iomega Zip 250 MB USB Powered by pehchiong

Advantages: Fast data transfer
Disadvantages: Pricy device

...I am using the Iomega Zip 250 via USB for my work and I really like this storage device compared to the earlier one, the 100 MB Zip which I find it insufficient at times. The outlook of this portable device is sleek and the blue transparent case gives it some class of its own. It gives fast connection over USB and I have no problems transferring data from my harddisk to the drive. In fact, I could also played music from the zip disc. This storage device is handy if you are planning to move large files or data from one computer to another which is not physically connected at all. I rate the Iomega Zip 250 as one of the best portable storage device that Iomega has ever designed.... Read review

Iomega Zip - Very Reliable how would I live without it?
Review of Iomega ZIP 100 MB by eep362

Advantages: 70 times as much storage as a floppy disk, use unlimited ammount of disks, access files on more than one computer, don't lose your work on rebuild.
Disadvantages: Not all computers have zip drives, disks cost around £7 each.

...I, not long ago had the problem many people face of a Hard Drive that just wasn't big enough. At school there were a few Iomega Zip 100 Parallel Drives, as I also needed to use my computer for school work it was the best choice. Not only is it helpful because of space but also if you want to use a different PC (e.g. a laptop or other computer), it means that all your files are avalible to you. It also helps alot if you need to rebuild your computer, formating your disk doesn't effect your files and if needed you can back up your files. I choose the parallel external version because I knew I might want to use it on different computers and not all of them have scsi or USB, although USB was not avalible when I brought mine. I use one disk continuasly and have done for around a year, it has all my school work and my website on and I have... Read review

An XBOX or what?
Review of Iomega Hard drive 500 GB by thewhitewolf

Advantages: Love the look.
Disadvantages: n/a

...This looks so much like a games console that maybe that was what iomega were trying to build. A better looking model from Iomega than the other 500 GB model, this is a safe solid bet for a hard drive that won't let you down. In testing it performed well and did not overheat or become slow due to the rate of transfer. Design The portable hard drive comes in an attractive black case that has USB2 and FireWire 400 ports. It reminds me of an xbox and is certainly cool to look at. It's about 20 cms long and 10 in depth and weighs a fair bit. It is a desktop drive and can't really be moved around due to its size. Installation The instructions were easy to follow and it installed by windows wizard as soon as i plugged it in, so within 10 minutes i was backing up my files. Performance Performance is good for a portable hard disk... Read review

...to take away?
Review of Iomega Mini USB 2.0 Drive - USB flash drive - 128 MB by tazorii

Advantages: it's a USB key
Disadvantages: Rather limited disk space (now)

...files and totally point less if you have just one file to copy and share. Nomad sharing: With the ever increasing number of PC users through out the world and the requirement for the mobility of file sharing. One would often find they were unable to share a file with another computer. Not everybody has Email. Not everybody is a whiz at networking. Not everybody had CD-RW and external Hard drives were still very difficult to configure. USB keys arrived on the scene. Plug it into a free USB port (plug & play) and you have a removable disk which can be shared on any PC with a USB port. The Iomega 128mb USB key does just that. This great little gadget fills the gap. The Iomega128 mini drive comes in a stylish silver hard plastic and aluminium metal strap to prevent losing the lid and there is also a belt clip. Very light weight and compact... Read review
