Just think of all of the things you can do with a compact computer at the palm of your hands. Write documents and notes when you need to, particularly great when organising your life to put it simpler. I mean, it's far better then a diary because if you're anything like me, you probably end up misplacing your diary and I wouldn't dare think of losing my pocket PC. You can easily access the internet from wherever you are, if you need to look up tube/train times at last minute, you can. If you perhaps want to just research something at a particular moment for example in a pub quiz - I'm not saying you should cheat at pub quizzes or anything - well they're easy anyway...

...This was my frist ever hand held PC! I was absolutely amazed by it's processing power and capabilities as a really small computer system. This comes with 64mb of ram however quite alarge amount of this gets taken up by the sytem itself, so in essence you can only really store two mp3 albums on it's internal memory alone. This wouldn't be an ideal MP3 player or movie player, it'd have to be strictly work and documents! There are many add on programs that you can get for these little critters, my favorite is SPB Pocket plus, you can then add themes, wallpapers and all the system info is included on the desktop. The problem with this compared to todays new PDAs is that it doesn't have wireless or bluetooth connectivity which is a bit of a downside if your using it in conection with your pcs at home or at work and if you want to...

...I have been a fan of the Ipaq since the days of the old Compaq 3600 (way back in the summer of 99!). Since then I have had the Ipaq 5500 (the finger print reader) and now onto my third the new HX4700 (the one with the track pad!). Being familiar with the Ipaq's of old, the first thing I noticed when I unpacked the box was how thin the new Ipaq was, very thin, when compared to my old 5500. The looks though may not be to everyone's tastes, but it does the job. I have noticed though that HP seem to be getting more and more stingy on the "included" accessories. No more slip on case, spare pens nothing! With the 4700 all you get is the one stylus, a docking cradle and a plastic flap/cover for the screen. Hmmmm not looking too good so far then. Once charged - and this was quick about 3hrs! I powered up and immediately saq where...

Advantages: Battery life, Easy synchronisation, WIFI and application compatability
Disadvantages: Not too good speaker quality

...life, even though i have the device set to power off after five minutes of inactivity, it can last for six hours no problem running skype and other programs using WIFI to revcieve calls and such. The protective cover also ensures that you cannot touch the screen while it is in your pocket and protects it from sharp objects. Top device, i highly reccomend it for anybody wanting a reliable and very usefull device....

It is also with noting that the handwriting recognition is not great, but there are 3rd party programs which can replace and improve this feature. Interface with yoru PC is doen either via bluetooth or through the supplied cradle. You also get a sturdy slip case to keep the Ipaq safe. On the downside, it only comes with one stylus....

...The HP iPAQ Pocket PC h2210 is perhaps on of the best pockect pc's on the market its fast reliable and does the job well, whether you want it for work or just for its movie and music playing capabilitys this is the one for you. The HP iPAQ Pocket PC h2210 is now reasnobly cheap for a PDA and has exellent programs for work purposes like pocket word and exel plus many more and others wich can be brought separately. The graphics are outstanding with just about no faults. This is backed up by a processor speed of 400Mhz wich is fast compared to others on the market, but isnt fast enough to download music files or movies from the internet. this brings me on to my next point, the HP iPAQ Pocket PC h2210 can conect to the internet via the normal method, dial up/ broad band or by certain mobile phones, im afraid i dont know how this works...

One feature that attracts me (again security) is under its screen it has, a narrow rectangular bar marks the fingerprint reader that comes quite handy to keep your files and applications safe and not easily accessible. Design: It is lot attractive, easier to grip/hold and it has a screen protector that flips up while you are using it (and obviously stays there while in use). iPAQ PocketPC Now goes 2002

Advantages: Compact, Great Screen
Disadvantages: Not enough memory, No CF Slot

...I bought this about a month ago and it keeps me organised at home and work. Integration into outlook and the ability to read word documents helps me so I can catch up on emails when things get busy at work. A lot of additional software can also be downloaded from the Internet and installed onto the iPAQ via your PC. I use www.pocketgear.com to look for games etc. There are two areas that you need to get used to on this device. Firstly the handwriting recognition, take time to practice and make sure you read the instructions on where to write the characters as it makes a big difference. The screen is small so some documents that look great on your PC will be difficult to navigate on the iPAQ. If you buy an iPAQ PocketPC now you will get a free upgrade to the new super PocketPC 2002. It makes the iPAQ even better than it already...
