...This cable comes with your iPod. It's the only way provided free with the iPod for you to recharge it. You plug it into a desktop or laptop computer and your iPod will charge via the power provided to the computer. It seemed adequate enough when I was first using it, as long as the cable works and it's not too slow there aren't many complaints you can have unless it breaks. Clearly my luck isn't too good. The cable broke after 2-3yrs, it didn't snap so initially I wasn't sure why my iPod wouldn't recharge but which is cheaper, replacing the iPod battery or buying a new cable? I wasn't too pleased to find out the price of a new cable so I decided to go with a cheap import from Hong Kong (not an iPod brand cable) which cost me only £2-3 and I've had no problems with it as of yet. I certainly wouldn't pay the £13-16 the iPod cable...

Bose Sound Dock (2nd Generation)

Advantages: Incredible sound from such a small unit, good build quality
Disadvantages: Price

...I bought this unit in November this year. There are two models, the original sound dock which I think is about £199 and the second generation one (the one I bought) which was £279 from John Lewis. The second generation one is basically the same as the first except: a) it has a rechargeable battery b) it has a swing out dock c) it has an auxiliary (3.5mm) jack input If you just want a basic model, then go for the first gen one. I got the second gen one because I thought the battery was a useful addition as is the auxiliary 3.5mm input - I have mine connected to an apple airport express that streams itunes from my laptop to my bedroom although I have used it in a friends house with my ipod too. Can't say enough good things about the Bose SoundDock

I think the best thing I could say about this, is that two people, after having listened to my SoundDock have literally rushed out and bought their own. Ipod Universal Dock, Dock Em In!

...I bought this dock about 4 months ago and I have been using it on a daily basis every since, I got this dock so that I could play my music through speakers (without unplugging headphones) and use the remote so I don?t have to move to change the song and FF,RW etc (lazy). I have been using this dock for around 4 months on a daily basis and I think that the dock is wicked, I have had no problems with the dock and it has made my music listening much more enjoyable because I can use the remote to control the Ipod (Remote Purchased Separately). And I don?t have to remove the headphones to use the speakers as the dock has a 3.5 audio jack built in, and I can use the dock for data transfer with my pc as well as charging through the mains (cables have to be bought separately too). And scene as though I have the video Ipod I can use the docks...

The Bose sound was remarkable. It was so clear it was unbelievable. ...have to use headphones (which is akin to all Ipods), but on a phone you can listen to it on loudspeaker. Another problem with the Touch is the casing - both the 'screen' front and the 'mirror' back is easily covered with fingerprints or scratches - I highly recommend buying both a screen protector and a case a.s.a.p. if you do decide to buy a Touch (the Touch does come with a removable clear screen cover - but this is not designed to be permanent - and it comes off easily). The other essential accessory, which wasn't included when I bought the Touch, was a mains charger and docking cradle - you could only charge it through the USB connector lead that was included (fortunately I was able to use my Ipod Classic mains docking cradle - once I had changed the adaptor 'rest' inside the cradle).
