IRiver T20 MP3 player

Advantages: Small, light, jog proof and fits in my denim jacket
Disadvantages: only 512 MB, looks a bit old fashioned, not as 'cool' as an ipod...

Woohoo! As it's just before christmas they're clearing out their stock of MP3 players and digital audio players. Which means you can pick up some fantastic and expensive electric consumables for less than half price. Just like I did on this little beaut. However I was actually after a Sony 6GB snazzy purple MP3 for £99, worth £149. They had completely sold out, and I suppose £99 is still alot of money so I settled for a 512 iriver as I really needed something to listen to in the gym as all they play on the overhead speakers is the rubbish local radio station and I detest having to pump iron to 'amazing Glazing everytime...

Iriver X20 4GB

Advantages: micro sd card slot, fm radio, volume, videos
Disadvantages: main control dial, menus, equaliser, Apple unfriendly (no AAC support)

...screen is pretty crisp and reasonably large 34x46 mm versus 30 x 40 for the latest Ipod Nano. But you still need good eyesite to view the videos more than casually. Personally I can view about 2 vids then I go crosseyed. So videos are a "novelty" extra on a screen of this size to me. I might add here that the bundled software turned a 95MB windows movie into a 26MB movie with no loss of quality (at the smaller size) which is impressive. This same software I am now using to initially reduce any windows movie for my Ipod before final format conversion to "Applespeak". As usual with any "mp3" player, the bundled earphones are rubbish, ok not rubbish just very average, but so are the Ipod default earpieces. Do yourself a favour the day you buy the Iriver, Ipod, whatever, buy yourself some quality headphones, like Sennheiser, the difference is...

Iriver U10 - Caught the digital flow

Advantages: A brilliant way to listen to music or watch Videos. Still a very modern design.
Disadvantages: The firmware updates have stopped coming, thats about it.

The Reliable and Trustworthy IRiver

Advantages: Relaible, Cheap, Quick, Easy to Use, Easy Connection and Useful Features

...i bought my 6 GB Iriver H10 two years ago for £80 and it is worth every penny. I didn't want to buy an Ipod as i had heard they involved a lot of software and connecting, adn so i opted for the IRiver as it uses Media Player and connects with one cable. The transmission speeds are very good anda full album can be sent over in 2 minutes. i have dropped it several times and the battery has never become loose, imy screen is undamaged and unscratched amd the speed of the IRiver is the same as when i bought it. The reformatting of the IRiver is quick and very easy and the other features of the IRiver are very useful. I use the text for reading short stories and i use the radio to listen to my favourite frequencies. Although the IRIver lacks the games and quiz feature i still believe it is great value for money....
