Bank of ireland

Advantages: Friendly staff
Disadvantages: Long Cues

...Bank of Ireland I have been a customer of bank of Ireland for some time now, and I have to admit I have never had any problems with the service. I have a basic saving account and a credit card with this bank - and I have been a loyal customer every since. I opened an account when I was 17, and they were very helpful as I had no ID, so they worked hard with me to get a way of opening an account for me, which I appreciated very much. This account is not a card account, just a savings account - meaning I had to physically go into a bank branch to withdraw or deposit money. I didn't mind as they had 3 branches in my area, which is very handy. I then became a student and was offered a student credit card with all these brilliant deals, so in fell into the trap unfortunately, and now I owe them 800 quid . That's one thing...

Ireland

Advantages: Safe
Disadvantages: weather

...I just visited to Ireland from Malta on a Rynair flight, with my wife and a three year old kid. We rented a cottage in Borrisokane, and a car from Dublin airport. Please take car for the car hire prices - I was given a quote on the internet and wasn't respected when I presented y booking. You can find several offers at the airport. Use a GPS - very helpful, especially on the way outside Dublin. The roads near the airport and the Dublin ring road are being upgraded. The weather was a bit cloudy but fine. People - they are fantastic and more than welcome. They love to chat and help tourists. Once we stopped for a coffee and an old gentleman asked us to join and talk to us. Ireland is an untouched place and a relaxing country. They are very late back people. The Irish seems to love family - lot of pregnant...

Ireland - Historic and Ledgendary

Advantages: Beautiful Scenery, full of information, stacks of history
Disadvantages: capital too crowded

...I am writing this review on my latest and greatest holiday, I say abroad which is kind of true but actually I am going to the republic of Ireland, as I am writing this review I'm on holiday and writing it on my pocket PC. This is not such a 'review' it is more about what I did, a diary. I am going to Ireland with all my family except my dad because he couldn't get the time off work but we went with my Nan as part of a birthday present. -*-*- Setting off -*-*- We had to set off really early on the Friday morning about 6am but we had to get to the boat for am (in case you hadn't gathered we are sailing to Dublin) we got to the boat at about half 7 which gave us time to sit in the passenger lounge which was not too bad as it had toys for the children to play with, a TV, a few chairs and a coffee machine. We waited in there for about...

Great Golf Links of Ireland

Advantages: Magnificent Links Golf Courses
Disadvantages: Bring your waterproofs

..., with no fewer than ten holes bending either left or right, and the rough is both plentiful and very thick and heavy to severely punish any wayward shot. The feature hole is the aptly named 14th , ‘Calamity Corner?. A par-three measuring 215 yards, it is perched on a cliff edge, and failure to carry over the huge chasm to the right has destroyed many a promising scorecard. Even if this hole is negotiated successfully, the very next (15th) is called ‘Purgatory?. Sinners beware!! Portrush is the only golf course in Ireland to host the British Open (1951), and is the permanent venue for the North of Ireland Amateur Championship every July, and also the British Seniors Open. In 1895, the club?s first professional, Sandy Herd, defeated the famous British player Harry Vardon in the very first professional event ever...

Round Ireland with a fridge - Book review.

Advantages: Hilarious
Disadvantages: Non

...I chose to read this book solely because of the title, but was pleasantly surprised to discover the hilarious and well written memoirs of an English comedian called Tony Hawks (not the skate boarder) So what is the book about, well the clue is in the title. Tony likes to drink, so I could relate to him straight away. He also likes to make ridiculous bets once he is drunk. He wakes up one morning with the vague recollection of making a silly bet with a friend the previous evening, and is horrified to discover that he had agreed to travel the circumference of Ireland with a fridge in tow. What follows is a very funny account of his journey and the interesting people he meets along the way. As you can guess Ireland is full of colourful people and Tony seems to attract a good number of them. I think the fridge would help strike...

DONT USE NORTHERN IRELAND RAILWAYS

Advantages: None
Disadvantages: Where do i start?

...informed that the train had broken down and that it was going to limp to Dundalk were we would be taken by bus to Portadown. After nearly two hours on the bus we finally got to Portadown. If you are thinking about using Northern Ireland Rail - DONT! If the government want us to use public transport they will have to completely overall this network. As for me il be taking the car in future and using one of Dublin City Centre car parks and this would still be a hell of a lot cheaper than £110 it took for five of us to use the train!...

Ireland forever standing tall

Advantages: Strong Pack, talented backs, O'Driscoll
Disadvantages: O'Gara

...In my opinion Ireland are turning into one of the most exiting teams in international rugby today. We have a superbly strong and dynamic front row especially Keith Wood who is with out doubt the best hooker in the world. Our Second row of Malcolm O'Kelly and ex lion Jeremy Davidson are possibly the best pairing in the world. Our backs are also fantastic and exciting however we do seem to have the wrong man at out-half. At present we have got Ronan O'Gara who can do nothing but kick. We should have David Humphries on as he plays a far more modern style of rugby. This could be seen when he came on against South Africa and threw a pass to the hugely talented Brian O'Driscoll which opened up the Springboks defence and created a try! However, if we have Humphries and a full strength team we will quickly become a major threat to the three...

Why Ireland said No?

Advantages: It was the RIGHT decision!!
Disadvantages: It was a narrow victory for the 'no's'!

...I believe, as I am sure do the Irish, that NO was the right decision. Smaller countries, like Ireland live in fear of too much power being given to the EU as It has the potential to dilute their own national identity and daily governance of their country. The NO vote was to keep to Irish traditions like neutrality and opposition to abortion, which could be threatened by reduced sovereignty. Although Ireland have benefited greatly from the EU, It only actually makes up a small percentage of the EU. And therefore will feel that they will be interfered with, so to speak, rather than having a vital say in Europe's affairs. Europe as an collective will need to decide where to go from here, I think most European leaders will urge remaining member states to continue with their own ratifications. Although I believe that all states including...

Review of What are your thoughts on Ireland saying 'No' to the Lisbon Treaty?

Bryan Adams Live in Ireland

Advantages: Extra Features are brill!!
Disadvantages: Should have used his full band for this event.

...Bryan Adams has been a very popular draw in Ireland for years and it was no surprise to me when it was announced he would play Slane Castle,in Co.Meath,Ireland.Slane is the biggest outdoor event in Ireland,a natural amphitheatre set on a beautiful estate with Slane Castle to one side. This was the Irish leg of Adams world tour, and in true Irish style, the thousands of fans were once again in form for a great nights entertainment by one of the worlds best rock vocalists. The camera work was superb, capturing the atmosphere which had reached fever pitch by the time the band took to the stage. Guitarist Keith Scott,Drummer Mickey Carey and the man himself arrived onstage complete with life size balloons that they kicked into the crowd and then the opening riff to "Back To You" began. The crowds immediately...
