Canon Powershot SX200 IS

Advantages: Lots of zoom, lots of pixels, sturdy
Disadvantages: No internal memory, flash pops up whether you want it to or not

...I bought this camera recently as I purchased a Canon EOS1000D DSLR and I wanted a compact digital with a large zoom for the times when I didn't feel like lugging the DSLR and all it's accessories around with me. I'd looked around at other models, and I know that there are many other cameras that offer a much higher zoom, but I finally settled on this one for a number of reasons. a) 12 million pixels. This is more than I'll probably ever need as it's very rare that I print anything above 8x10 but it was an upgrade on my previous digital compact. b) 12x optical zoom. This is more than adequate for general photography, any more and I think you do probably need a tripod. c) NB-5L Li-Ion Battery. Lexus IS200 SE - Winner

Advantages: Looks, Engine, Specs
Disadvantages: Fuel Consumption, Tyre Wear

...I bought my Lexus IS200 SE in January 2006 and it's safe to say it is the best car I've ever had. The build quality is rock solid, it handles brilliantly and as for the cabin, it is an extremely pleasant place to be. The car is aimed squarely at the BMW 3-series, and just like it's main rival, it is a beautifully balanced, rear-wheel drive sports saloon. The engine is a 6-pot peach and this is it's main advantage over the BMW, which in it's 2 litre variant, only comes with 4 cylinders. The engine is smooth, refined and has VVT-i so at 4500 rpm, you get a kick in the back and the car surges forward even faster. With 153bhp, the engine is quite good for a 2 litre and has a little more power then the BMW rival. It took me time to decide

Advantages: Zoom, small size, picture quality, playback and review
Disadvantages: Screen display a little grainy, doesn't like fluorescent lights, no optical video zoom

...After 2 solid weeks of reading scores of professional and general public reviews on the Canon Powershot 200sx I took the plunge and bought it. As this was my first digital camera I was somewhat apprehensive, maybe the thing would be too complex or too expensive for an entry level camera novice such as myself to take. At £243 (before the £40 cashback offer, which took a month to arrive) perhaps a slightly older model model at £120-150 would've been a wiser purchase. Disadvantages: Satellite pairing takes ages, no mains charger!

The mounting equipment are of good quality, and assembly and attaching to either windscreen or dash is very easy. I have read a few reviews where users had complained about the suction cup not being very strong, although I have yet to come across this problem. I was slightly disapointed to find that there was no mains power cable with the system, only a usb power cable, which is not always convenient. The Garmin Nuvi 200w is a very nice looking piece of kit. It is silver and grey in colour, and it's actual dimensions are 4.8"x2.9"x0.8". ...I worked for a Japanese firm some years ago and saw a Lexus for the first time being chaffeur driven and my first impressions were of the brand being a Japanese Volvo both in styling and performance with little extras. I was therefore a little hesitant when purchasing my Is200 from a friend last year but the price was too tempting and I felt I should give the brand a chance. I am glad that I did. Having owned a number of "Top Name, Performance" cars in my time I was somewhat surprised by the performance given by the Is200 overall. The drive is smooth and the steering incredibly responsive. I love the driving position and feel very comfortable and secure. There are other sedan's on the market which feel like driving rollerskates at high speed but the Is200 feels robust. Why the Portege A200 is almost the best. Almost.

Advantages: Fast, upgradeable, extremely portable and super stylish
Disadvantages: Heatsink blocks up with dust easity, leading to overheating

Canon EF 70mm-200mm F/4 L USM

Advantages: Light weight, Sharp, Fast, Reasonably Priced
Disadvantages: Not Image Stabilised, Tripod Collar not included

...I have been using my 70mm-200mm F4.0 L for roughly 2 years on a 20D body. It is very quick to focus and is very sharp throughout the focal range. The bokeh is very soft at F/4 giving a soft, out of focus background. The lens is extremely light, making it easy to transport. I find it an extremely useful lens, due to the extensive range from 70mm-200mm and use it with a 1.4x converter to create a total length of 280mm. I personally use my lens to take images of motorsport and wildlife, which it lends itself to beautifully. The build quality of this lens is excellent - which means no wobbling and smooth controls. Sony a200 - one of the best budget dslr cameras available.

Advantages: Great battery life, comfortable in the hands, picture quality.
Disadvantages: Flimsy memory card and remote release slot.
