Between The Dior And Chanel Gowns Hangs A Surprising Story.
Advantages: Lots of designer dress's! Intriguing original story and great characters
Disadvantages: Overly descriptive at times.
...I usually get through a couple of books a week quite easily. However I've had a bit of a reading slump over the last week or two. A combination of some family concerns and a rare heatwave have left my concentration span somewhat short. After picking up and discarding no less than 6 books over a number of days, I finally found one I could get into.
A Vintage Affair by Isabel Wolff begins with Phoebe Swift reliving a childhood memory of her best friend, Emma. Roll on 25 years and on the eve of opening a vintage clothing shop in trendy Blackheath, after turning her back on her successful career at Sotherby's and the man she was engaged to marry, it becomes apparent that tragedy has struck Emma and 32 year old Phoebe is harbouring deep guilt over the death of her life long friend.
Struggling to come to terms with her loss and her guilt...

Who?s Behaving Badly?
Advantages: Amusing romance with a touch of mystery.
Disadvantages: No Martin Clunes, as title may suggest.
..., and was described by the Chairman of the Judges as, ?Intensely funny, as well as being extremely moving and full of humanity.?
This book has now been translated so that Russian readers can enjoy it.
The author, after reading English at Cambridge and struggling as an actress, worked for the BBC for twelve years. She also wrote freelance articles for magazines and newspapers, before being contracted by Harper Collins to write books.

Rescuing Rose and Cheering up Chantelle
Advantages: Written so cleverly, warm, sad and funny at the same time.
Disadvantages: It ends and you just want to see the characters develop forever.
...I read HUNDREDS of books, I get through two or three a week and have exhausted the local library. So when new books come out I'm like a fly round.... a jam tart, but I really don't like paying up to £7 each when they only last me a night or two. However in Asda the other day they had a sale aisle with three or four stands made of cardboard, and hundreds of books all messed up in no order for £1 each, on them. Normally I can't see anything I haven't read but that day to my delight I found three! This was one of them, I was expecting your usual light hearted but forgettable 'chick lit' but I was pleasantly surprised!
The Author, Isabel Wolff, read English at Cambridge and currently lives in London. This is her fourth novel, the previous three; The Trials of Tiffany Trott, The making of Minty Malone, and Out of the Blue, were all...

Isabel, Rocco and me!
Advantages: An incredible read.
Disadvantages: None!!!
...I seem to have got out of the habit of reading just recently, I have this really bad habit of still buying books even though they are just piling up next to the bed.
So upon another visit to my local library and spotting a sale table I felt the urge to investigate, this time there was a wonderful array of books for my attention, so after much deliberation I chose three and was on my way.
One of the three books I finally chose was a book called "Isabel and Rocco" by Anna Stothard, I have never been one of these people that finds a writer they like and read every book they have ever written?.well aside from Virginia Andrews but I maintain the reason for that is I had youth on my side.
To be truthful the reason I chose this and nearly ever other book I have ever read is due entirely to the front cover, if the cover looks interesting...

An interesting take on the dating game
Advantages: funny, sparky, interesting
Disadvantages: none
...her former boyfriend's relationship with the beautiful Portia, her friend Sally becoming unexpectedly pregnant, and her best friend Lizzie's marital problems when her husband decides he doesn't want to be walked over anymore! She barely has any time to think about Seriously Successful - but she still does.
Will Tiffany find the guy of her dreams in this non-traditional but increasingly common search for Mr Right? Well, I don't want to reveal what happens but, while it is a satisfying ending, there is a neat little twist that makes you wonder if it really will be happily-ever-after!
This is a great little story which is similar to, but also SUPERIOR to, Bridget Jones' Diary. This was Isabel Wolff's first novel and, to be honest, I've not been anywhere near as fond of her other books as this one. Tiffany is a great character, chatty...

I don't believe it...
Advantages: Easy to read, very witty and entertaining.
Disadvantages: I read it too quick!!!
...In the words of a certain Mr. Meldrew ?I don?t believe it!?. For the second time in two train journeys I forgot to bring an essential item. Last time it was my trusty CD player (I had lots of CD?s, but nothing to play them on!). Whilst this time it was my book, Damn, Drat and bloomin'? heck! Four hours on a train with nothing to read, not a very enticing prospect I think you'll agree. There are only so many times you can look out of a window and think ?Great, another field!?
All was not lost though, another trip to trusty WHSmith soon solved the book problem. After my last, rather successful experiment with Private Eye (see ?Have Eye got quips for you?) I thought I?d branch out again and chose a new author. I didn?t want anything too heavy so I went for some new fiction, eventually plumbing for ?Out of the Blue? by Isabel...

Tut Tut Tiffany Trott
Advantages: Absolutley hilarious!
Disadvantages: Its as if she's written about you!!!!
...I must say, I've never actually read a romance novel or indeed anything comedic before I read this book, - I'm more of a scare-myself-silly kinda girl - but I'm glad I did as it opened up a whole new world to me!
After getting it as an xmas present I thought 'what the heck, i've got nothing to lose' so I got stuck in...
It's written by Isabel Wolff (1999) and set in London. It follows the life of Tiffany Trott, a 37 year old copy wirter who has recently been dumped and on the look out for a new bloke. Now, like most females, she has a list of what she doesn't want in a man. The thing with Tiffany though is, her list is slightly mad! Most of us don't care what they're like as long as we fancy them (right?), but with Tiffany they can't be:
- Golfers
- Cross dressers
- or have 'awful' names such as Terry or Kevin.
Just to...

Rescuing Rose
Advantages: a light, fluffy easy read
Disadvantages: none really - what you see is what you get
...Having dipped my toe in the Isabel Woolff waters with a previous title, I thought I'd give Rescuing Rose a try ...
STORYLINE
******************************************************
Rose is a newspaper agony aunt, but her own personal life is far from plain sailing; her relationship has broken down after her husband slept with their marriage guidance counsellor, and she apparently has a deep secret in her past - something to do with her parents ....
She moves to a new house, and ends up living with a lodger called Theo ... therein follows various sub plots involving her friends, twins Bella and Bea; next door neighbour, Bev; and ex boyf called Henry and of course Theo.
Obviously, the ex also wanders back into the story and wants her back ... but no! I shan't tell you if she says yes because I don't want to spoil it for you...
