Advantages: Stunning landscape, nice towns to visit Disadvantages: None
...The Isle of Skye is somewhere I have wanted to visit my whole life, but have never had the chance. The Scottish Isles for me have a sort of mystique about them, the isolation and the tradition they have, but Skye has always been the one I?ve wanted to go to. I think a lot of it has to do with my favourite band, Runrig, being from there ? their songs are often about the landscape they grew up in, and they even have a song called Skye.
Finally, at the end of September this year, I went to the island with my parents. Having been staying on the mainland for several days in rubbish weather, the first remotely decent day we had we jumped in the car and shot across the bridge, as they knew how excited I was to go to the island, and we didn?t want to miss the best weather we were likely to have (best in this sense is mainly dry with showers...
Advantages: Gorgeous designer & unusual clothing Disadvantages: No changing facilities for the disabled
...Famous for its mountainous and breathtaking scenery, The Isle of Skye ? situated off the West coast of Mainland Scotland - is the largest and best known of the Inner Hebrides. Renowned for its natural beauty and therefore a magnate for climbers, artists and photographers, it is perhaps not the first place one would think of to visit for a glorious shopping experience.
Seek and ye shall find.
The island looks tiny on the map but you'll need your entire holiday and more to discover even a small proportion of some of the area's hidden gems. I'd like to share one such shiny jewel with you.
Ragamuffin is situated on the pier in Armadale, Sleat (pronounced 'slate') on the south western peninsula of the island. The little shop (strangely like a sheik's tent, it is actually bigger inside than it appears outside) sits overlooking...
Advantages: Ryde Isle of Wight Disadvantages: Ryde Isle of Wight
...Ryde Isle of Wight
Living in Ryde on the Isle of Wight I think gives me a perfect inside knowledge to be able to write this review. I have lived here for a good few years now and have enjoyed pretty much every single year.
The Isle of Wight is situated off of the very south of mainland England and a 15-minute ferry crossing from Portsmouth. One of the places you can catch a ferry to is Ryde and it is very easy to be able to hop over from Portsmouth just for the day to the island. Ryde is very popular with holidaymakers, tourists and island residents alike. It has the second biggest shopping town on the Isle of Wight and not only has great shops but has a load of wonderful beaches.
From the beaches you are able to have a wonderful skyline view over Portsmouth and Southsea. The Spinnaker Tower is easy visible on a clear...
...The Heights Leisure Centre, Sandown, Isle of Wight......
The Heights Leisure Centre is located on the main road leading into Sandown (The Broadway). It is a large building which was opened on the 25th March 1982. The leisure centre has many activities on offer all priced at a fairly reasonable rate. Listed below are the things that The Heights has to offer and a little bit about it.
Swimming ...
There is both a children's pool and a regular pool both of a good size although neither full size pools as the large pool measures in at 25 meters. The children's pool however it lovely and warm and Jack does love having a splash around there. The pool is open long hours although it is best to check the timetable as there are classes or lane swimming booking up both pools on some days. For an adult swim you are looking to pay £2...
Advantages: A place for everyone - young and old! Disadvantages: You won't want to go home.
...I thought I would write about a subject that I know a lot about for my next review, so the ideal topic would be the Isle of Wight, which coincidentally is where I live. It?s also has a huge tourist industry, and with the onset of the summer holidays fast approaching, I hope to provide readers with enough information, good and bad, so that they can make an informed choice when deciding where to book their holiday or short break.
So where do I start? It is a huge undertaking and I know that I will never be able to do it justice. I apologise for that now, and I will be more than happy to answer any questions that you may have ? just leave a message in my Guestbook and I will try to help you.

Review of Isle of Wight (England)
Advantages: Tranquility; breathtaking scenery; friendly islanders Disadvantages: Wet and windy or Midgies - take your pick!
..."'The Misty Isle' as the Isle of Skye is affectionately known (the Gaelic name is Eilean a' Cheo - pronounced Ellen a Kee-ow) is the largest of the Inner Hebridean Islands. The island lies about a mile off the north-west of Scotland.
Grab yourself a map, and if you live in the south of England, move your finger up the map following the coastline, up through the North of England, through the Scottish borders, up, up, up?. Wait! Stop! See, just to the left at the very edge of the coastline in the Highlands of Scotland you will see a tiny place called Kyle of Lochalsh. This is where, up until 1995, you would catch the ferry to the Isle of Skye. Then they built a bridge and tourism dropped dramatically because the tolls were very, very expensive at £5.70 each way. In 2005, the tolls were finally abolished and since then the island has...
Advantages: No crime, peaceful, good weather, lovely scenery Disadvantages: Expensive
...The Isles of Scilly lie 28 miles off Lands End off the Cornish coast, and is the most South-Westerly part of the British Isles.
Out of the 100 or so tiny islands, only 5 of these are inhabited, with St Mary's being the largest and main Island.
The name "Scilly" is thought to come from the Viking word "Syllorgar" and the Romans "Sully" meaning sun Islands (the 'C' added in the 16th Century).
*****************************St Mary's*******************************
St Mary's is the largest (at 2 1/2 miles by 1 3/4) and main Island that people stay on for their holiday, and has the most hotels, guest houses and self catering accomadation available.
There is also a large campsite positioned up on the Garrison, which is not far to walk down into the town centre and is relatively cheap at £5-£6 per person per night.
There are 6...
Advantages: Superb value for Money. Clean well furnished. Location for Walking, beach. Disadvantages: Relying on uk weather.
...For Clean affordable accommodation for up to 6 people self catering I would reccomend staying at Sandown Bay. The chalet we stayed in is totaly refurbished inside ,with a new bathroom, full kitchen, double room, a single room with bunk beds & a very comfortable sofa bed.
Here is the website for the chalet we stayed in www.iowaccommodation.com
Why visit the Isle of Wight ??
The Isle of Wight has long been an excellent place for an upmarket but traditional seaside holiday, and has a number of individual beaches and towns that were very popular with the Victorians. However, it is also becoming a must visit destination for young people seeking watersports and outdoor activities generally . Cowes is a famous yachting centre and attracts the 'London set' together with members of the worldwide sailing fraternity during Cowes Week in...

Review of Isle of Wight (England)
Advantages: Beautiful scenery, numerous distilleries, relaxing atmosphere. Disadvantages: Midges and the guarantee of good weather.
...Isle of Islay
Islay is one of the southernmost Inner Hebridean islands in Scotland. The island lies west of the Island of Jura which itself lies west of the Mull of Kintrye on the Scottish mainland. The island is approximately 25miles from North to South and 15 miles across at its widest point. The name Islay is pronounced 'eye-la' (you don't sound the letter y). The island is currently the home to 3400 inhabitants, a small number of tourists and on occasion about 60,000 geese. Famous for its numerous whisky distilleries, Islay is a beautiful island with a dozen golden sand beaches, several historical sites and not too many tourists. The island even has it own website, so for more information go to www.isle-of-islay.com
How to get there.
The island of Islay can be reached by ferry from either Oban or Kennacraig on the Mull...

...The rustic, bucolic,Isle of Wight, located just across the Solent from the coast of Southern England,is a compact, rustic, and tranquil island that has long exercised a great appeal for British holidaymakersIt offers a very English type holiday experience. It is surprisingly easy to get to with services from Portsmouth,Southampton and Lymington, and you dont need to take your passport !
Osborne House near Newport was the favourite residence of Queen Victoria and much of the epic film Mr Brown was shot on location there. These days the elegant rooms of the Queen's fave spot are open to the public and you can spend an enjoyable hour or two seeing how royalty lived in the old days.
Sailors, yachtsmen, families, and men of letters have been attracted by this diamond-shaped little Island. Among famous literary figures that have connections...
