...I love this country. not only because i was born there but mainly because it is what the bible says it is : Paradise. for me being in london right now indoors (raining again) is like putting a lion in a box just a bit bigger then the lion and expect it to be happy. i am that lion and i miss lots of things in israel but i'll only share one trip i have done (a track) with some family members about two years ago (just before coming to london). well, i have been in the israeli army for 3 years and learned a lot from it and one of the things i took with me from being there is the love for survival skills, navigation, and the ability to be in the wierdest situations and come out alive. and so one of my biggest hobbys became nature trips (with not too much aquipment and lots of skills). this time we went to the south of israel, to the dead sea...

Outspan in Israel

Advantages: relaxing, friendly, clean, lots to do
Disadvantages: long flight, guns in view, airport politics

Anything you needed people seemed very accomodating for Shopping There are lovely outdoor markets during the day and night to look at and buy local items or presents. There is a large shopping centre (a bit like Meadowhall in Sheffield) which was good value for money.. The only tobacconist was in this centre and they are very helpful. Airport When you arrive in Israel you are processed through a strict check in procedure, PLEASE BE AWARE IF YOU HAVE A STAMP FROM EGYPT OR TURKEY IN YOUR PASSPORT THEY WILL ASK ALOT OF QUESTIONS. I had been to egypt the previous year and they interrogated me as to why I was now in Israel. It is important to remember they are only protecting their own country, but they do not really have a sense of humour.. so keep your conversation with Airport staff very short...

...because there were so many Cargo Ships that we had to pass between. The Russians had left Egypt a few years before and Egypt had announced to the World "that they had cut all ties with the USSR". Therefore I was surprised to see that about half of these Ships were from Russia. After an hour our Ship final moored at Alexandria. When we disembarked there was a Man holding up a cardboard sign with Nini's name on it. He arranged to move us through Customs quickly and the Israeli Visa in my passport was not a problem because Israel & Egypt had established "Diplomatic Relations". Unfortunately this did not stop the Egyptian Press and some of the Citizens from hating Israel. We had arrived on Friday and I wanted to see the Synagogue before sunset. ENCHANTING EGYPT

My family flew to Egypt then joined a Nile cruise ship before setting off on a voyage along the River. We had a set week long schedule which would take us to 5 stops along the Nile where we would take in the sights of the Country. ...Well being Egyptian I think I can write a global review covering the following aspects. Shopping Well, shopping for a non-Egyptian tourist would be the most benefical activity, the prices in Egypt would be so cheap because of the currency issue, 5.5 Egyptian pounds equal one dollar. When a dutch friend came to visit me, she couldn't believe how things were so cheap to her when she converted them to Euros compared to how much she would for them in her original country. Backpacking in Egypt

Advantages: Cheap, amazing things to see

...I spent 5 weeks in Egypt a couple of years ago. We did more or less the standard route, getting off the beaten track a little. Cairo - Alexandria - Siwa - Farafra - Luxor - Aswan - Abu Simbel - Hurghurda - Dahab. Egypt is not just all about the pyramids and the Valley of the Kings, although these are obviously not to be missed. I highly recommend going east. From Alexandria on the Med, you can go south to Siwa, which is an oasis town in the middle of the desert near the Libyan border, where donkeys remain the main form of transportation. The people here still live a traditional lifestyle. Women are fully covered from head to toe, and apparently do not speak to any man other than family until they are married (including the husband to be!) It is becoming quite touristy now but you do have to be reasonably dedicated to...

...This year I went on one of the most amazing holidays I have been on. I went to Egypt. My trip to Egypt took months of planning and was in fact very difficult to book. This stemmed from the fact that I had a clear idea of where I wanted to go in Egypt and when. I wanted to start in Luxor. This was primarily because I could book a cheap return flight to Luxor via Thomas Cook. I wanted to board a Nile Cruise in Luxor for 5 days (4 nights). Many cruises last for 7 days as they go to Aswan and return to Luxor. I wanted to travel from Aswan to Cairo - on the sleeper train. From Cairo I then wanted to go to a Red Sea beach resort, wasn't bothered which one. Walking Across Egypt - a little known film.

Advantages: An easy watch, some comedy moments, a heart warming story and Luke Skywalking in a different light!!!
Disadvantages: The accents and a slow plot.

...and the complement each other. However, Jonathan Taylor Thomas, cutie-pie face exaggerates his role as a lovable rogue. Maybe this was deliberate but I'd have liked to see a young boy who looked like a rebel and Mattie turn him around rather than a butter-wouldn't melt sort who we are meant to believe committed grand theft auto. Set in North Carolina the accents get a touch irritating but that aside, Walking Across Egypt is a quietly, homely and humorous watch. I did a quick search for it and it's available to buy for around £2.99. I'd recommend it to anyone who likes a touching story, who has enjoyed previous performances by Jonathan Taylor Thomas or Ellen Burstyn or who would like to see Mark Hamill playing a very different part from Luke Skywalker!...

...Hello! We (my husband, our 10 year old son and I) spent 8 days in Egypt in early August, 2007. After months of trawling around Travel Agents, none of who could offer my perfect package, I discovered a company called Ramses tours on the internet. From day one they were fantastic. I told them what I wanted to do and they were so accommodating. I could start my trip around Egypt any day of the week, so I could really hold out for the cheapest flights. I found this flexibility quite surprising since i was boarding a cruise ship on day 2. I assumed they would leave on set days - but apparently not. Ramses Tours booked in my sleeper train from Aswan to Cairo and an internal flight to Hurghada form Cairo. They also created an individual itinery for us and included all sights that we were keen to see, including booking us on a hot air...

Mini-Israel - A fun day out for all the family

Advantages: Easy to get to with a car, wheelchair & buggy accessible
Disadvantages: Gets very busy on festivals and holidays

...Mini Israel is a display of hundreds of scaled down models of buildings throughout Israel. It is easy to walk around the site, even pushing wheelchairs/buggies. The main drawback for tourists, is that if children do not recognise the buildings they are viewing, they get bored quickly. However, when we were there there was also a bouncy castle and various other activities for children which were fun. During the intermediate days of festivals/holidays it gets very busy, and in hot weather it is stifling and difficult to get round the exhibits. It is best to go early in the morning or late at night during these times. It is all open air, although there are some picnic benches with small roofs. Restaurants serve food and going into the restaurants and shops is the only way to spend time inside. In July and August it is open until 10pm...
