A civilised Italian lunch
Advantages: Excellent surroundings; very good food and service
Disadvantages: No folded pizzas
...sections you would expect to find in an Italian chain restaurant, with starters, pasta, oven pasta dishes, pizza, risotto, specialities and salads. Perhaps the only difference is that Prezzo also has a section for roast chicken dishes, although I understand that in their newer branches this is replaced by a section for calzone, or folded pizzas. On arrival the waitress had shown us the 'specials' board which featured just one main course: fusilli pasta with asparagus, mushrooms, roasted peppers and green pesto at £7.95. It sounded healthy and I hadn't had pesto for a long time, so I made that my choice. My son opted for traditional lasagne at £8.55, and his partner ordered a pizza with prosciutto ham, mushrooms, marinated olives, fresh rosemary, mozzarella and tomato at £7.95. I was pleased to see that a special knife with a serrated edge was...

The Italian Job
Advantages: action and entertainment
Disadvantages: far cry from the origanal
...Director: F. Gary Gray
Producer: Tim Bevan, Donald De Line and Jim Dyer
Writers: Donna Powers and Wayne Powers
Stars: Mark Wahlberg, Jason Statham, Charlize Theron,Donald Sutherland, Edward Norton Seth Green and Mos Def.
Released in 2003 this action pact remake was loosely based on the 1969 original. (and when I say loosely I mean loosely)
**BRIEF PLOT
When in Venice, John Bridger, (played by Donald Sutherland) meets up with his best friend Charlie, (played by mark Wahlberg) and then puts the plan into action.
The plan is to rob a large bulk of heavily guarded gold bars from under the noses of the Italian police.
As the brilliantly executed plan unfolds we are introduced to the rest of the gang, Steve Frazelli, (played by Edward Norton), 'wheelman' Rob, (played by Jason Stathem). Explosive expert Left Ear, (played by Mos...

The Italian Job
Advantages: Action, mini coopers
Disadvantages: None
...It's not often that a remake of a classic movie is a hit but in my opinion the 2003 version of the Italian Job was a great movie.
The original version of the film is classified as a British caper film with lots of darsterdly deeds. It came out in 1969 and starred Michael Caine. Now I can't say that I've seen this version but from all accounts it was a classic. Apparently, according to an article I read, in 2004 the magazine Total Film named The Italian Job the 27th greatest British film of all time. The line "You were only supposed to blow the bloody doors off!", said by Michael Caine in the film, was voted the favourite movie one-liner in a 2003 poll of 1000 movie fans.
So, to remake the film was a pretty bold move but in my opinion a good one. The film's director, F Gary Gray called this version a homage to the original but he still...

An Italian that I like to do!
Advantages: see review
Disadvantages: none!
...I love going out for meals especially when you get a freebie thrown in too and the staff make you feel as welcome as though you were family. When my husband and i moved to Wakefield we stumbled across this little Italian by mistake and since then it has become a regular haunt for us.
The location
This restaurant may not be set amongst fields with a beautiful view but it is a great location seeing as it's so central. It is on Northgate, Wakefield and so there are plenty of parking spaces around, the main bus route from Leeds to Wakefield runs past it so if you are on public transport it is ideal as the bus literally stops just outside. It's a five minute walk from the station and right by the shopping centre so a great place to finish off an afternoon of shopping!
The building
Rustico was originally one small...

Love Italian
Advantages: Ample vegetarian options, generous portions.
Disadvantages: Some dishes were full of cream and cheese, so in that manner, not great for calorie consciuos
...Recently went to a Prezzo in Harrow to reap the benefits of this new offer where all the main course is in the 2-for-1 offer. Since I was very hungry, I ordered a starter and a main course, both. To my delight, there was a lot of choice for vegetarian people and it is not like Nandoos where there is hardly any choice for vegetarian. The menu offers, wide variety of pizza's, risotto, cal zone and pasta's and salads for the side. The portion served is also quite big and it can be shared between two if, you are not very hungry. The service was also to a standard level. The ambiance was warm and cosy and the traditional italian oven in the corner, gave a feel of a fireplace. Overall, good value for money and a nice place to go for a perfect Italian meal....

The real Italian Job
Advantages: great entertainment and some class driving
Disadvantages: a little slow to start
...can move forwards.
Unfortunately, the plan has attracted the interest of the Italian mafia who insist that the robbery doesn't happen.
Undeterred by the threat of death from the mafia, and Charlie gets a gang together, the computer genious Professor Simon Peach, (played by Benny Hill), electronics expert Birkinshaw, (played by Fred Emney) and a selection of professional getaway drivers.
With the plan to bring Turin to a stand still and take the gold from under every ones noses and escape to Switzerland the robbery goes ahead and the car chase begins.
**IN CONCLUSION**
This is one of the greatest movies of its time.
The escape route is spectacularly shot with the Mini Cooper Ss racing around the streets, the underground and the sewers.
Although half the movie is taken up by the planning of the robbery, which can be...

Bye bye Tiffin Room, hello Italian Bar
Advantages: Varied menu; reasonable prices
Disadvantages: Not the best food in the world
...I wasn't filled with enthusiasm at the prospect of visiting Southsea's latest Italian restaurant, simply because it had taken the place of the Tiffin Room at the India Arms, considered by many to be the best local Indian restaurant. It seemed fair to give it a chance, however, so I met my son on Great Southsea Street early one Friday evening and we wandered down to give the Italian Bar and Grill a closer look.
This establishment is actually part pub and part restaurant. The menu is displayed in the pub window and at first did not encourage me. Alongside pasta, pizza and salads there was a section for burgers ? not my kind of food and not what I had been expecting. We decided nevertheless that the prices looked reasonable and that we would probably find an appealing salad or pasta dish, so in we went.
The door leads into the bar area...

The best Italian gelato in London
Advantages: So unbelievably tasty!
Disadvantages: Not the healthiest snack ever
...I'm sure that Scoop will excuse me pinching their strapline, but they surely must offer the best gelato in London. My girlfriend and I recently paid a visit to their Covent Garden base after a recommendation from one of her work colleagues. Said colleague is one of those boring people who has a hate hate relationship with food, so the fact that she'd recommended Scoop is high praise indeed!
Mhhh... gelato!
Gelato is widely accepted as being an Italian delicacy, although the world and his wife lay claim to inventing it. The Scoop website go with the version of history that states that Charles I was one of the first lucky souls to eat Gelato after it was invented by his French chef, but the prevalence of gelato production and history in Italy would seem to invalidate this theory.
Regardless of its origins, gelato is...

an Italian cheese
Advantages: many
Disadvantages: may be the price
..."Castelmagno" is one of the best cheeses of Italy, and quite surely of the world.
In 1996 it obtained the DOP mark that means, translating from Italian, "Denomination of Origin Protected".
The "Castelmagno" cheese is produced only in the Piedmont province of Cuneo (if you are not familiar with Cuneo I can add that this area is located in the southern part of Piedmont region).
-the production process-
This cheese is produced using a blend of three milks: cow, goat and sheep.
The three milks are mixed together and then there is the process of skimming that removes around 30% of the fat.
Now it is the time to add the natural coagulant (obtained from veal large intestine) and to heat up (35/38°C) the mixture till it gets coagulated.
The dairyman, called also cheese maker, cuts the coagulated mixture that is then put in wood...

The Italian Job
Advantages: very very tasty
Disadvantages: very very fattening
...I bought Tesco?s Italian Tiramisu one day in Tesco when I was either feeling particularly indulgent or I was feeling sorry for myself. I usually go towards the fruit section for my dessert for lunch at work, but I think just about everyone can say that they have tangerine?s coming out of their ears by this time of the year. I eat about 5 a day!
Anyway was very excited about this as it comes in a pack of two (100g each), the whole thing costs £1.35 and if I was feeling really naughty I might eat them both in one go.
***The description***
It basically says on the packet, a brown cardboard affair with a picture of a teaspoon delving into one tiramisu. What I always think is funny is that these pictures always have the phrase, ?serving suggestion? written beside it. I mean, how else do they expect you to eat it, with a straw?
So...
