Sneaky Pete ITV

Advantages: Simply Superb
Disadvantages: Preview was a week too late

...Well it is finally here. The long wait is over. The boredom, the lack of stimulation, the weekends sepent doing DIY. All finished. Why? Because the Formula 1 season has begun. For me, a huge fan of all things F1, it is a time of celebration. It is time that new things begin, for me it heralds spring. Therefore, as I am sure you can all imagine I watched the qualifying session in the middle of the night. And it was superb. I also watched it again in the afternoon, after watching the program that is the whole point of this opinion (Yes, there is actually a point here!). ITV presented us with, albeit a week late in my opinion, the preview to the new F1 season. And is was brilliant. ...We all know that ITV have the rights to Formula 1 coverage in the UK. This sport seems to becoming more and more popular as the years roll by. We all thought that the move from BBC1 to ITV would ruin the coverage, but Murray Walker (get well soon) changed sides as well and if anything ? the coverage has improved. To bring their coverage up-to-date ITV created a website dedicated to Formula 1. This site pumps out an incredible amount of information. Any of you who think that Formula 1 is all about 1 race every couple of weeks is wrong. Take a look at this site any day of the week and you?ll see 4 or 5 new stories and reports. Disadvantages: Too many adverts, crappy sidebar credit for all peak-time/networked programmes (idealogy sucks), no longer the ITV it was originally meant to be

...Now called ITV1 to pair it up with its sister digital channel ITV2, it's been around since the dawn of commercial TV in 1955. The original commercial broadcaster, but by no means the best. Originally a blueprint of 16 localised channels set up between 1955 and 1960, its aim was to be local as opposed to the BBC which is national. Of course by 1968 some of these local stations lost their franchises and were replaced with others. The same thing happened in 1981 (which was when we lost ATV to Central) and again in 1992 (which, incidentally, saw the demise of the excellent TV-AM and the introduction of the naff GMTV). It's Only ITV, But I like It

...If you had asked me last week, which TV channel I’d have, if I could only have one – I’d have said BBC1 immediately. But since I started researching into the topic of television channels, my mind has changed somewhat. I have already written an opinion on BBC1 and, if you’ve seen it, you’ll know I am quite a fan of that channel. But after having listed my favourite ten programmes, I discovered that six of them were on ITV! I have the TV on a lot, it’s on in the background while I’m on the computer.
