Great chat show host !!

Advantages: Great presenter !
Disadvantages: Some O.T.T. guests, lots of bleeps !!

...The Jerry Springer Show on ITV has now earned itself rather a cult status, with its often eccentric & over the top guests. The topics covered tend to be pretty bizarre & some of the guests have to be seen to be believed ! One thing that really irritates me about the show is the amount of bleeps, from the swearing that is deemed unfit for us to hear at that time of day. The guests certainly do no favours to their country, enhancing the stereotypical view that all Americans are loud-mouthed & aggressive ! I did prefer the shows that were filmed in the United Kingdom, as they seemed more toned down than the American ones. Jerry Springer is faultless as a presenter though - charming, intelligent, witty & masterminds the whole thing expertly. Recommended....

...Jerry Springer has to be one of the worst chat show programmes out there. The only thing i have ever seen them talk (fight) about is couples doing the dirty on each other and either partner telling the other one their gay. You can tell that some of the people who go on the show have gone on purely to get some money, as there is no emotion at all when one of the partners tells the other that they have been having an affair, or is it just that all americans dont really love each other deep down!? All they do is fight, swear and moan. There is no serious chatting going on like other chat shows, its just the same thing over and over again in each show with the audience hailing jerry. I really don't know how its lasted this long, even the late night shows are all edited out and the girls are covered up when they strip, so even that...

...Oh well its been quite a few years since "The Jerry Springer Show" hit our screens, and to tell you the truth at first it was not that bad. But over the past few years it has grew into the most pathetic thing to hit our screens, I mean come on, you only have to look at the guests and their pathetic stories. ITV's The Conference

Advantages: It shows football...
Disadvantages: Everything else is crap

...for adverts, and I would imagine around the same again for analysis of the matches, plus 10 minutes of gimmicks from El Tel and Andy in his van. This leaves around 25 – 30 minutes approximately of football. They have tried to rectify this over the last few weeks, but I still get the feeling that they mis-represent matches with their choice of what highlights to show. For those of you who may listen to Radio 5 Live on a Saturday afternoon, upon seeing the same match on The Premiership, you find yourself wondering if ITV were at the same match. Pointless gimmicks – the age-old favourite! In the absence of real quality, bung in a few technical gizmos to disguise the crap. Jerry Springer show

Advantages: good, fun to watch
Disadvantages: blocks out the sewaring

...I have to admit the Jerry Springer show is so addictive to watch. It's a chat show like oprah and montel, which is based in america. Each show has a different theme for example:- I'm having an affair I'm gay im pregnant and im only 13 and many more like that The guests come on to tell their storeis to the people involved and to the audience and everyone who is watching. Some of the stories are so funny to watch as well. Often the guests end up fighting and start throwing chairs at each other. The security guards then come to stop them and seperate them. And all the guests shout jerry, jerry, jerry. None of the guests calm down all Jerry does is say one liners or just laugh. This show is really good and very popular. Its entetaining to watch. It's definitely worth watching...

Disadvantages: Too many adverts, crappy sidebar credit for all peak-time/networked programmes (idealogy sucks), no longer the ITV it was originally meant to be

Apart from anything, too much emphasis is on the programme coming next/later which seems to suggest "oh you don't want to know who plays Adam Chance in Crossroads, here watch a trailer for The Bill instead. Oh dear, Adam's gone by on the credit list that you couldn't and didn't have time to read anyway so you may as well watch the trailer, yes?" Uh, no. There is a fine line between intrusive advertising and useful advertising. Slotting the things in between commercials was bad enough but running them over credits of networked shows is intrusive in my opinion and seems to suggest that I'm too thick to work out that the programme...

It's Only ITV, But I like It

Advantages: Some very good programmes
Disadvantages: Adverts, some dross, Barrymore

...on ITV – Crossroads, Coronation Street and Bad Girls. I have written separate opinions on all of these <yawn> so won’t go into too much detail about each one here. Suffice to say I think they are all really good programmes. I certainly don’t understand why Crossroads is getting so much criticism, it is miles better than the original series. ITV also rules the roost on a Saturday morning, with the wonderful Ant and Dec in SM:TV Live and CD:UK. Yes, they are temporarily leaving those shows to concentrate on their Saturday evening show, but will be back later in the year and in the meantime, Cat Deeley is continuing along with various guest presenters. For those without a DVD recorder of a VCR this service offers an excellent opportunity to catch up. This service was a new experience for me and having read several reviews as to the poor quality of the programmes screened I wasn?t expecting an awful lot. However I made my way to ITV.co.uk and followed the link for ITV Player. The website is extremely accessible and very user friendly. The ITV Player link takes you to a sub site specifically adapted to allow the user to find the programme/show they wish to watch and then to watch it. I was seeking Wuthering Heights, Part 2 having seen Part 1 last Sunday evening. The show wasn?t available online...
