Canon Ixus 100 IS - Small and oh so stylish

Advantages: Small, Stylish, Auto modes work well, Image Stabilization

...I borrowed this camera from a family member and gave it a thorough test over a 4 week period. The IXUS 75 is a 7-megapixel high-spec ultra-compact, featuring an f/2.8 - 4.9 3x zoom lens with a focal length range of 35-105mm, a large 3-in LCD monitor and face detection focusing. With dimensions of 91.6 x 56.8 x 19.6mm and weighing only 130g, this really is an ultra-compact model that will slip nicely into a jacket pocket. BuildIn terms of construction and design this is a nice camera to look at but I didn't really find it that comfortable to hold. The body comprises a sleek metal and plastic body that is a bit slippery and lacks grip. Another negative factor are the rather fiddly controls. ...In some respects I am writing this review to balance out a very unfair 1 star from another writer. Unfortunately another reviewer dropped/knocked the camera off a table and it landed lens first damaging the lens. Accidents happen but it is quite a tecnical bit of kit! The camera was an upgrade to my IXUS 500 as it's had a very tough life so far and I thought it was time to change. I use the 800 alongside my EOS400D so you could say I'm a bit of a Canon'aholic! The IXUS800, like all the IXUS range, has a nice, sleek, sturdy metal body which does protect it from knocks and drops. I bought the Canon Ixus 960 IS as a solution to taking a digital SLR, plus lenses etc. due to hand luggage restrictions as it easily fits in a pocket. The image quality is pin sharp, focussing exceptional and since I have problems with camera shake due to arthritis I was overjoyed to find that the image-stabiliser technology works really well, except in the very darkest of night shots (taken on the cruise ship's deck). Canon Digital IXUS 80 IS -nice little camera

Advantages: Nice little pocket camera with all the necessary features
Disadvantages: Can't really think of anything

...I am not an expert on digital cameras and this is just the second one I bought. So I cannot really compare the Ixus 80 with other cameras. Nevertheless, I really like it. Looks The Lxus 80 comes in Classic Silver, Caramel, Chocolate and Candy Pink in an aluminium body. It is small enough to fit in a pocket and can be tacken anywhere with no problems. As far as I can say it is very reliable and does brilliant pictures for a normal user. Features It works with 8 megapixels .The 3x zoom works for all the general snapshot moments. It comes with an Image Stabilization (IS moniker) to reduce camera shake. As far as I know this is not standard on all cameras yet, but becomes more normal in newer models. The lens is glass, so it?s definitely an advantage towards cameras with a plastic lens. You can certainly see that in the quality...

...I bought this camera when it was new over 2 years ago now. I is still as reliable as when first bought. Picture quality is excellent and ease of use superb. This is one of the best digital compact cameras i have used an although was over £200 when new can be bought at a fraction of the cost now. Screen on rear is adequate size but the newer version (Ixus 60 and above) have all the same features but a larger screen. If you are looking for a camera where picture quality is of most importance then for the money i feel you cant do much better than this particular camera or one from the same range depending on your budget. Only downside is that the red-eye reduction can occasionally be a bit hit or miss, or maybe its the way i use it...
