FREE DVDs

Advantages: Free trial, large choice, post included, new realeases
Disadvantages: see review

...I like movies and I like freebies, so when you get offered both in one swoop you?re bound to accept! I used my two week free trial with this company and remained with them for a couple of monthsbefore moving on to try many other companies free trials (and winning a new DVD player on Tesco DVD rental site on their free trial offer). I then had an email from DVDs 365 asking me to go back, and offering me a free DVD if I did so. I had just left Tesco (with my new DVD player) so I chose to go back with them. ∆◊◊ THE SERVICE THEY OFFER ∆◊◊ Basically it?s like going to a video shop and hiring films on DVD, except you don?t pay for each film you chose ? rather a monthly fee for which you can watch as many movies as you can fit in, for us this is usually around 8 a month (2 a week usually weekends...

Surprising Picture Quality - Panasonic DVD-S54

Advantages: Incredible picture quality when compared to my old non-upscaling player with a scart lead
Disadvantages: Sometimes disc drive can be really noisy when DVD's initially load.

...At first I wasn't convinced by up-scaling DVD player technology but was persuaded after reading an article in "What Hi-Fi? Sound and Vision" magazine. Unable to afford a Blu-Ray player my sister and I bought the Panasonic DVD-S54 to match our parents brand new Panasonic TX-32LZD80 LCD television as their Christmas 2008 present. Admittedly it was a slightly selfish purchase as we both live at home and wanted to watch DVDs on the big new TV ourselves! We bought the player from the electrical retailer Comet for about £100 just before Christmas so there were no discounts applied. On Christmas day when opened we found a relatively small box tightly packed with the player in polystyrene packaging. All the components such as cables, remote and manuals were well presented in their own protective plastic bags, to keep them protected. The player...

Jack Johns... zzzzzz....

Advantages: Unbelievably chilled out
Disadvantages: Little samey but only if your being picky

...Jack Johnson is an Acoustic guitarist and songwriter born in Hawaii. This is his third album and is a characteristically mellow offering and should appeal to anyone who knows how to chill out. The album is packaged in a nice cardboard case which is a yellow background and a silhouette of a tree with a lone guitarist resting against it. This guy is seriously laid back. his album has 15 tracks but also comes with a bonus track when bought in the UK. A lot of people who have read my reviews will tend to like something completely different but I don't think many people will dislike JJ. My only complaint is that he's TOO chilled. The Album [Track 1 - Better Together] A floating acoustic riff drifts through the beginning of this track and the vocals make it practically feel like a lullaby. The lyrics are positive...

All about Jack

Advantages: wonderfuul dogs, caring attentive and easy to care for
Disadvantages: Some can be nasty if not trained right

...We inherited Jack about 10 years ago he was kept in a shed because the owner?s daughter preferred his brothers to him! Paul my boyfriend swapped him for some tarmac (the owner was a farmer and its quite common for them to need tarmac). Paul took him home and he lived with him and his mum for a few years until we got our own house and he?s been with us ever since. About the Jack Russell breed ----------------------------------- The founder of the breed was Parson John (Jack) Russell. Who bred these great dogs in the nineteenth century. This terrier is supposed to have originally been crossed with a Devon hunt terrier. The breed varies in size and coat texture, I know some really skinny dogs but our Jack is a hefty 11kg! The recommended weight is between 5-8kg (oops!) Jack is a smooth coat but some terriers have a rough coat...

Adopting Jake the Jack Russell

Advantages: Loving, company, exercise for me!
Disadvantages: Barking at other dogs

...We took over a two year old Jack Russell a month ago, from some friends who were moving house and couldn't take him with them. My husband and kids had been campaigning to have a dog for several years, but I wasn't keen as I knew that I would end up being the one doing all the walks etc and didn't think I could cope with the extra work. However, I'd gradually come around to the idea and decided that a Jack would be the breed that I'd most likely risk, as they were the only type of dog that I'd had experience looking after, as we used to dog-sit Nipper the Jack for my in-laws when they went on holiday. So when our friends asked for anyone who could give Jake a home at short notice, we decided to go & meet him, and consequently brought him home. The first night he was here, he slept in our bed, between us, initially with his head on mine...

Jack and Sarah

Advantages: Good balance of comedy and drama, good performances, quirky.
Disadvantages: Horrid soundtrack, Samantha Mathis.

...The only reason I had a watch of Jack and Sarah was the constant comments I kept reading about how Kevin Smith's Jersey Girl was little more than a remake of it. While there are certainly some similar plot points, on the whole though I would say that the two are entirely different. The best part though was finding a nice little film that I probably would have missed otherwise. Walking the line between drama and comedy is not an easy one for any film. If you're trying to push serious themes, it becomes difficult to crack jokes at the same time. Likewise, a dramatic event in a comedic film can be a very jarring experience that works against the film. I'm glad to say though that Jack and Sarah balances between the two very steadily, only stumbling from time to time. The film focuses on Jack (Richard E Grant), a London lawyer who...

<3 Jack!

Advantages: looks good, can be cheap now
Disadvantages: /

...I love Doctor Who. I'll admit my knowedge of the original series is quite weak, but you can ask me anything about the 21st Century series' and I can rattle off a fair bit to you! So what is it anyway? Well Doctor Who is a sci-fi family show about a Time Lord named the Doctor. He travels around the galaxies through time and space in his blue box known as the Tardis (Time and Relative Dimension in Space), saving the innocent from the evil. Sometimes he travels alone though more often than not it is with a companion. One of his companions, as sort of tag along, is Captain Jack Harkness, who we met in Series One, and then again in Series 3 and 4. He is a Time Agent, so he knowns about alien tech and suchlike. He fell for the gorgeous Rose Tyler (Billie Piper) and although he and the Doctor did not get along too greatly, they soon became...

Jack and Jamie!

Advantages: looks good, cheap
Disadvantages: can be hard to find

...I love Doctor Who, it's such an amazing show! It is a TV programme, aired on the BBC, about a Timelord named the Doctor (a Timelord travels around the universe saving the innocent from the evil creatures!). Doctor Who has been on and off our screens for many years, and has recently reappeared back in 2005 with the 9th Doctor played by Chris Eccleston. In this first series, we had a double episode, 'The Empty Child' and 'The Doctor Dances'. These episodes took us back to World War Two during the Blitz, when the Doctor takes his companion Rose (Billie Piper) back to London. Theyre, Rose meets a Time Agent called Captain Jack. Meanwhile, the Doctor has to try and solve a mystery - who is the little boy with the gas mask who keeps asking for his mummy? This little boy is also known as the Empty Child. The BBC have produced many 5" figures...

The Jack Russell

Advantages: Will keep you laughing for hours
Disadvantages: Can get abit tempermental

...The Jack Russell Terrier takes its name from the Reverend John Russell who bred one of the finest breads of terriers for fox hunting. Personality -------------- The Jack Russell is a happy, bold and energetic dog they are extemely loyal, intelligent and assertive. Their greatest attribute is their working ability, closely followed by their excellent qualities as a companion. They can be equally contented bolting a fox or chasing a toy in your living room or equally content at killing a sock in your living room or a rat in the barn. There assertive nature and boundless energy can sometime be overwhelming. I am all too well aware of this, my 3 year old Jack Russell fits all of the above. You cant let him see you get a pair of socks out because he'll take them, he spends alot of the running from one end of the room to the other, he...

Jack Wills - Casual, Well-Made, Modern Clothes

Advantages: Great Quality, Up-market, well known brand, lots to choose from
Disadvantages: Price!

...If you are looking for good-quality, colourful, casual clothes then you will very much enjoy going to this shop! *In A Nutshell* Jack Wills is a popular upmarket high street/designer retailer store, and sells casual clothes for both men and women. It also sells a small range of homeware including duvets and pillowcases, cushions, mugs, bathroom cosmetics and towels. There are stores nationwide. The target audience is for people in their teens to about their mid 20's, although I have seen many other people on either side of that age bracket wearing their clothes! *The Good* Jack Wills sell a wide range of cool, brightly-coloured, modern, extremely well made garments that - unless you stain it, rip it, outgrow it etc - will last for a long time. They have a great variety of clothes, although they are all just a variation on the 'theme...
