The Illustrated Mum, Jacqueline Wilson

Advantages: Really emotional, funny, really good to read
Disadvantages: Can't think of any

...Jacqueline Wilson, The Illustrated Mum I thought this book was funny, at times, and really emotional at others. It is very realistic and you can?t help by sympathize for the characters in this book. The book is about a little girl called Dolphin who adores her mother: she?s got wonderful clothes, bright hair and vivid tattoos all over her body. She definitely lives a colourful life. Dolphin?s older sister, Star, also loves her but is beginning to wonder if staying with a mum whose temper can be as flashy as her body-art is the best thing for the girls Dolphin doesn?t know her father, and Star doesn?t know hers, except that Marigold thinks Micky, Stars father was the love of her life, and Dolphins father only had the same name. All of a sudden, Marigold gets the chance to meet Stars father again, in a concert, and she...

Wilson tries 'gothic' but loses the element of surprise

Advantages: realistic, mildly enjoyable
Disadvantages: predictable, dramatic event too sudden and unresolved

...This is the first Jacqueline Wilson book I have tried reading (as part of shadowing the ?Berkshire Book Award? and I have to admit that it was better than I?d anticipated. Wilson is famous for writing amazingly popular stories for young children, around 10-13, and has been honoured with many of the UK?s top awards for children?s books. She was also the Children?s Laureate for 2005-7 and was awarded an OBE in 2002. Obviously I was aware of her popularity, but I was convinced that her books were over-hyped, dull and simplistic. (These are the same reasons why I have never read any of the Harry Potter books.) ?My Sister Jodie? tells the story of two very different sisters: Pearl is shy/reserved and her sister Jodie is much more confident with a flair for getting in to trouble. The story is told from Pearl?s perspective, but Jodie...

About the bookaholic Jaqueline Wilson!!!

Advantages: She is a fantastic auther and her books are amazing
Disadvantages: You will be hooked on her books for ever!!!

...Jaqueline Wilson was more than a fortnight late for birth. She was due for the beggining of December but arrived on the 17th of December 1945.And when she finaly was born her mouth was caught on forceps that were trying to pull her out.So when she was born her mouth was lopsided and partly parilised. When she was still a child she read non stop her favorite books were Nancy Plum and Adventures with Rosalind. And her favorite authers were Enid Blyton,Eve Garnett and Pamela Brown. But her all time favorite auther was Noel streatfield. As she got older she wrote around about 84 books and probably her most succsesful book was Tracy Beaker who even made it to get her own program. My top two books wrote by her are Kiss and My sister Jodie. Both are sad in parts as most of Jaqueline Wilsons books are.She has even wrote a book about he...

The Kitty is let out of the bag...

Advantages: detailed, descriptive, not too long
Disadvantages: can be slightly hard to follow

...Secrets by Jacqueline Wilson This story is written from the point of view of two people, each granted their own, individual chapters. Though, they are not totally different. Each character's story is written in the form of a diary, and both of their unique, separate plots are joined together to form one great story! Treasure This is the first character whose world we are invited into, straight away finding out about her traumas. She moved to live with her Nan, after an unfortunate event at home; her mum's boyfriend lashed the side of her face with his belt, scarring her badly. Despite missing her mum, who she wonders whether she actually cares or not, Treasure fortunately prefers life at her Nan's safe, warming home and adores her Nan to bits. They live in one of the more 'run down' estates, and Treasure moves school...

Jacqueline YOU ARE AMAZING!

Advantages: jacqueline wilson is such a talented author
Disadvantages: none! Jacqueline YOU ARE AMAZING!

...Jacqueline Wilson has been a writer ever since she was 17 years of age. She first started writing professionally when she worked for the popular teenage magazine, Jackie and ever since then she has been writing. Wilson has led a very interesting life. Jacqueline Wilson was born on December in 1945, in Bath, England. She was the daughter of Harry Albert and Margaret Aitken. At age 19 Jacqueline married William Millar Wilson and she had a daughter, Emma Fiona. Jacqueline went to school at Coombe Girls School in Surrey where she later went back as an old girl to talk to the pupils about her books. She knew that she wanted to be a writer from a very early age and wrote her first little book, about a family called The Maggots, when she was only nine years of age. She graduated at Carshalton Technical College. Later she worked...

Review of Suitcase Kid - Jacqueline Wilson

The Most Borrowed Author In Britain!

Advantages: A good read, great illustrations
Disadvantages: Might be too old or young for your child

...I was recently asked to review a children’s book for a parenting website, which I was very happy to do. When I discovered it was going to be the latest Jacqueline Wilson release and I’d get to keep the book, I was delighted. Being a mum of four, we have lots of her other books in the house and I knew this one would be gratefully received. When the book arrived, its bright blue colour and cutesy cartoon drawings certainly made it an appealing read – so much so that it got whisked away from me for a few days, while my ten year old and thirteen year old daughters both tried to read it simultaneously! A few days later, it was my turn. I like Jacqueline Wilson. I have read some of her books before and enjoyed them all, even though I’m 34, which is probably outside the intended age group. She is also something...

Pucker Up!

Advantages: Plot, characters
Disadvantages: Slow at times

...Kiss by Jacqueline Wilson "Sylvie and Carl have been friends since they were tiny children. They've always played together, eaten meals with each other's families, called each other boyfriend and girlfriend...and deep down, Sylvie has always believed that they'd end up married to each other. They even have a magical fantasy world that belongs to them alone - as does the Glass Hut where it's all created, at the bottom of Carl's garden. But as they become teenagers, things begin to change. They go to different schools and have different friends. Sylvie still wishes she could spend all her time with Carl. But Carl has a new friend, Paul, who is taking all his attention. Carl seems much less happy to be called Sylvie's boyfriend and in a game of spin the bottle he avoids kissing her. Sylvie can tell his feelings have changed and that her...

This book is the best one by J Wilson

Advantages: A brilliant book
Disadvantages: You can not put it down

...This wonderful, lively story by Jacqueline Wilson is one not to be missed. It tells the story of a girl called Jade coping with her life after her best friend Vicky has been killed (after being hit by a car). Vicky comes back to life as an angel and can talk to Jade but she starts to stop Jade from doing things that she really wants to do... This book is the latest one released by Jacqueline Wilson and is definitely the best one written by her. This book is worth buying and definitely worth reading. To find out more read the book!...

Tracy Beaker strikes again

Advantages: Interesting events and characters
Disadvantages: Goes on and on a bit too long (!!!)

..."The Dare Game", another wonderful Jacqueline Wilson novel. After recently finishing Girls Under Pressure, I liked he friendly and chatty style of writing so much that I decided to read this. From just the bright green and purple cover you can tell what an exciting book it's going to be. Every few pages there are little pictures or the main character Tracy Beaker, draw by Nick Sharratt. This does help remind you that although a thrilling read, this is just a childrens book. It's the follow-on to a previous writing by Jacqueline, The Story of Tracy Beaker, and follows the life of an orphaned child, Tracy, who is a extremely head-srtong character that manages to get into all sorts of bother. We are led through a quite difficult period of her life where she beings to explore the world, gets, unsucsessfully reunited with her mother...
