...The Jaguar XK8 is quite simply the best car I have ever driven. The engine is beautiful smooth, refined yet extremely powerful. The engine a 4.0 V8 produces some 290bhp and the torque is equally impressive. What I think really works with this car is the exquisite mating to the 5 speed automatic gearbox. The box is smooth yet makes very quick and precise gear changes. The handling is good for a car of this size and despite the size, it is relatively easy to place on the road. Although I suspect there are better handling cars in this class perhaps the Porsche 911 it is the overall aspects of the car that make the XK8 great. Added to this is the fact that the XK8 is glorious to behold. If I were to describe the car I would say it is both the beauty and the beast rolled into one.... Read review

...Having driven Volkswagens for over 6 years, I recently purchased a special edition 'classic' Daimler XJ40 (1987). Having located my local Jaguar Dealership in Rybrook Chester I was able to book the car in on short notice & was provided with a thorough check over on the car, resulting in a detailed list of work needed, accompanied by cost & a helpful priority rating - all without cost, hard sell or obligation. Collecting the car after it's first service (60k) )I was told that unlike the agreed cost estimated, the bill was some £180.00 less! I doubt anyone else will ever look after their customers as well. If you have any type of car & need quality advice, sensible honest prices, they have my utmost admiration. Top job Rybrook - I may even buy a new XK8 just for that!... Read review

...The Jaguar S-Type is a sound entry into the luxury car market. The 3.0 V6 is smooth refined and if worked hard extremely powerful. Handling is good for a car in this class but lacks some feel. It can also be tricky to place the S-Type on the road at first but it soon becomes a distant problem. My one major complaint is the interior of which is only average. In my eyes the warm luxury cosseted feel of the XJ and XK models cannot be beaten. Whilst I got out of the car feeling it could be improved in some areas I still got out wanting one because whilst the car is not perfect as an ownership prospect it is nigh on unbeatable.... ...Having owned my XK8 for over six months and covered 8000 miles, I still have nothing but praise for this automobile. What a shame we couldn’t make this product without help from over the water. Now that's my dream over. Now for my opinion as I have only had a test drive. The car looks and drives fantastic. I would opt for the CATS suspension (as fitted on the XKR) and am impressed how such a large car handles. Still not as nimble as many two seater sports models but as a grand tourer, not much betters this machine. Build quality is faultless. The car in meteorite silver looks gorgeous and classy only beaten by the racier red big brother XKR. I was worried the facelift model would date this present model but am relieved having just viewed a 2001 model that the changes are very subtle and unnoticeable to any other than a car... ..., the kid has become a pensioner and finally has made his life long dream come true. After decades in Volkswagens, BMWs and Mercedes I have made up my mind to own a new XK 4.2 L cabriolet from Jaguar. It was immediate passion after having completed several test drives with both the XK and the XKR and read various tests in magazines, which unanimously passed the laurels for 2006 and 2007 to this magnificent car and his supercharged big brother, the XKR. Earlier prejudices against the brand established during the bad production decades between 1975 and 1995 have been completely erased. Well, more than 400 HP were too much for my wife, so we settled for the "small breasted" XK with the 4.2 L engine, eight cylinders and little less than 300 HP. ...The XK8, its been around for a while now. Since 1996 the Browns Lane factory near Coventry has been churning out these subtle beasts. There have been a number of minor changes to the styling and specifications during that time, but ultimately, the car has stayed the same - an evolution and modern predecessor of the heart-achingly beautiful 60's E-Type. Shortly, the production will cease, making way for the next generation XK that no doubt, will be as equally stunning, yet equally as fast as the current model. Since its launch in 96', the XK series has always been the flagship for the company.
