Jakarta Traffic Jam

Advantages: fresh situation based on natural view
Disadvantages: traffic jam around Jakarta

...Indonesia Miniature Park is a nice place to weekend. We can see a variety view, traditional life and home miniature belonged to Indonesia people. As we know Indonesia has many ethnics. Five big ones are Java, Sunda, Melayu, Batak, Minang. This place is not far from Airport (Bandara) Sekarno-Hatta. The main problem in Jakarta is traffic jam. Jakarta is not only Metropolis that makes any activity centered here, but many recreation is placed in Jakarta. You'd better choose 'ojek' (motorcycle transportation) if in hurry to go from airport than getting on and waiting for taxi. Without taking your problematic choice, you will trapped on the street at that time. It is better for us to see the time table, to see the school curriculum activity, to ask the way you straight. Just give the map, many people will help your worry. Just celebration...

The Big Durian

Advantages: Transport centre.
Disadvantages: Smelly, polluted and expensive

The durian is a large tropical fruit with a phenomenally strong and unpleasant smell - a ripe one can be scented at a distance of several dozen meters. And Jakarta is equally offputting - smelly, polluted, vast, complex, noisy and generally unpleasant. If you're going to Indonesia on holiday I'd say get out of Jakarta as fast as you can - either fly on and dont' leave the airport, or opt for a train (surprisingly efficient and rather nice in the top classes - DON'T travel economy, however tight your budget) to somewhere else in Java. Jakarta is also a LOT more expensive than pretty much anywhere else on Java and you'll pay twice or three times as much as elsewhere even for taxis, food and accommodation. ...I have been flying to Jakarta from Toronto for the last three years and has been using Etihad Airlines. I find the ground staff in Toronto, to be the best i have encountered in all my years of travel. However, the ground staff in Abu Dhabi needs to improve their effeciency. It may be that their offices out of the airport are too congested, with dozens of flight arriving and leaving every hour. This facility needs to be upgraded immediately, now that there are other compeittors flying out of Toronto. The food on board is acceptable, but the the response time of the Stewardess/stewards needs to be dramicatically improved.I just returned from Jakarta, Indonesia on January 25,2008 and have found all or most of the seats out of Jakarta to Abu Dhabi were filled. Paradise islands an hour from the city

Advantages: Close and convenient from Jakarta
Disadvantages: Expensive!

...There aren't many cities that can boast such beautiful tropical islands so close to their ports. Pulau Seribu is Indonesian for Thousands Islands (yes, as in the dressing) and although that's a bit of an exaggeration, there are over a hundred of them. The drawback is that most are owned by the Jakarta elite and hence aren't open to the public. Those that are are owned by hotels, who generally will only sell you a package, including ferry, food and everything bar snorkel hire on the island. They're very expensive, especially by Indonesian standards, but if you can afford it well worth the trip. Accommodation on the one I went to was fairly primitive, especially for the price, but it was bliss to be able to escape the city and stay somewhere so clean and quiet. All we did was swim, snorkel, eat and lie about in the sun and it was magic....
