Advantages: non stop action
Disadvantages: limited story line

...Gladiator has to go down as one of the most memorable films of the year 2000 so far. We have been waiting a long time for a new film of this type. And this one came along with style. It is jam packed full of effects and stunts. The story line suffers slightly because of this, but overall it is a very enjoyable film, that comes highly recommended. If action films are your thing, then is definitely a film for you. It will have you on the edge of your seat from start to finish.... Read review

Advantages: the most interesting dross programme on TV
Disadvantages: not really a patch on Chris Morris earlier efforts

But in an effort to redeem the DVD let me run through the extra features: DVD ONE 1) Each episode has an alternative version such as Episode 2 again - in miniature bouncing round the screen Episode 4 - in lava lamp mode The first 19 seconds of Episode 5 2) Japanese version 3) Pilot version DVD TWO All episodes again under the name "JAAAAAAAAMM" This are the same episodes but the music has been slowed or otherwise distorted and the picture is phasing in and out. Advantages: Better than some straswberry jams
Disadvantages: Not as good as some other Strawberry jams

...As a treat this weekend I made some scones, nothing nicer than freshly baked scones strawberry jam and cream. Problem uh huhh I had no strawberry jam in the cupboard, no cream either but I did expect to find no cream. I went to our local shop only 3 minutes walk away. I bought some cream and looked at the range of jams, no choice really only one type of strawberry jams Hartley's. So I bought the jam it cost me£1.14p... Now Hartley's is an ok brand of jam usually fairly good. Hartley's jam is now part of the large premier food brand and available in a lot of stores. The jam I bought was their best their Best everyday jam .This jam comes in quite an attractive shaped jar. with a red strawberry designed label with the Hartleys logo and Best srawberry jam written on it. Advantages: Genius
Disadvantages: Slows to the end

...Excellent This film is jam packed with surreal wacky and obscure humour that made the Monty Python gang the king of comedy that they are today. Pure Genius! I his takes you through the many stages of life from birth through killing people to death. My favourite bit in the whole film is the Every Sperm Is Sacred scene which will be forever etched into my memory as one of the greatest movie moments of all time. A load of great sketched punctuated by the well-known Gilliam animation does, in my opinion, slow a bit towards the end. Unmistakably Python.... Read review

Advantages: Hilarious
Disadvantages: Similar themes to both DVDs

...I bought this DVD after seeing his performances on the BBC and on YouTube, and it did not disappoint. Both "Part Troll" and "Cosmic Jam" have what distinguishes Bill Bailey from many other comedians - live musical performances - which add tremendously to the different comedic aspects of the show. It definitely helps that Bill Bailey is a trained, professional musician and this really comes through with his unbelievably imaginative and skilled playing. In fact, music provides the backbone of the both shows, and is certainly an amusing, soft relief from the continuous talk not seen in this performance. For those unfamiliar with Bill Bailey I think the most useful way to describe his style is more of an entertainer using the medium of music than a straight, stand-up comedian. Advantages: Great songs, catchy, good lyrics
Disadvantages: A couple of duffs, some songs start to sound similar

...'d never heard of them until a few years ago! The Jam formed in the early seventies, but didn't have their first hit until the Year of Punk - 1977. The members were Paul Weller, Rick Bulker and Bruce Foxton. This collection, and others under the same title, could be called a ploy to rake in the dosh. I really had to search for this version of The Sound of The Jam, because from searching on Ciao, I see there is this 2CD + DVD collection, a single disc, and a single disc with a DVD. I own the single disc on CD, but I have this as a download, just without the videos. I wish I had found this before I bought the CD, but I am definitely going to invest in this now. For a Jam compilation, I think, if you just want a quick introduction, the single CD is the way to go, but if you want something more substantial, this is it. Is 49 songs enough for you... ...The remastered deluxe edition with bonus DVD is a great addition for the Jam fan's collection. The original album stands on it's own merits as one of the pivotal works of the post punk/new wave movement, with power, belief and well crafted songs, coming together and defining for the first time The Jam sound. The album opens with a searing comment on the music scene of the day with the title track, an honest commentary on the hangers on and false cheerleaders that exploit young artists' naivety and then fail to support them in tougher times. All of this backed with a trademark classic thumping bass and jagged guitar sound. This segues neatly into the second track, To Be Someone (Didn't We Have A Nice Time), a slightly gentler approach but still full of emotion, evoking a fallen star looking back on his finished career. Advantages: possibly the best concert dvd out there
Disadvantages: you wont be able to stop watching it

...I have been a fan of the chili peppers for a while, however was very disappointed with their last live dvd off the map. This dvd more than makes up for it, with excellent quality sound, excellent footage, floating between images of the crowd and the band enough to maintain interest, whilst also staying in focus on the band long enough so as not to be too confusing and fast paced. Anyone who has seen the chili's live since by the way will know it is a stunning show, and this set in the beautiful grounds of slaine castle is no exception. The jams in between songs are simply sublime, making some of the sets seem like one long song in a way akin to the ending of Abbey Road by the Beatles. With all of the favourites covered here, along with a Ramones cover (Havanna Affair) and a little The Chantels cover from the 1950's (Maybe) sung... Read review

Advantages: Two Bill Bailey shows for the price of one!
Disadvantages: Some people may not enjoy the surrealness

...Bill Bailey is perhaps most famous for his part in 'Black Books' or his captaincy on 'Never Mind The Buzzcocks'. What you get here is two of his stand-up routines, one taken from his "Cosmic Jam" tour of 1996 and the other from his 2001 "Bewilderness" tour. "Cosmic Jam" appears for the very first time on DVD, allowing you to see for yourself Bill's unique take on things like the influences Cockney music had on classical composers, music festivals and what would happen if insects rouse up against their human oppressors, ("nightmare vision, it probably won't happen, alright?") 'Cosmic Jam' is one of Bill's more wacky stand-up routines. A lot of the subject matter revolves around drugs. This might put some people off, but Bill isn't necessarily advocating their use, merely relating his own 'experiences'. If you're dead against drugs... Read review

Advantages: Easy going
Disadvantages: can get a bit dull after a while

...The texas greatest hits album might not be the Cd you would rant and rave about most, it is hardly going to the the CD that you never take out of the player but it is the sort of music that will suit any mood. It has an excellent mix of tracks, you find yourself humming along to your favorite songs while quickly coming to love the less familiar ones too. I find that this Cd is perfect to listen to as background music and it actually seems to help me work. I can sing along without losing concentration. It is also perfect for listening to in the car, giving me that glorious state of mind somewhere between feeling suicidally fed up of traffic jams and road rage!!! This album belongs in anyone's collection - it is becoming something of a classic... Read review
