I bought this book a while back, picked it up and put it down. I thought it would be a ghost story that I wouldnt like. Well I was right and I was wrong. Whilst it is a ghost story, it is in a class of its own. An extrodinary written ghost story which grips you from the first pages and doesn't let go until the last full stop. Oh, and I was wrong, I loved the book ! The book begins with Herberts usual fantastic discriptive talents, setting Crickley Hall clearly in the readers mind. ...The Secret of Crickley Hall. We begin the book at Crickley Hall and right from the start you can feel that this place is a troubled place, a place of great unhappiness and evil. The book initially centres around the family Caleigh. Father Gabe, his wife Eve and their two daughters Cally and Loren. They have an unhappy past, there should have been a son, Cameron, who disappeared one day and has never been seen since. This sadness shadows the whole family and they all struggle to cope with it. And then they move into Crickley Hall and things go from bad to terrifying! Located in the Devils Gorge in Devon and seemingly always shrouded by rain and chilling mists, Crickley Hall is a grim and awful place. The secret of Crickley hall

...I have read a couple of James Herberts books before and knew he was a great writer i bought this book for £3.75 at Asda after my mum said she would like the book and i thought it sounded a great book to read. The secret of Crickley hall is about the Caleigh family Gabe, the father, Loren, the eldest daughter, Cally (Catherine) the youngest daughter and Eve,the mother who move to Devon temporarily so Gabe can work and so that Eve can get over the loss of losing her son who went missing in the park a year ago. When Eve sees Crickley hall outside she doesnt like the place and when she enters the hall gets the feeling that the place is haunted and throughout the book strange things begin to happen. Halls Soothers

...It's that time of year again, winter!! and to start it off I have a cold so this morning at the station I bought my favourite pack of cough sweet, Halls Soothers. Each packet was £0.65 but this was a station and I know you can get them cheaper in places like Boots etc. Halls are quite an impressive company. According to their website they account for more than 50% of international cough drop sales and their Halls Soothers range is the UK's number 1 medicated confectionery product. ...the same. The lockers were large enough for me to share one with my mam (and also my niece, one day when my sister didn?t go swimming) so we found we only needed to take £1. The lockers also had space to hang your clothes too. There were toilets and showers in the changing area as well as a machine to spin the water out of the swimming costumes, which worked very well. I didn?t know what it was at first but my dad told us about the one in the male changing area so I went back into the ladies and used it. Checkout Checkout was smooth and easy and we had no problems. ...250 years ago the West Yorkshire town of Halifax was at the centre of the textile trade. A few decades later textile mills would spring up all along the valley in which Halifax sits but back in the 1770's most of the cloth was made in the local people's houses on handlooms. The Piece Hall opened in 1779 as a place where these traders could meet and trade their cloth. It was built to replace a smaller building called The Cloth Hall.
