...Opening with a sequence set in the not too distant future, unstoppable killer Jason Vorhees is being held captive by a group of scientists at the Crystal Lake Research Facility. They've discovered that Jason has an unheard of ability to regenerate skin tissue, therefore explaining his inability to die. However, when he escapes, he and one remaining scientist are criogenically frozen for 300 years. Batemans Beer Festival, small but very good.

Advantages: Small but every bit as good as any big festival
Disadvantages: none at all if you get there for the beer.

...Bateman?s Brewery is in Wainfleet, Lincolnshire, on route to Skegness. Access is easy by train with a station at Wainfleet or by road just follow the A52 to Skegness and turn off at Wainfleet and follow the signs for Bateman?s or just look for the mill. I work on their Beer Festivals, and it is great fun. This year they had 10 barrels, which is a modest amount, but as it runs from Friday night until they run out on Saturday it can be just enough. We sold a lot on Friday and we bumped into a few people on the Saturday night in Boston who had travelled over for the festival and where disappointed that there was no beer left. So just for those who didn?t get a taste these are the beers of the festival. Jason upgraded!

Advantages: Fresh sotryline, fresh characters, bloody good fun!
Disadvantages: It's not scary, but that's not the point...

...Two years after 'Halloween' came 'Friday the 13th' in 1980, a quick cash in on the genre. It was a decent horror movie, scary and bloody. After that came 8 sequels which weren't up to scratch. They were made quickly, without thought and blood-thirsty resulting in movies that only hard-core fans of the series could enjoy. Then came Jason X, a movie that you can enjoy without having to see the previous 9 and without having to be a hard-core fan. After numerous failed attempts to kill him off, Jason (Kane Hodder) is set to be cryogenically frozen until Rowan (Lexa Doig) can work out what to do with him. Except that things don't quite go to plan. Scientists and military personnel are killed leaving Rowan to fend for herself. She finally suceeds in leading him into and trapping him in the cryogen chamber but unfortunately for her...

...Well the title says it all. Well, almost, you'll have to read on to understand. Of all the cult horror classics that the modern film culture had to go and destroy why did they decide to anhiliate the Friday the 13th enigma. If you haven't seen the film and dislike spoilers please don't read on because i'm so disgusted at this film i'm intent on telling everyone. Jason Vorhees,or just plain old Jason to you and me, has been captured and locked down deep inside a research facility. I'm assuming this happened during one of his many previous Friday 13th incarnations and somewhere along the line he has apparently developed the ability to regenerate lost tissue. Where, Why, How? Mystery Man by Colin Bateman; Murder is our Business

Advantages: Humourous, light reading and good for holidays
Disadvantages: Neuroses of the hero can be annoying

...drivers, a wealthy publisher and an assortment of oddball clients. The story converges to a murderous climax involving Auschwitz, an ex-Nazi, a ballet dancer and a powerpoint presentation. The final end of the book is very weird and leaves the ?life of the hero? open for follow on books. In my opinion, the Anglo Saxon swearing is a bit overdone, even allowing for the characters and the setting. However it did not spoil an enjoyable summer read. The book is probably not everyone?s come of tea as the ?hero?s? personal problems, although generally humorous becomes annoying and even repelling at times. This is the first time I?ve read a Colin Bateman novel; I selected it based on the fact that it was a Richard and Judy summer read (they advised Shadow of the Wind ? which is in my list as an all time favourite) and I would have given it...

Surprising Picture Quality - Panasonic DVD-S54

Advantages: Incredible picture quality when compared to my old non-upscaling player with a scart lead
Disadvantages: Sometimes disc drive can be really noisy when DVD's initially load.

Unable to afford a Blu-Ray player my sister and I bought the Panasonic DVD-S54 to match our parents brand new Panasonic TX-32LZD80 LCD television as their Christmas 2008 present. Admittedly it was a slightly selfish purchase as we both live at home and wanted to watch DVDs on the big new TV ourselves! We bought the player from the electrical retailer Comet for about £100 just before Christmas so there were no discounts applied. On Christmas day when opened we found a relatively small box tightly packed with the player in polystyrene packaging. The comics weren't expected to be that great but fans and others were surprised by the quality and consistency of them all, including me. The review here though is for Jason X SPECIAL Issue 1 released in November 2005. * sTORy * The story picks up after the events of the movie JASON X with Uber-Jason landing on Earth 2 in the year 2455. Don't worry though if you haven't seen the movie it doesn't matter as this is also a story on it's own. Jason Hotel Ipsos

Advantages: relaxing, quiet.
Disadvantages: Big hill to climb,

...I have just spent a week at the Jason Hotel in Ipsos Corfu. There is one other review for this hotel but as it is over a year old I thought i would write to update the hotel as things can change from year to year. On arrival to the hotel first impression was good from the outside, up a very steep hill lined with lemon trees Jason hotel has a square swimming pool and a out side pool bar. We checked in very early and was greeted by a night receptionist who gave us our keys and directed us to our floor. Jason has a lift to floors but it was broken for our week, this could prove difficult if you are elderly and need lifts to the 2 floors above. I carried our cases to our 2nd floor room which was a little hard work but we made it. On opening our door the first thing that i noticed was a smell of drains, which had a smell of pickled eggs...
