A well paced Java book

Advantages: Quick and to the point
Disadvantages: Probably not a huge amount of depth

The book is called 'Essential Java 2 Fast' and is by John Cowell. It covers all you need to know to to be able to write basic Java 2 applications and applets. Unlike mest other Java books I've looked at, this one isn't 'Noddy goes to toyland' in its approach. ;-) It's well paced, and tells you what you need to know, and as the title says - fast. It can be worked through in a matter of days, as the examples are not too heafty.
