A great all purpose JavaScript guide

Advantages: covers almost everything, well organized
Disadvantages: none that I can think of

...There are plenty of JavaScript books out there, but this is definitely one of the best. First of all it's O'Reilly and that means one thing, the best information for professional developers in almost every field of computer science programming. The book is very well structured. In Part 1, Core JavaScript, you get a very detailed presentation of the language, including its advanced features such as closures. In Part 2, Client-Side JavaScript, you are presented both the basic Document Object Model and the W3C standard DOM. You have a very interesting chapter on cookies and other client-side persistence techniques. The book also deals with JavaScript and XML, demonstrates how to use JavaScript serialize/deserialize objects into/from XML documents, how to do basic parsing It also introduces the E4X extension to the core JavaScript language...

Scripted Script - The Script

Advantages: Qaulity Of Songs ...
Disadvantages: -

...I'm not very good at writing music reveiw , but here goes!. What Is " The Script ". The Script is a very popular irish male band , who cover the genres of pop and soft rock music. The lead vocalist of the group is Danny O'Donoghue who resigns from Dublin , Ireland. David is joined by the guitarist Mark Sheehan , and Glen Power who plays the drums for the band... The Vocals The voice in this album is fantastic. Danny O' Donough sings brilliantly , where his voice seems to have a relaxing quality and such an irish touch , he is able to sing fast , slow or even high and low, he also has great clairty and intonation. I love how the songs are sang. I have never heard anyone sing like this is a very long time , I am very impressed!!!... The Backing/Instrumental The backing in some of the songs can be very...

Java

Advantages: General purpose programming langage, Object-oriented, Multi-threaded and portable
Disadvantages: not suitable for all tasks, and java applications are little bit slow

...I have been a programmer since i was 15 years old and i haven't seen such a powerfull langauge as JAVA. I programmed in many different langauges like V.Basic, C and C++ and i concluded that JAVA is the best language especially for networking perpuses. JAVA was originally designed by James Gosling in 1990. It started life as a new Programming language for Consumer Electroics, i.e intelligent refrigerators, toasters, TV's etc. From the start it was designed to be simple, bug free, network capable programming language, that could be written like C++, and like C++ it was OBJECT ORIENTED. JAVA language can be defined as: A platform-independent, object-oriented, multi-threading, dynamically linked programming language. here is a brief description of these nice features: 1) Platform-independent: The source code can be written in...

java and jini

Advantages: easier networking
Disadvantages: availability

...Full of Western promise was this offering from the stables of Sun; they also brought us the delightful Java. Alas, after letting the jini out of the bottle it failed to grant its wishes, at least to small devices. What am I talking about? Jini the networking concept. The idea is of ad hoc networks of autonomous agents, a plug and play world of autonomous devices. So what? Well it gives the scope to automate your home with devices that come out of the box, plug in and don't need to be given any complex set up before they can be connected to the network. How does it work? If a device (or service) has a service to offer it registers this service. If something wants to use it then the lookup service is consulted for its availability and its use is requested. What if it is logged on the lookup table but it doesn't work dude? Now...

A well paced Java book

Advantages: Quick and to the point
Disadvantages: Probably not a huge amount of depth

...If you're after a Java programming book and need to learn the basics fast, I don't think you can go far wrong with a book I borrowed from a friend. The book is called 'Essential Java 2 Fast' and is by John Cowell. It covers all you need to know to to be able to write basic Java 2 applications and applets. Unlike mest other Java books I've looked at, this one isn't 'Noddy goes to toyland' in its approach. ;-) It's well paced, and tells you what you need to know, and as the title says - fast. It can be worked through in a matter of days, as the examples are not too heafty. For your information, here is a snippet from the back cover, telling you what it covers : * The Java language * The abstract windowing toolkit * The new Java Swing components * Handling component, keyboard and mouse events * Polymorphism and inheritance...

Endless maze of Java (part1)

Advantages: amazing socio-cultural aspects
Disadvantages: quite hard to get around

...Rich with its socio-cultural roots which embrace the whole aspects of life in Java, the cooking in Java have rich tastes and flavors in its dishes. Brought by many people coming from different parts of Indonesia, the taste of original dish of Java has been dissolved into many authentic recipes which passed down for generations. Each tribe in Java has their own specialties in cooking. From traditional Satay from Madura island, Nasi Krawu and Semanggi Suroboyo from Surabaya, Jogjakarta's sweet gudeg, Solo's sego ayam, Bakpia pathok, Jakarta's Kerak Telor, West Java's Leunca, one will find a month alone to experience the rich taste of foods in Java, wouldn't be enough. From big restaurants to small vendors, Java will insist you to stay for more adventure....

Review of General: Java

Java's HOT

Advantages: Very relaxing warm and spicy aroma
Disadvantages: Smell doesn't last long, a little expensive for everyday use

...! (And both of us having acquired an aromatic whiff that stayed with us for the rest of the night!) Last Friday evening I decided to take the plunge and try one. After about 20 minutes of re-sniffing and reading, I finally selected, what was described as the NEW ?Hot Java? bath bomb to test ....(Some of this will be boring to those of you in the know, but please bear with me for the sake of all ?Lush Virgins?). >>>Description<<< What exactly is it? Well, quite simply, it is a solid 200g ball of powder, that dissolves and fizzes when coming into contact with the bath water. The ball was pink in colour, although on the site it actually looks orange. (The bathwater turns a pinky-orange colour though). >>>The Ingredients<<< Well, this was the reason I selected this one to start with. The ?bumph? states that the ingredients used, are...

Overview of the Java technologies that enrich the core Java language

Advantages: Platform Independent, Ideal for Internet/Web development, Free Development Environment, Rich in functionality, Difficult to accidentaly crash your system (Robust exception management and memory management).
Disadvantages: Slower than some lower level languages such as C++.

...This article will raise your awareness of the Java technologies that enrich the core Java language so that you know what everybody is on about when they talk about 'Java'. The Java technolgies examined are: Java Virtual Machine (JVM) Applet Java Plug-in Java Database Connectivity (JDBC) Servlets Java Server Pages (JSP) Java Beans Enterprise Java Beans (EJB) Enterprise Java Applications JAVA VIRTUAL MACHINE (JVM) What is the Java Virtual Machine (JVM)? Code written in the Java programming language is platform independent and compiled in to a Java class. When you use this class as an application, the Java class is interpreted by the Java Virtual machine so that it will perform the same action (e.g. display a window on the screen in Windows 98 Operating System, or on a SUN UNIX operating system). This is achieved by the Java...

Review of Java

Helpful Java textbook

Advantages: Clear, with advanced features covered
Disadvantages: A little too thick perhaps?

...When learning a new programming language (as all programmers must do to keep up with modern developments), it is vital to have a good book to teach you the basics, and guide you through the more complex aspects of the language. Indeed, it is also important to have a good reference to refer back to later. Core Java is one such book. It comes in 2 volumes, the first covering the basics and the second the more complex aspects. It breaks you in gently, but refrains from taking the approach of other books and loading you down with more theory than you need, and not actually giving you any code to work on until the 215th page. You feel as though you?re actually getting somewhere with Core Java, and this is encouraging. Important new technologies are covered in full, including Swing and XML parsing, and I think this is an important...

The Script are here to stay

Advantages: Great music and a good longevity of the album
Disadvantages: The next album will probably be better but I'll have both of them anyway

...The Script are a three-piece Irish rock band from Dublin, Ireland. They are new kids on the block and have released their first album, unsurprisingly called The Script. First albums are often not the best work produced by a band, and if the logic holds then there are some amazing albums to come from this band. Simply put, this first album, The Script, is great. There are clear influences on certain tracks on the album, with hints of Maroon 5, David Gray, Coldplay and Sting. The album is brilliantly diverse in its songs. This album can be listened to over and over again and there are so many good songs on it. They have been quite successful so far in their career. Their debut single "We Cry" received 'Single of the Week' on RTÉ 2FM, Today FM and by Jo Whiley on BBC Radio 1, and was Kevin Hughes' tune of the week on GCap Media...
