Javea: my first taste of spain!
Advantages: Javea= gorgeous, hot, cheap
Disadvantages: a very smelly fish market
...You may be surprised to find a 22 year old writing a review of a relatively quiet spanish town rather than a club orientated 18-30 style holiday. This is because much as I do like to drink on my holiday (after all thats what holidays are for!), I also quite like to remember what I've spent a year saving for! So instead of flying off to your typical 18-30 British holiday makers spanish destination, I decided to jet off to Javea, Costa Blanca, Spain. The holiday was mainly arranged by my boyfriend and his friend, who had both been there before and both declare that they are 'past their clubbing days'!
We arranged our holiday with James Villas, whose representatives were very helpful throughout (especially when the main fuse blew in the middle of the night and no-one knew where spanish fuse boxes were hiden and it was too dark to look...

Include the Peter Arnold winery in your Spanish travels
Advantages: Delicious wines
Disadvantages: Need a car
...or even buy just a couple to drink as the sun goes down. They are priced very reasonably between 3 and 7 euros (what a difference UK taxes and import duties make!).
Helen offers a sumptuous range of tapas to complement a pre-arranged wine tasting.
The Costa Blanca resorts of Alicante, Denia, Calpe, Javea, and Moraira are only a short 30 minute drive away from this rural idyll.

SUN SAND SEA SURF AND SARDINES
Advantages: peaceful, beautiful, unspoilt, cheap the list can go on
Disadvantages: can be far too hot
...Moraira on the Costa Blanca and is just under 2.5 hours flight away from Gatwick, the weather in June is as you would expect fantastic with temperatures up into the 90?s daily and with nearly 12 hours of sun shine what more could you ask.
Moraira is situated north of Alicante away from all the hustle and bustle of Benidorm. Moraira lies in a bay on the south eastern coast of Spain, between the larger resorts of Javea and Calpe, 80km around 1 hours drive from Alicante airport. And 110km 1 hour 15 minuets from Valencia, with excellent motorways and costal roads from both directions.
The Costa Blanca is known as Spain?s ?White Coast? which is because of its miles of white sandy beaches and warm water.
Moraira is a pretty fishing village based around the cobbled square with a very pretty marina an fish market, stunning churches...

a quiet place in the "Costa blanca"
Advantages: charming hotel, good customer service
Disadvantages: perhaps too small fitness club
...I have decided to talk about this wonderful hotel for many reasons. For you to know the best places in my country to visit,( I'm afraid this is not a very english sentence, suggestions welcome ) and for the staff of this cute hotel because they make me feel at home when I'm there.
LOCATION
the main reason to choose this hotel, is the location: in Costa Blanca, Alicante, there's a village called Jávea, between Cabo de la Nao and Cabo de San Antonio, protected from the north winds by a hill called "El Montgó". It lays In a coast full of nice coves ( we called them "calas") rocky and clear beaches , and orange trees with its azahar blossoms, that spreads their sweet smell during the flowering period. This specific smell makes the sorrounding areas a charming place to stay for the easter holidays.
The hotel is located in this...

The White Coast
Advantages: nice coast with lovely countryside
Disadvantages: Urbanizaciones taking over, month of August to avoid
...in the region to visit are Murcia with its cathedral, Elche with its impressive palm gardens, Cartagena and the Mar Menor (an inland sea), Alicante with its fortress high above the city and Alcoy and Jijona (almond capital) in the mountains.
Farther north there is incredible Benidorm, little Manhattan with highrisers, where I wouldn´t want to stay for free. The newest attraction there is "Terra Mitica", a historic Disney-like funpark, where you can ride roller coasters, sail into the harbour of ancient Alexandria, watch a ship battle with pirates and get wet at gigantic slides.....lots prettier are the smaller towns of Calpe, Moraira, Javea and Denia, but even there massive construction work due to affordable property prices is taking over.
These settlements are called "Urbanizaciones" and some 500.000 (!) Europeans mostly from...

Mr Hill
Advantages: Rooms, location overall experience
Disadvantages: Food, recreation, killjoy lifeguard!
...the golf AND pool view rooms, thinking it might be noisy overlooking the bar with its outside terrace but we needn't have worried, very peaceful and quiet all round!
The location is great, close to Denia and Javea (10 / 15 mins drive)and we took a trip into Moraira too which is a bit further away (30 mins) but a really nice resort.
So in summary:
1. Sack the Chefs - no really the food just isn't up to scratch.
2. Add some more recreation for the Kids / Adults.
3. Get rid of the horrible female lifeguard, she really is a nightmare.
And / or the Marriott Denia should make their minds up whether they want to be a family resort or cater for more 'well to do' adults / couples only. As it is the resort doesn't really satisfy either.........

IT'S NOT JAMES VILLA, IT'S MINE
Advantages: Something to look forward to, reasonable prices
Disadvantages: want to own one and can't afford it
...that ones available". Boy was I relieved, I was beginning to feel downhearted.
She asked for my parties details, which didn't take long as it's just me and David, then she asked me if we wanted flights from them. They will search for the best flights for you, not just bunging you on any old flight. If you don't book flights with them, then they can put an extra 15% onto your villa, which defeats the object.
The flight will take me to Alicante and cost me Ł159 with Air 2000, which I thought was reasonable.
Then we make our own way to Javea, which is about a one and a half hours drive from the airport.
She didn't talk me into travel insurance either, as I told her I work for a travel company who give me free insurance. They can also provide car hire if you like.
The deposit was Ł75 per person, which I paid on my Egg card, then I...

Great Family car and load lugger with comfort.
Advantages: Long distance comfort , practicality ,improved interior quality.
Disadvantages: economy could be better, heated front screen essential.
...dispute with the dealers the car was exchanged by Ford. Although there was an unusual noise the car never let me down once in 11000 miles.
This first car I had did not have the heated front windscreen as standard and unless you want to be sat on the driveway for 20 minutes or more on a freezing winter morning waiting for the diesel engine to warm enough to defrost the screen then don't get one without this.
I have had the replacement car since August 2005 and it has now covered 7000 miles This mainly due to a recent trip to Javea in Costa Blanca , Spain. Again with all the family and a fully loaded car.
The journey covered over 3000 miles and on the trip down and back the average speed was between 85 to 100 mph but nearer 100 ( you never seem to see any traffic cops or cameras in France and Spain ) in complete comfort. The family we...

Home from home
Advantages: Fun in the sun for all the family
Disadvantages: Maniac drivers!
...My parents decided to up and leave to live in the Costa Blanca when i was 18, that was nearly 7 years ago now. At the time I was not ready to leave all of my friends and girlfriend, but 7 years on i would love to do the same thing with my fiancee!
My parents have lived in Javea and Moraira, which are 2 areas within the Costa Blanca, around half an hour North of Benidorm. I will try and cover as much of the sights, sounds and smells of the area in this review, and try to recommend different places where i have had much enjoyment.
I'll start with Javea. This is a town which is split into 3 parts - The port area, the town, and the beach area, known as the Arenal. The port area contains several lovely little restaurants, especially fish restaurants, all at reasonable prices. The town area is a maze of streets, all typically Spanish...

Is this rearly Spain or is it heaven?
Advantages: Sun sea and a great atmosphere
Disadvantages: Too many morrocan's and Soth Americans.
...From the moment you land in Spain you will feel more laid back and de-stressed about life, and when this happens you know you are following in the footsteps of the locals. You see the Spanish have it down to a fine art, it is a proven fact that they tend to live longer than us and this is why!
I have family living in Javea, and for this reason of course I visit very often, maybe the other contributing factors do have a large part of my frequent trips so I will tell you what has captivated me so much, about this small resort on the Costa Blanca :).
The nearest airport is Alicante, which is about an Hour and 15 minutes away by car. The roads leading out off the airport towards Benedorm are mainly very fast moving motorways, which in summer can be very crowded all day and into the night so please be ready for a little delay?s on this...
