Well when this game came out on the PC in early 2002, I thought my luck was well and truly in. So let's go on a Jedi Journey (sic) and see whether or not the Force really was with me all along..... First off, I look at the price label on any game. Indeed, on any potential purchase full stop. I believe this game can now be purchased for around the £30 mark, which is a plus point. Star Wars; Return of the Jedi

Advantages: Again a very fantastical film...
Disadvantages: pity its not real!

...As the VI episode in the Star Wars senerio, this film provides the current finally. I say current as most people are aware of the current preludes and re-workings of the original films. Well if you didnt know that let me explain---> A very nice man called George Lucas wrote and directed a trilogy (which originally was a book and was intended to have 9 volumes!) which was called Star Wars! The first in the trilogy ws called A new hope ( I have a review on this if your interested), second - The Empire Strikes back and the third was called Return of the Jedi! Well due to technological advances, the film industry decided to rework The Empire strikes Back - so now there are two versions! But to make things even more confusing George Lucas et al, have decided to make prequals- these a films that are meant to lead up to the original trio...

SO BE IT, JEDI

Advantages: Brilliant graphics, excellent saber combat
Disadvantages: Multiplayer not brilliant on a 56K modem

...The Dark Forces series of games has been going for many years now, starting with the original back in the mid 90's, followed by Dark Forces 2 : Jedi Knight in 1999. Both of these games were actually coded as well as distributed by Lucasarts, which meant, although they were good, they never really took full advantage of the hardware available, as Lucasarts were not masters of the first-person shooter genre. Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy-Time To Learn Jedi Style

Advantages: Realistic Gameplay, Action Packed, Good Value.
Disadvantages: May Take Time To Get Use To If This Is Your First Star Wars Game.

...I recently read a few reviews on this game on Ciao and I have decided to do a review of my own, as I own this game. *Game Outline and Genre* This game is a slightly different one to the other Star Wars games in terms of the storyline you follow. The other games mostly have a set storyline, which will remain the same whatever you choose to do. Depending on how you look at it, this game can be Sci-Fi or Action. Nevertheless it is mostly thought of as action and the movies usually Sci-Fi. You choose what your character will look like through the game (discussed later in the review) and start off stranded and you have to find your way to the Jedi academy on Yavin 4. As the game progresses you choose light or dark forces and customise your lightsabre. Depending on what you choose this will change your character to the dark or light...

Ever wanted to become a Jedi Knight

Advantages: Good use of graphics engine, you get to be a Jedi, original music and weapons from films, very enjoyable, multiplayer option, use of film landmarks and characters, generally very cool!
Disadvantages: Possibly one I would not be able to play over and over in single player, good, but a little short to complete - took me three days (about 7 hours), some camera angles can get difficult in fights with lightsabre

...I have grown up with Star Wars and must admit that the thought of being a Jedi has always lit my dreams! Well, with this great game I was able to fulfil my dream of becomming a Jedi. The storyline is set nine years after the previous game where you (Kyle Katarn) avenged your father's death. After the last game Kyle swore never to use the Force again as he almost turned to the Dark Side of the Force at the end of the previous game. This game starts with Kyle and his partner Jan Ors being sent on a routine mission to a planet surface, and as you can guess it turns out not to be quite so routine! Through certain events Kyle has to pick up the Force once more and begin to use his lightsabre as a Jedi Knight to fight the evil Empire and stop them causing caos across the galaxy. Jedi Outcast - The Best of the Series

Advantages: Very Star Wars like and atmospheric
Disadvantages: Lightsaber combat is a bit random

...Jedi Outcast is set quite a few years after Jedi Knight and Mysteries of the Sith. At the end of Mysteries, Kyle Katarn, the Character you play: An ex-Imperial, who helped the Rebels get the Death Star Plans with the Bothan Spies, vowed never to use his sabre or the force again, fearing that he may be lead to the dark side. It is here that Outcast picks up from. The first few levels are basically a Star Wars First Person shooter, as you have no force powers or Lightsaber. Whilst these early levels are surprisingly heard and not very Jedi like, they help to build the story. Once they are over, the real fun can begin. Something forces you to retrain as a Jedi, and so you go to see Skywalker who has your saber. Jedi Outcast: Masterful Action and Jedi Like Style

Advantages: Star Wars theme, excellent graphics, story is great
Disadvantages: Limitations of platform mean excellent multiplayer but no online play

...I'm a total nut on Star Wars and as such I've come to expect a high standard of game from LucasArts. JKII was my first ever GC game, and as I'd played the N64, I was eager to see what the next Nintendo platform had to offer in terms of Star Wars games. Jedi Outcast is simply a dream to play. For those new to the gaming story, the game centres around Kyle Katarn, star of the acclaimed Dark Forces games and story. Katarn previously defeated a Dark Jedi named Jerec who had murdered Kyle's father. In the process Kyle came perilously close to the dark side of the Force. He quit the Jedi Order and became a mercenary. JKII continues his story, facing a new Dark Jedi named Desann. Horny Little Jedi

Advantages: Good old fashion Yarn
Disadvantages: Some of the actors are a bit treelike.

Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II - PC Game Review by Darren

Advantages: A good Star Wars game!!!
Disadvantages: I really can't fault this game.

...With the number of terrible games based on Star Wars being added to all the time, Jedi Knight seems like something of a mistake by Lucasarts ? it?s so great! *GRAPHICS The graphics have been surpassed by more recent games, but they still hold up pretty well. Of course they have the advantage of the Star Wars licence ? where else do you get to shoot Stormtoopers or watch Tie Fighters as they fly past. It will work (albeit a bit slowly) without a 3D card, but adding one of these will allow you to run it in a decent resolution and generally things like explosions and gunfire look a bit nicer. The cutscenes are actually quite good to watch telling a decent story, though the acting is very dodgy in places. *SOUND The sound is very good. All the gun sounds are what you would expect, and the various creatures you meet make...
