Advantages: Fun to watch - a guilty pleasure

...The Jeremy Kyle Show is a talk show for ITV, which deals with a variety of problems faced by ordinary people. It's pretty similar in style to American talk shows such as The Jerry Springer Show or Maury although it is not quite as outrageous and doesn't have the same element of humour as these shows. Most of the shows seem to feature a lie detector test, a DNA test or both. It never ceases to amaze me just how many teenage girls there are who don't know the father of their babies. There are some genuinely horrible people on the show who call their pregnant ex-girlfriends 'slags' when it is in fact them that have been sleeping around. I feel sorry for a lot of the young girls on this show as some of them have just made a few mistakes but have ended up having to live with someone horrible just to provide for their family. ...Okay so I started to think about wrting this review and thought I would give it one star but then I realised I actually am a bit of a sneaky fan of this show! Help! I'm sure the majority of you have watched this show and I'm sure that when you have you've been appalled by the subject matter and the state of some of the people who roll on to the stage yet I bet, like me, you've ended up watching to the end just to find out the results of the DNA test or the lie detector! Jeremy Kyle is very open and honest, he is extremely modern in his 'counselling' side of conflicts. He doesn't approach subjects carefully like good old Trisha used to, oh no, he is straight to the point and tells his guests exactly what he thinks. ...Giant Jim and The Hurricane written by Jeremy Strong is another fantastic children's book. Suited for children aged between 5 and 11 it is great for being read aloud but also just as good read silently by more confident readers. Giant Jim is as you can probably imagine, a Giant, and when he strolls into town he causes all sorts of trouble. But Giant Jim only wants to be friendly and find a place to live happily. His size however makes this near impossible. Every time he speaks people fall over. When he sits he causes an earthquake and when he cries a lake forms at his feet. The same format is used, 200 odd people in the audience, one host shouting the odds, people without teeth on the stage telling everyone their business then saying 'shut up u dont no nuffin.'
