Where Have All The Tandys Gone - Feb 2001 Version

Advantages: Handy for obscure bits of hi-fi, and assorted electronics.

...Where have all the Tandys gone? If you live around where I do, i.e. west London, you may think that's a damned fine question. The answer is a bit tortuous, but here goes. Tandy Shops became a subsidiary of Carphone Warehouse. The latter had a cold hard look at the suitability of many of their sites. Some of those that were considered surplus to requirements, were changed to Tecno Camera shops, another subsidiary of Carphone Warehouse. Soon afterwards, the Tecno shops were sold to Jessops. Voilà - Tandy to Jessops via Tecno. I must admit I mourn the passing of Tandy - I started having to drag over to Kingston, to my nearest surviving store. Still, it's my fault along with thousands of others who liked to know that they were there, but bought b*****-all from them. * UPDATE - Just got back from Kingston, even that's gone...

Tandy not handy

Disadvantages: Staff, products - where do I begin?!

...Recently, I ran out of ink for my inket printer and has to replace it quickly, deadlines to meet, you know! The fastest place to get one from was Tandy. I won't be back! The salesman had virtually no knowledge of the product and was thoroughly unhelpful. On entering the store, I realised I'd made a mistake but I had to go through with it to get the cartridge. The stock looked out of date and very limited, and I thought I should be careful about buying the wrong cartridge. On asking for help, the salesman showed no courtesy (probably as bored with being in there as I was!) and was of no assistance at all. The place looked as if it was due for an overhaul, it was dusty and terrible - I have been in much cleaner computer warehouse stores! Surprising Picture Quality - Panasonic DVD-S54

Advantages: Incredible picture quality when compared to my old non-upscaling player with a scart lead
Disadvantages: Sometimes disc drive can be really noisy when DVD's initially load.

Unable to afford a Blu-Ray player my sister and I bought the Panasonic DVD-S54 to match our parents brand new Panasonic TX-32LZD80 LCD television as their Christmas 2008 present. Admittedly it was a slightly selfish purchase as we both live at home and wanted to watch DVDs on the big new TV ourselves! We bought the player from the electrical retailer Comet for about £100 just before Christmas so there were no discounts applied. After hearing my mum bang on about how good a Clarins/Jessica pedicure was,I decided to book myself in for a 'luxury' pedicure. ..."In This Skin" is probably not Jessica Simpson's best album. I have been a fan for 5 years and even though her latest effort isn't as good as "Sweet Kisses", i would like to commend on her efforts in co-writing her songs, which is not too shabby actually but just not good enough to justify her brilliant emo vocals. If Jessica's voice was a romance movie, i would cry buckets. I think its only subjected to girls who are sentimental like me.
