Fiat Punto Active Sport 1.2i 8v

...Having recently handed my little Saxo over to my little sister for her lessons and run around. Its time to look for a new car, So I came accross a really nice "Fiat Punto Active Sport 1.2i 8v". Read below to find my opinion of this car so far....... Performance~ This car is awesome on petrol, Obviously depending on the way its driven its averagin about 48ish MPG. ALthough not as responsive as the saxo was and requires higher revs in lower gears to do this, Another slight downside is the ride height and suspension set up as the car feels very high, and also as if it is going to roll when taking corners at speed. Exterior~ The Active Sport variant of the Punto is in one word "sexy", Its got curves, and straight lines in all the right place. Fiat Punto 52 plate 1.2 Dynamic (5 door)

Advantages: A small, low cost, but zippy car which is also reliable and easy to fix
Disadvantages: A difficult car to drive

...I recently purchased a Fiat Punto 1.2 Dynamic (5 door) straight from the dealers (Rockingham Motors, Northants). The Fiat website was exceedingly useful and allowed me to email the dealers to arrange a test drive. In short the car was excellent: at a cost of £3300 for a 52 plate with only 42,000 miles on the clock and 6 months warranty. The car's benefits by far out weigh the negatives which I have seen and been told by friends (i.e. not reliable, cheap nasty car, not spacious). The drive itself is comfortable, but I have been informed by passengers that in the back it is not so good. It is excellent for short journey's for both comfort and fuel efficiency (even though I had some issues opening the petrol cap). Longer journey's it guzzles petrol but I expected that with such a small engine. For me, I needed a reliable car...

Seat Ibiza 1.2 SX

Advantages: Stylish car at a bargain price
Disadvantages: No light in the boot!

...just in the right place for me. In fact it has the look and feel of a much bigger car. Instrumentation is mostly within binnacles and is easy to read, even in strong sunshine. The only thing I don't like about the dash is a 'hole' in the form of a plastic box between the climate control and radio panels which is a result of not ordering the navigation system. I think they could have put a front on it and made it into a proper storage compartment. At the moment its not much use to anyone as objects just rattle and fall out of it. Seat could have given this a bit more thought. The 1.2 is powered by a 3 cylinder engine - but don't let that put you off. When ticking over it is super smooth and I defy anyone to tell it's a 3 cylinder. Acceleration results in a bit of growl, but its not an unpleasant sound. Underpowered? Hard to say as I...

Pure Bass. Buy it, play it, love it.

Advantages: Pure Bass, Great look, easy to install, great price.
Disadvantages: Might take some space, need a good amplifier

Renault Clio 1.2 Authentique 8v - cheap, reliable

Advantages: Cheap on fuel, cheap tax, insurance and smooth drive
Disadvantages: Although nippy, not much power

...not too bad, however a low gear is required and the car sounds like it is working too hard then. This car does cruise around nicely at 70mph without sounding like its screaming. Especially for a 1.2. This car has a bult in mobiliser and a pretend alarm to help prevent against theft. An alarm does not come with this particular model. I would recommend this car if you want a nice cheap and comfortable run about. Is economical on long journeys too....

Is the Corsa 1.2 sxi the star buy?

Advantages: Small, reliable, easy to drive and safe
Disadvantages: Fuel consumption slightly high

.... The alloy wheels do come with locking wheel nuts, usually purchased separately. This will save you around thirty pounds to keep your wheels safe. ECONOMY Economy is fair, although one thing that becomes apparent within the first week of ownership is the amount of fuel used. Even though it is only a 1.2 engine, it has sports injectors meaning that the engine is squirted with a little bit extra fuel to give a small kick in acceleration.To keep fuel consumption low, you have to drive the car well below the national speed limit. Certainly not one of the cars strong points. The Corsa 1.2 sxi is insurance group 3, so is fairly cheap to insure. Road tax is relatively cheap too due to low emissions, that's if road tax can be called cheap these days. PERFORMANCE 0-60mph is hit in around 11 seconds with a top speed of around 106mph. Fair figures...

2009 Vauxhall Corsa 1.2 Sxi - NEW SHAPE

Advantages: space, steering, brakes
Disadvantages: boot and not as cool to look at as new fiesta

...My girlfriend and me were given an 09 plate Corsa, when she wrote of her Ford KA (click my name for a review of KA). It was Vauxhall Corsa 1.2 SXi in Silver, it had optional extras like bigger alloys wheels and tinted windows, but it also had a built-in Dashboard screen which I don?t know if is an optional extra or a modification, anyway it was at Pioneer screen which had Sat-Nav, radio controls, phone sync, CD player and if it is an option I would most certainly recommend it. The Corsa was very pleasant to drive, the steering is obviously PAS but it was extremely light, the brakes were excellent, the gearbox was surprisingly pleasant, and the driving position was fantastic. For a Super-Mini it really does feel like a big car, the driving position is slightly elevated and the dashboard is really quite large for a car of this size...

Advantages: Good range of feature. Cheap running costs.
Disadvantages: Very common cars.

Only problem was Vauxhall made you buy on there finance and it cost over 10k over 4 years. If you wanted it for cash they added £500 finance discount back on and were now charging for metallic paint at £250. The price was not so much of a bargain now.... Our Star car ************ We got sick of looking and thought about just extending the warranty for another year or two and just stopped looking....Until I got a leaflet with my Lloyds TSB bank statement offering special offers from Car Select. On the front cover was a Shiney Black Sporty looking Corsa SXI. They offered Corsa for just over £6300 and therefore I expected that to be for the Basic 1.0 Club Model....Wrong.. The price was for the SXI model until 17th March...
