Surprising Picture Quality - Panasonic DVD-S54

Advantages: Incredible picture quality when compared to my old non-upscaling player with a scart lead
Disadvantages: Sometimes disc drive can be really noisy when DVD's initially load.

Admittedly it was a slightly selfish purchase as we both live at home and wanted to watch DVDs on the big new TV ourselves! We bought the player from the electrical retailer Comet for about £100 just before Christmas so there were no discounts applied. Advantages: Lovely Old Building. Fabulous View. Wonderful Food. Service.

Great news for UK Athletics

...It is only today that i have read of the reprive of Mark Richarson's two year suspension. This is great news for UK Athletics and for British 400m running. From what i have read it seems that Richardson has been let-off his drug offence in a compromise to become "...a sport's leading crusader" (as the Daily Mail put it), for anti-drug and doping in the sport. This does seem rather cheeky of the IAAF, as in many eyes he is not a cheat (explained why below). But at least he is now able to compete. If this was not the case we may have lost one of our many tallented sprinters in the sport. This of course would have been a travesty. Advantages: Heaven for DIY enthusiasts

...today mainly as a reminder of hard times. The unit is wobbling a little and may soon topple over. I must add that my last visit to an MFI store was in 1984. I have since avoided the store like the plague. I would guess that improvements have been made in the past 17 years. Perhaps the instructions on assembling the units are user-friendlier nowadays. Perhaps you can assemble the units in a shorter period. May be the moon is made out of blue cheese. Over the past 3 or 4 years there has been an upsurge in interest in DIY. This is mainly due to TV programmes such as Changing Rooms etc. My wife is an avid fan of these programmes. Sometimes she coerces me into watching these programmes. ...My recent quest for FREE DVD hire I visited and many DVD web sites that offered a free trial. Now call me tight (no that wasn?t an invite), but I like bargains and freebies and am not ashamed to say so. My quest took me to enough sites to hire DVDs for about four months so far (with plenty to come too). My latest free DVD site also happens to be the best I have tried for several reasons (see rest of op); the site in question is Blockbuster.co.uk. Other sites that I have had free rentals from and then cancelled have all been similar, two weeks free trial with two DVD?s per time ? which in effect gives you about four free DVD?s. With Blockbuster?s things are different slightly ? which add a great deal of benefit to us the customer. ...Mark Richarson has only recently started competing again with an astonishing win in the trials. However he is awaiting a decision by the IAAF about his alleged use of the banned substance nandrolone. It seems highly probable that he won't be allowed to compete at the Olympics after the IAAF overturned UK athletics decision to reinstate Gary Cadogan, Dougie Walker and Linford Christie. However the best Richardson can possibly hope for on the track is silver.
