"Imagine"... being married to John Lennon

Disadvantages: Very little that hasn't been written already.

...I did a search on Amazon to see how many titles came up for Beatles books. Result: 1182. For John Lennon: 445 results. So did we really need yet another book? Cynthia Lennon was born in 1939, the week the war began and lived in Hoylake ("over the water" from where John Lennon lived, in what was seen as a 'posh' area). She lost her father at 17 from cancer, which later would be one of the things that would bring her closer to John who had lost his mother at a similar age (It was also one of the few things he had in common with McCartney). Having won a scholarship to the Junior Art School in Liverpool at the age of 12, it now looked as if the death of her father would put a stop to her ambition to be an artist. Advantages: A fairly insightful look into John's life by someone who really knew him
Disadvantages: A little naff and bias in places

If you don't own Imagine by John Lennon,you really need to buy it

Advantages: Beautiful, though-provoking, catchy, meaningful
Disadvantages: More commercial than The Plastic Ono Band

...'Imagine' is one album that I will never be tired of hearing. The title track is quite possibly the best song ever written. The whole album is wonderful and no song lets the album down at all. 'Imagine' the album is brilliantly constructed, powerful and consistently catchy. John Lennon is rock music's biggest tragedy, but it's important to think about him in what he achieved in his life. Imagine is a very personal album, he really his spilling his soul in many of his song, especially Jealous Guy. Track-by-track 1) Imagine is such a beautifully simple song, with such inspiring lyrics and a dreamy tune it's easily one of the best ever written. 2) Crippled Inside flows so well from Imagine, starting with 15 seconds or so of gentle yet upbeat acoustic guitar. Advantages: A chance to see John Lennon again
Disadvantages: We can't have him back

John Lennon--My Musical Hero

Advantages: Revealing music by a rock 'n roll legend
Disadvantages: Commercial, made as an offering to the record company gods

...The John Lennon Collection-John Lennon is a "greatest hits" compilation that I have mixed feelings about. Granted, each and every one of the nineteen tracks on this album are fine tunes which in one way or another define the musician, vocalist and writer that John Lennon was--my personal view is that he was one of the greatest rock 'n roll musicians of our time. The qualms that I have about this collection arise from the fact that it contains his most commercial tracks--some of the true Lennon gems are not included on this album. I can't recommend this album as being truly representative of his music, simply because some of his more obscure (and best) songs aren't present, but as a collection of his most popular tunes, it fills the bill. John Lennon was enigmatic, both as a musician and an individual--he wore his heart on his sleeve...

All of Lennons best

Advantages: Good spectrum of Lennons solo career
Disadvantages: not really

...This album provides an excellent library of many of the great mans finest solo tracks. This album starts with imagine and every song upto the the final track Give Peace a Chance are complete classics. With every track sounding as sweet as ever. Serious fans probably already have most of the tracks on Lennon Legend and it could be said that this album is a bit of a rip off because every track is the same as the older Greatest Hits album, but in a different order. That said it is still class. You can probably guess all the tracks that are on this album but a few to note include; Jealous Guy, Woman and Working Class Hero. The inlay to the CD is quite nice with some fantastic B&W photo's of Mr. Lennon....

...I suppose there is no need to say who John Lennon is, but just in case - he was a member of The Beatles - arguably the greatest band ever. He was the most controversial of the four members and also the thinker, joker, fool and most troubled of them. He enjoyed solo success, despite taking a few years out, and as he began making a come back, he was tragically killed. When you think of John Lennon you think of ?Imagine?, perhaps the most well known song he recorded, a song about peace, but that was John, that?s what he wanted. Advantages: Has some previously unheard lennon songs

...This album can not be described as new lennon material. It was released in 1986, six years after lennons death in 1980. What this album can be described as previously unheard material ( well some of it is and others are just different recordings. I own this album on LP but I understand that It is available on CD from all record stockists and on various websites. The album was produced by phil spector, who produced most of lennons other material. It was mixed in new york city at record plant east studio where lennon has returned from on that night in december 1980. The album is titled "menlove avenue" as this was the childhood home of a young john lennon where he stayed with his aunt mimi. It was also the living room of this house that a young band called the beatles would practice. There are only two songs on this album...
