Atmospheric, magical story

May be a little dated for some

...The Box of Delights is a children's book originally published in 1935. It was written by John Masefield, who was once the Poet Laureate. The book is a sequel to The Midnight Folk, and provides an interesting contrast, with The Midnight Folk being set in at the height of summer while The Box of Delights is set in the depths of winter, during the run up to Christmas. I watched the film and learned that it was based on a book by the same name written by Nicholas Sparks and having loved some of his other works, most notably The Notebook, I decided to purchase the book too.
