A Western without John Wayne!

Advantages: good story, good acting
Disadvantages: None from me and hubby

The story to this film was very good if not a little predictable. I thought that Alan Ladd who played the lead role of Shane did a great job and it was so nice to see another lead role in a cowboy film instead of John Wayne. He managed to bring a lot to his role and show many sides to his character. He was hard and tough with the gun fighters but then he would be soft and friendly to young Joey which I thought gave the film a bit of depth. John Wayne Does Comedy!

Advantages: Good story, good acting, some good funny bots

...John Wayne and Comedy are not 2 words which I would have associated together but in this film he has actually tried to play a comedy role. I hate to admit it but he actually did a decent job!. Sam, John Wayne and George, Stewart Granger, are best friends who have struck it rich n the gold mines in Alaska. An Average John Wayne Film

Advantages: Ward Bond and Wayne act well together

...My husband is a John Wayne fan and I have been purchasing DVD's for him whenever I see then on offer but I have never allowed him to sit and watch them with me there are I don't like the whole cowboy and Indian theme. ...I only went a did it again with Hubby, I had had enough of him flicking through the television channels trying to find something decent to watch and told him just to shove a bloomin? film on and much to my dislike he put a John Wayne film on. The only bonus with this one is that it is not a western and John Wayne does not play a Cowboy! This film sees John Wayne paying tribute to ?Red? Adair who is a hero working in the oil fields putting out dangerous fires. John Wayne plays the character of Chance Buckman who is a very popular and well known fire fighter. A John Wayne classic.

Advantages: It is a classic. Perfect Sunday afternoon film.
Disadvantages: Hard to believe that this was made nearly 50 years agao.

...Waynes world is hilarious movie about to friends Wayne and garth are best buds and both live at home with there parents however they are starting to find a little fame by making illegal broadcasts of there own show from there moms basements called waynes world,things take off and wayne somehow manages to get a gorgeus girlfriend but a evil tv producer trys to buy out the show and change it into something different. I first saw this at the cinema(yes im that old lol) and i loved it then,it gave us some of the most memorable sayings like schwing and they followed bill and ted with the excellents! The cast is top notch with Tia Carrere and Rob Lowe and they are all hilarious,this is a top notch movie and it did have a sequal with most of the original cast but it never was as popular as this original movie,its subject is popular...

...Hubby always gets his revenge when it is his turn to pick the film and again I had to suffer the next John Wayne film in his collection. This film being Chisum which was made in 1970. At the very start of this film we see John Chisum sitting on his horse looking out over his vast expanse of land and his cattle which are grazing on it. Next we meet a gang member and his gang who are paid by a man called Brady to go after Chisum and kill him so that his land will become available.
