Chocolate Slab Cake

I was standing at the school the other day when I heard one mum report that she doesn't bother baking cakes for the bake sales she runs down local supermarket buys cheap fairy cakes and decorates them herself. Other mums then chipped in and added 'oh yes, I do the same and take them mother in laws in my tupperware and she never knows the difference', then to my astonisment other mums started adding that they do same at parties and take the glory. Plate Cake Makes 10 slices Butter - 100 g (3½ oz) Plain flour - 225 g (8 oz) Sugar - 100 g (3½ oz) Dried mixed fruit - 100 g (3½ oz) Baking powder - 1 tbsp Grated nutmeg - ½ tsp Eggs ? 2, beaten Milk - 150 ml (¼ pint) METHOD Rub the butter into the flour, add the sugar, fruit, baking powder and nutmeg and stir in.
