Davy Crockett ranch - Disney

Advantages: great pool, good cabins and great deals available
Disadvantages: 15 minute drive from main parks

...I went to Disneyland last week with my family and stayed there for 3 nights at the Davy Crockett Ranch. I have now visited Disneyland Paris 6 times and have also been to Disney world in Orlando as well last year. However I have stayed at the Disney hotel and a few of the others but I have to say that Davy Crockett ranch has to be one of the best ones there and certainly my favourite as it has so many great features and offers much more as well as being more free. The Accommodation: When you stay there you will be put in a small wooden cabin in a particular area which are all named such as Tomahawk or Bobcat. Each small 'camp' includes about 50 to 100 cabins all with separate parking spaces and outdoor bins. Inside you have a choice of either a one or two bedroom hut and all of them can sleep up to 6 people, with a double bed...

My Jazzy 'Birth Of Cool' by Miles Davies Remastered.

Advantages: Excellent Jazz Album.

Steve Davies rules the Eighties

Advantages: Pulled snooker from pub sport to top television
Disadvantages: Cannot compete with the influx of new talent any more

...Steve Davies - 6 times world champion and absolute snooker king of the 80s! He can't play anymore, but boy can he commentate! I used to enjoy watching Davies in the 80s when I was a young lad, my father being a keen watcher of snooker. There is no doubt that Davies was the king of modern snooker then, when the sport was just becoming accepted as a television sport. Lots of women apparently used to find him extremely attractive - with his tall thin demeanour, and the way he used to slide his cue back and forth between the dimple in his chin. Whatever turns them on! The attraction of Davies was clearly that he was the young kid on the block in the 80s, and he took on what was largely a group of older established men who played slowly and drank lots of beer. Surprising Picture Quality - Panasonic DVD-S54

Advantages: Incredible picture quality when compared to my old non-upscaling player with a scart lead
Disadvantages: Sometimes disc drive can be really noisy when DVD's initially load.

...At first I wasn't convinced by up-scaling DVD player technology but was persuaded after reading an article in "What Hi-Fi? Sound and Vision" magazine. Unable to afford a Blu-Ray player my sister and I bought the Panasonic DVD-S54 to match our parents brand new Panasonic TX-32LZD80 LCD television as their Christmas 2008 present. Admittedly it was a slightly selfish purchase as we both live at home and wanted to watch DVDs on the big new TV ourselves! We bought the player from the electrical retailer Comet for about £100 just before Christmas so there were no discounts applied. On Christmas day when opened we found a relatively small box tightly packed with the player in polystyrene packaging. ...My partner and I stayed at the Davis Bangkok last year whilst on our gap year, and it was the most memorable hotel that we visited. Slightly out of town, and reasonably dear (£45 pere night) located in the quieter Sukhumvit area, we felt that it was a good base to rest in before entering the hustle and bustle of Bangkok, via the skytrain. Our room was in the annex that is a one minute walk from the main hotel, this section being more recently built. The hotel prides iself on being a 'boutique' hotel with ultimate care taken over interior design, which showed throughout. The room was decorated in a contemporary style and though the view wasn't spectacular, the room made up for it. The bathroom was large and had marble floors, with a bath and seperate shower. Sony DAV-IS 10

Advantages: quality, crisp sound, great looks, can easily hide away
Disadvantages: power output is quite low, needs more mid range

...I bought the sony satelite system about 8 months ago. I did have a sony 5.1 system before but decided to change it as i had just bought a new plasma and wanted a surround system to compliment the looks of the plasma mainly (my tv's piano black as is the dav subwoofer). I knew the quality of the dav-is 10 was there but when i tested it i thought the power output was quite low but at the price it was the best option for the subtle, cosmetically smart looking surround that i was after. This system is not a powerful, in your face surround sound. It's a quality sounding, subtle looking crisp system - less powerful than my previous sony.. It looks brilliant with the tiny satelite speakers which really do hide in your room - especially with the skinny sony stands you can buy (70 pounds for the pair - well worth it). The subwoofer...

Advantages: All About Eve is an absolute classic of the era

...So here we find a strange set of three films in the 'classic box set' series by Fox. The name Fox is the only thing these films have to tie them together, other that the awe-inspiring work of Bette Davis- on of cinemas true greats. The first film is a true gem, the pinnacle of the career of Bette Davis which spanned some 60 years. Having left Warner Brothers in late 1949 some thought the career of Davis to be over, but then Claudette Colbert injured her spine and Davis was offered the role of Margo Channing in 'All About Eve'. It was that change of events that led to, what I believe, is one of the greatest female performances in a movie to date. THREE HEARTY CHEERS FOR JONATHAN EDWARDS

Advantages: Couldn't happen to a nicer fellow.

...Going for Gold, and achieving it! Hearty congratulations to Jonathan Edwards on his truly magnificent achievement of the Gold Medal in the Olympic Games in Sydney. Whilst many of the pundits forecast glory for Jonathan, I was somewhat dubious, as he often just misses out on the ultimate glory of winning a major prize. This time, however, he reaped his just desserts with a triple jump which beat the rest of the World's best. He always comes accross as a very quiet, unassuming, very religeous person, who truly represents the very best of good old-fashioned character. It is therefore refreshing to see that the Good Guys do still win. He sets a shining example to the youth of today, and I for one am overjoyed with his success. Long may it continue!...
