...I purchased my Carrera Banshee from Halfords on-line, the bike was priced at WAS £579.99 but being a bike coming to be replaced you can save £145.00. When I ordered mine there was a further 10% of online orders so I ended up with a brilliant bike worth £579.99 for £365.00. Although I was sent a 19 inch bike instead of the 20 inch I ordered apparently this is a mistake on the website. So if you order there is no actual difference being a suspension bike. Bike specs: - The bike frame is all mountain 6" travel bar linkage 19" aluminium frame With robust Suntour Epicon 140mm travel fork with lock out. Carrera or Kona?

Advantages: Great for downhill
Disadvantages: suspension no good for road.

Carrera Gryphon - good value for money road bike

Advantages: Value for money, light
Disadvantages: Toe clip pedals

...I purchased a Carrera gryphon through a Cycle to Work scheme and as such it ended up as very good value for money. From a ticket price of £399 there was already 20% off this model so with the Tax benefits of the C2W scheme this bike cost me c. £180. After some initial niggles with the bike primarily due to set up at the shop I have been very pleased with this bike - it makes my 12.5 mile ride to work seem relatively effortless. It has a good ratio of gears, 18 in total, split 2 front gears / 9 rear gears and the gear shifts are pretty good although occasionally the front gear doesn't change up as smoothly as I would like. The disc brakes work very well in all weathers adn the bike is extremely light which certainly helps with the commute. Advantages: Very good price. Good web site. Looked very good on paper.

Carrera Can't Cope

Advantages: Well meaning customer service dept, fast "field response" time, very modern components available, nice customization options available on-line
Disadvantages: Awful software setup (crash every 5 mins), rediculously long delivery time

Carrera Vulacn '07 Mountain Bike

Advantages: very light,extremely good value for money

...I bought my Carrera Vulcan after many weeks of extensive research on mountain bikes.My model was bought back in december 2007,so a late '07 model. Firstly it looks stunning.sparkling red frame followed by matte black wheels,set off with front and back disc brakes. Featuring fully adjustable nad also very imposng front suspension,SRAM trigger flick gears and luxurious leather racing seta which is actually very comfortable on long rides I have owned my Carrera now for a year and a half and the only reparations have been for natural wear and tear such as tyres and innertubes etc. I have been extremely impressed with my carrera and hope to still be impressed by it in a few years time! I highly recommend buying any Carrera mountain bike!...

San Jose

Advantages: Good night life, relaxed.

The city itslef is quite small for a capital city but it makes it easyto navigate (up to a point!!). San Jose is located right in the middle of the country in what is called the 'central valley' although it isn't actually a valley. The airport is in the north west of the city, actually outside San Jose. Actually most of the decent hotels are outside the center too. I cannot really recommend and as I have not really used one but I did stay in the Hampton Inn once and it was fine. Taxis Use them, they are cheap. Carrera SSC - The retailer from hell

...After my dysfunctional laptop crashed yet again I have decided that it is now time to buy a new PC. The hard disk was damaged and I had to send the laptop for a lengthy repair. I was therefore looking for a PC retailer, which offers good value for money and can deliver relatively quickly. Unbeatable value

Advantages: Low price, low weight, huge travel, tough frame, 27 gears, lockout
Disadvantages: Poorly set-up gears

..., the bike doesn't feel too heavy. Magnesium lowers on the Epicon forks and 7005 aluminium frame tubing are a welcome attempt to keep the weight down. Having said that, it does feel a bit on the sluggish side up a prolonged hill climb. The wheelset on this bike, as with other Carreras seems to be a bit on the heavy side, but then again it would be pointless putting fragile rims on a rock-hard frame. Verdict Overall, i'd say this is probably the best bike on the market for the £299 that the clearance stock is advertised on the Halford's website for, and is probably the best sub-£500 soft tail. This bike thrives on downhill trails, and is superbly comfortable as an XC machine, but when the trail goes up, you'll have to start sweatting to keep pace....
