If you have read my opinion on my trip to Ayurveda UK, you will doubtless know that I have turned over a new leaf, with regards to nutrition and health. (Well ok, apart from the few glasses of wine on Friday night, last, but I had an excuse for those). It is with this in mind that I bought the Breville AWT Juice Extractor. There are various types of Juicers on the market, and some of them can cost £400 or more. It all depends on the technology. Obviously, the more the pay, the better quality the finished output, i.e. the juice itself. However, the proprietors at the Health Farm I visited strongly recommended the Breville as a great Juicing machine, and one that does not cost the earth, while you determine if juicing is for you...

That'll Juice Do Nicely...

Advantages: Delicious fragrance, helps exfoliate the skin
Disadvantages: Difficult to use with a sponge (see opinion)

...Juice It is the name of a range of products within The Body Shop. This particular item I am reviewing is the Juice It Strawberry & Red Berries Exfoliating Body Scrub. According to the tube this body scrub is: "a blend of natural juices, powdered walnut shell & rosehip oil to polish and smooth your skin". The product comes in a squeezy tube, containing 150ml of the gel. The tube is tinted pink towards the top but becomes transparent towards the bottom where you can see the actual product inside. The tube stands upright on its black flip top lid. In contrast to the typical plain packaging of Body Shop products, the Juice It range of products have slightly different labels in that they show pictures of the fruits contained in them on the label, as opposed to the majority of Body Shop products which have a fairly plain label...

Add some washing up liquid (e.g. fairy) and add something for moisture (e.g. butter) … and hey presto, you have a wonderful mango’n’peach shower-gel… yummy! … apart from the fact that it doesn’t quite foam as much as I’d like it too and the weird smell that appears after a while… must be the butter. Firstly it is in a bottle and not a carton which immediately gives you the feeling of a superior product and you can also view the actual cloudy juice inside. The label is pleasant to look at and gives you the basic info (quantity, what it is actually made from) that you need. This is made simply from apples. Nothing more, nothing less. Tesco Value Juice - Juice Yourself!

Advantages: Cheap product, pretty good taste, smooth, recyclable carton.
Disadvantages: It's not Tropicana is it!

...I purchased this product instead of my normal Tropicana saving myself almost £1.50 on a 1 litre carton. This product is 56p a litre at present and is an absolute bargain! It is basic packaging, a standard juice carton with the Tesco value logo all over it and telling you that it is orange juice made from concentrate. Upon opening the carton there is a slight chemical smell but you can also smell oranges which is obviously a good start! The juice is smooth with absolutely no bits and looks a little watery when poured out in a glass. The juice smells just like oranges once out of the carton. When tasting the product I notice that it is indeed very smooth and has an almost sour kick to it, if you have a mouth ulcer this is definitely not the product for you! It does not taste completely like oranges, there is a slight after taste...

... Background: When I was a child Apple juice was always in my household and especially to me considered a luxury. We only had it when we were on holiday as a starter before our main breakfast. These days I enjoy a glass most nights with my dinner, my how times change. Value Apple Juice: A one-litre carton of pure Apple Juice can cost up to £1.93 in my local Tesco?s. However I have recently started to economise and have been experimenting with the Tesco Economy Apple Juice that currently costs just 56p. This type of Apple Juice is made solely by Tesco. Admittedly not as cheap as the Value Orange Juice they also make but are not currently sold in the same high volumes either. Packaging: I am very pleased to say that Tesco have improved their packaging of all their Value range in the last few months...
