...Although new developments such as Palm Island and The World may in the future boast bigger and better hotels, right now the Jumeirah Beach Hotel holds the title of the best resort hotel in Dubai and arguably the best in the world. We spent 10 days at the hotel in Easter 2005 and will definitely be planning a return trip! Arrival Before we even arrived at the hotel the exceptional service started, with a limousine waiting to pick us up from the airport. After the short drive to the hotel we checked in only to be told we would have a wait for our rooms to be available (we had been warned of this in advance by the hotel due to our early arrival time). Advantages: The service
Disadvantages: A short break to Dubai is enough, expensive

...In 2003, my husband was lucky enough to win an award at work. The prize was a three night all-expenses-paid break at the beginning of October to the Jumeirah Beach hotel in Dubai for himself and a friend/partner. The trip didn't start that well, with a seven-hour night flight from Heathrow with Emirates out of the always-crowded Terminal 2. Dubai is four hours ahead of the UK, so by the time we landed it was morning. We were directed out of the airport to a waiting white mini-bus, which was not exactly what I had expected from a five star hotel. If in Dubai, stay at The Hilton Jumeirah!

Advantages: Beautiful beach hotel in the most buzzing area of Dubai!
Disadvantages: There is still construction surrounding the hotel, but everywhere has to start somewhere.

...Before I go into the details of the hotel itself and the available facilities, I would like to say that I have been a resident in Dubai for 11 years now and have seen everything this hotel has been through from its own construction, the problems it faced with the jumeirah beach residence project right through to today! The Hilton, built in an area that used to be considered as 'out in the middle of nowhere' is now very much apart of what is soon likely to be the centre of Dubai, the Dubai Marina. This is the new, futuristic, modern end of the Emirate of Dubai and is where it all happens. The majority of the beach clubs and restaurants are in this area of town and it is suitabley located to allow for fairly speedy access to the rest of Dubai. The Dubai Sail

Advantages: close to everything and wonderful views and treated like royalty
Disadvantages: cant afford to live there

...My first sighting of Jumeira Beach Hotel was so magnificent that it will stay with you forever. The Hotel is just 20 minutes drive from Dubai Airport. It is classed as the second best hotel in the World with the hotel that was voted first standing right next to it. The first is Burj al arab. So to see these two Hotels together is something else. We arrived at the Jumeirah Beach Hotel at 9.30 am and checking in time is midday. They take your bags, details and passports in case you use "extras" such as drinks room service etc as you wont need your passports till you leave. This is better than leaving money, credit card details and so on at the desk. Outstanding quality and service

Advantages: Great location, very good quality and family friendly
Disadvantages: Price: can be a little heavy, but you get what you pay for

...Well what can i say, there is probably too much to write about JBH so i will try and keep it fairly short and sweet. Firstly, the flight to Dubai isn't too bad, around 7 hours which isn't that bad compared to other holidays i've been on and if there is good in-flight entertainment you will be well and truly satisfied. Next, you arrive at the wonderful airport in Dubai, and because we paid a little extra, we had a JBH employee meet and greet us at customs, he then collected our baggage and fast-tracked us through security! We then went outside into the blisteringly warm heat to be greeted by a JBH escort car (an AUDI A8) in which they provided us with cold bottles of water and face cloths. The Strand Palace Hotel

Advantages: Central location, clean
Disadvantages: Food, rooms

...We stayed at this hotel in London a little over a month ago now for two nights, we chose this hotel mainly because of the central location and because it was only a ten minuite walk from the show we had booked to go too. Check in was very quick - About ten minuites and the staff at the reception seemed very friendly. My first thoughts on the hotel was that it looked really clean and that it was nicely decorated and it looked modern. I was a little dissapointed with our room as it was very small and basic, our room had a double bed, tea and coffee making facilities, a tv with satellite and a small, basic en suite bathroom with a shower. The views from our room very very poor - A block of offices which made our room dark as they were so close. The hotel has two bars and two resturaunts, the bars were again nicely decorated...

...I recently went on a cultural girlie trip with a friend to Paris. I was left to do all the booking. I was looking for a reasonable hotel, near a metro stop, which included breakfast. I came across the Hotel International on various travel sites and it seemed fairly highly rated so I booked us in for three nights. LOCATION: The hotel is located 6 Rue Auguste Barbier in the 11th Arrondissement. The nearest Metro stop is Garcourt which was a two minute walk away and it was a five minute walk to Republique which gives good links to other lines. It's not really central enough to avoid the Metro and walk to the attractions but it was located so close to a stop that it seemed ideal. PRICE: Prices vary depending on size of room and season. There are singles, doubles and triples available. We paid Euro254 for the whole time...

  Comfortable & relaxing stay for 5 star Hilton!

Advantages: comfortable, beach location, better value than newer 5 star hotels, good customer service.
Disadvantages: overshadowed by construction of taller buildings behind the Hilton - pool area is partly shaded

...A lot can happen in a space of a few years but never more so than in Dubai; it's currently a massive construction site but in the nicest sort of way! The last time I visited Dubai in 2002, I stayed at Oasis Beach Hotel in Jumeirah. At that time the Oasis Beach hotel was the last hotel on the beach strip apart from the Hilton Hotel; the surrounding land was just barren desert. However, after my present visit in 2006 I was surprised to see there were about 200 buildings being constructed behind the Hilton Hotel! If you've read this far and are thinking it's a big no, no you'll be surprised at how much the construction doesn't really bother you. As soon as you catch a glimpse of the white sandy beaches against the clear blue skies and hear the sound of the sea as the waves come in?you soon forget the construction, believe me you do...

...****Sachas hotel- Manchester**** I booked this hotel last minute as i had a job interview in Manchester and needed somewhere quite cheap ,that was also near the centre. **Location/Getting there** This hotel is located in Tibb street which is a 2 minute walk from Piccadily Gardens or 10 minutes away from Chorlton street bus station.The Train station is a little bit further away say maybe a twenty minute walk but i don't think that this is that bad .You can also get a tram from Piccadily gardens and this goes to quite a few places.You could also get a taxi to the hotel but i am not sure what parking is like if you were to take your own car. **Reception/staff** Since i had never been to Manchester before i phoned and asked the staff for directions -they were very nice and helped me out.When i got there i think i got the same...

...When we decided to make a return trip to Benalmedina we opted to go to the four star Hotel Las Arenas as it was recommended by friends. It is slightly further out just opposite the Castle Bill Bill and when you cross the road it?s a flat walk all the way to the marina which is away from the large hills on which many of the other hotels are located. Reception On arrival check in was swift and at this time we opted to pay for a safety deposit box we were then handed the safe key and card key to room 524 and pointed in the direction of the lifts. On looking round reception it was laid out with tables and chairs and also had a grand piano, a small bar ,toilets and computers with internet access.
