Surprising Picture Quality - Panasonic DVD-S54

Advantages: Incredible picture quality when compared to my old non-upscaling player with a scart lead
Disadvantages: Sometimes disc drive can be really noisy when DVD's initially load.

Unable to afford a Blu-Ray player my sister and I bought the Panasonic DVD-S54 to match our parents brand new Panasonic TX-32LZD80 LCD television as their Christmas 2008 present. We bought the player from the electrical retailer Comet for about £100 just before Christmas so there were no discounts applied. Phillip Kaufman's Erotic Henry And June

Advantages: first half good
Disadvantages: second half confusing and boring

...After reading and enjoying Anais Nin's disguised-as-fiction Cities of the Interior, which is five books in her erotic diary spanning the mid 1930s to the early 1970s (she died in January of 1977), I decided to check out her earlier, undisguised work from the life-changing year of 1931. Not having read those books yet, I also rented Philip Kaufman's cinematic rendering of Henry and June based on Nin's sexual crisis in her account of meeting Henry and June Miller in bohemian Paris during the early thirties. Perhaps I should've waited until I read her unexpurgated diary. The suburban pleasures of Purley

Advantages: Reasonable retro comedy
Disadvantages: I prefer George and Mildred. Yes, really.

...supposedly aiming for, although in hindsight, it is sometimes a little bit hard to take - worrying about the carpet when others are struggling to survive does seem like a problem taken too far. However, I think it is important to try to remember that it isn't supposed to be insulting - it is just a reflection of society at the time. Terry is played by Terry Scott; June by June Whitfield. I have to admit that I am not all that familiar with Terry Scott as an actor - he appeared in countless Carry On films but not in roles that particularly stood out for me. Great Introdcution to Poetry

Advantages: Nice poems, bright and colourful
Disadvantages: Not as engaging as other childrens books

...the paperback version and it was a gift in Jacob?s Book bag from school so we did not have to pay for this. I have looked on Amazon and this title is not currently available but there is a very similar book for just under £5. It was published by Puffin books and edited by June Crebbin. Overall I do recommend this book as it is a fun read, can be picked up and put down at different times very easily and it is a good way of introducing children to the rhyming pattern....

Walking Through The Machair Flowers!

...and a seascape which was turquoise and white, really made me fall in love with the beauty and the serenity. They really were treasured "bucket and spade days". I had in my hand two walking books which I read from cover to cover, and I vowed that as soon as I was fit I would follow the walks contained within these inspirational pages. In the meantime I gemmed up on the terrain and the routes I would need to follow. The book which I loved the most was called "The Western Isles" by a lady called June Parker. I think its front cover, with a lovely thatched black house, and views of the azure blue coastline, really tells you that this book is going to be a wonderland of experiences literally waiting to escape from inside the pages. There are copies of this book to be found in many libraries, and you can order it if you can't locate it...

Now call me tight (no that wasn?t an invite), but I like bargains and freebies and am not ashamed to say so. My quest took me to enough sites to hire DVDs for about four months so far (with plenty to come too). My latest free DVD site also happens to be the best I have tried for several reasons (see rest of op); the site in question is Blockbuster.co.uk. Other sites that I have had free rentals from and then cancelled have all been similar, two weeks free trial with two DVD?s per time ? which in effect gives you about four free DVD?s. With Blockbuster?s things are different slightly ? which add a great deal of benefit to us the customer.
