Hours of squishy sound goodness.
Advantages: Does the job brilliantly
Disadvantages: Will replacement earbuds be availible??
...Well, I've had quite a few brands of headphones over the years, I think this is my first set of JVC ones though. Oh the wasted years...
OK, well there's no picture of these, so use your imagination. (or do a Google search.) These headphones are noise cancelling, which pretty much means you hear less of the outside world when you have them on, and the world hears less of your music, so everyone's happy! They have squishy bits, the same squishy stuff earplugs are made out of, like very fine sponge, where the earbuds would be, and the idea is, you squidge these down and stick them in your ears, (they don't go very far down, so don't worry) and they expand, thus creating a seal of sorts, and cancelling out noise.
Now the beauty of this noise cancelling business is you don't have to turn whatever it is you're listening to up very loud...

JVC, Good for me!!!
Advantages: can listen to your favourite tunes without waking the town
Disadvantages: Long jack lead gets tangled easily
...Imagine the scene. Its late at night, the lights are down, the kids are asleep and I want to play Star Wars Battlefront II but don't want to wake everyone up. So I plug in my headphones which happen to be JVC HA-D424 into the headphone socket on the television. I place the headphones around my ears and turn on the game. BOOM, I'm instantly taken to another dimension. The lasers are no longer on the television, there in the room. Everything thats going on around me is forgotten and I am a clonetrooper trying to reach the next command post. I feel something hit me on the shoulder. I Jump, have I just been shot. No its my girlfriend standing there. I take of the headphones and she says fancy a cuppa coffee. slowly my heart rate returns to normal. Yes please I say.
Well hopefully this will help you realise that these headphones are really...

jvc headphones (blue)
Advantages: clear sound, retractable cord
Disadvantages: a bit too heavy
...them.
HOW THEY FEEL
The mass of the headphones is 33g without the cord that is 1.17oz. When you wear them you are always aware of the headphones. This is probably the biggest DOWNSIDE of this design.
The actual ear hook of the headphones is BRILLIANT though. The ear pad is rubbery and very soft and doesn't cause any inconvenience to your ears. When you put the headphones you can adjust how tight you want them which is really good
HOW DO THEY CONNECT TO YOUR PORTABLE AUDIO
The plug is gold plated, and has a little flexible bit connecting it to the cord (to prevent cord from folding and breaking), which is a big plus, because my last pair broke in that exact spot.
The length of the cord is 0 to 1 m, which is a very reasonable length; longer cord will get tangled horribly.
Even at this length I have to spend a couple minute...

Music for Sport?
Advantages: adequate sound
Disadvantages: dont fit my ears too well
...One of the annoying things about having to run is the sheer boredom of it, in my case it tends to hit around the 2 mile mark and results in no motivation or interest in carrying on. So the solution is to run with some kind of music player, I have an oddly large collection of mp3 players for someone who has never really seen the point of them but all those players came with traditional style ear phones, which sit in the outer area of the ear, but these do not stay put very well even when simply walking so biting the bullet I decided to buy a set of either earbuds or over ear style earphones in the hope that they would sit more comfortably.
Not wanting to spend alot of money on earphones (well I use cheap mp3's so not much likeilhood of sound quality being an issue) I wandered in to my local supermarket and picked up a set of these JVC...

JVC - Pure Sound To Me
Advantages: Good Quality and reproduction.
Disadvantages: None
...If you've read some of my reviews you should realize by now I love classical music. There's nothing I like better than to hear my music loud and strong. Unfortunately I live in a flat surrounded by elderly ladies who have all taken to their beds by 8pm. The answer- I put on my headphones and stay up till about 2am.
I didn't want to spend a fortune when I looked around for my choice. At the same time I didn't want to buy something that would result in me thinking I was inside a baked bean tin. I opted for some reasonably priced headphones with a good brand name. There were quite a few on offer and I was quite surprised. The great pity is that they are always in a sealed pack which means you have no idea how comfortable they are and that is one of the key features.
I have the large corded JVC HA-G101 headphones, I call...

There's life in the old iPod yet!
Advantages: They're pink and cheap - what more could you want?
Disadvantages: Get tangled easily, won't last forever
...pottered into town, and whilst in Woolie's non-Winter Wonderland, hubby noticed the JVC HA-F130-PE - GUMY In-Ear Headphone with Colour Cord on sale for £6.99, so saving £1.01 I parted with my hard-earned (lol) cash!
Using the Earphones
It was my first day back at work after holiday and I was eager to listen to my new Coldplay album. Having charged my IPod for ages (it has got quite temperamental with age) I sat on the train and plugged the earphones (or in-ear headphones as JVC seem to call them - personally I think earphones explains it pretty succinctly) in, they don't quite fit perfectly as iPod earphones do, but it doesn't seem to be a problem.
Oh my Mother Moose, I was blown away by how loud it all was! Having been used to my iPod on full volume I realised that this was actually going to be far too painful with my new...

Mattygroves and her improbably loose earphones
Advantages: Good brand, decent sound (but see below), inexpensive
Disadvantages: They don't fit my ears, the memory foam forgets
...It is, apparently, a bad idea to wrap your headphone cord around your iPod or mp3 player. I do it anyway, for lack of any better ideas to keep the cord from becoming a tangled mess in my pocket. As a result, I go through earphones like nobody's business (apparently, wrapping the cord damages it).
I recently purchased from Tesco a pair of black JVC in ear earphones, as my last pair of Panasonics were by now only broadcasting from one ear (mostly). I paid £12.99 for these. Irritatingly, you can't try out in ear earphones before you buy. This is a shame.
We all hope our earphones will deliver decent sound - how decent we expect is no doubt related to how much we've paid, and how sensitive we are to stereo fidelity. I have an iPod 30gb Video. I listen to folk, rock and classical by and large, and I'm not a stereo sound...
