My Supermarket Mobile

Advantages: Cheap, easy to get started, good coverage, clubcard points

...So here we go again another review brought about by the fact I had to move to keep my job (long story and will be covered when I write the review of my employers when and if Ciao list them). Sadly for Orange their network doesn't cover Lydd camp - just the area outside it but no signal penerates the camp fence oddly enough. So while on my hunt for a working network I checked the O2 website and found they claim to have full coverage across the camp, not long after this I remembered the handset and SIM I was given by the nightclub I used to work for but was on Tesco mobile. Dont worry I've not lost it, Tesco mobile and O2 are pretty much the same thing because Tesco buy the 'spare' satellite time from O2 to operate their network. Which means that while the Tesco sell the SIM's and the handsets its O2 that owns and operates...

...With the surge in popularity of DVD recorders, it is very hard to notice the humble DVD player nowadays and it comes quite low on the list of 'must-haves'. However, if you are in the market for a good DVD player that is packed with features, the JVC XV-N55SL would be worthy of consideration. We have had ours a couple of years now, but last year it got relegated to the dining room when we purchased our DVD recorder. It is hooked up to a portable TV we have in there but it does not really do justice to the JVC in all fairness. But that's the way things go. If we had room in our lounge under our TV on top of the DVD recorder it would still be there, because it is by far the better player of DVDs. The Sound of Silence......JVC Style.........

Advantages: Stunning Sound and User Friendly
Disadvantages: Limited Use and JVC Helplines are useless.......

...We had this JVC KDSH 77 player installed in our car ( ALFA Romeo147) by Halfords about 18 mths ago. I must say the sound was absolutely brilliant through the cars own fitted speakers ( Sony x 8 ) and for a while we were extremely happy with all the features on this machine. It played all our CD/Rws, had a very simple to use tuner,with plenty of power,looked great,was user friendly and fitted in the dashboard perfectly. No problem there I hear you say . However....Unfortunately. True to form as has been proved with many JVC car audio / music systems before. The 12 month guarantee was up and within a couple of weeks almost to the day. Guess what ?? It packed in. ( Error Message on Screen ) Went back to Halfords...Not our problem, Sir... Our 12 month warranty is just up, any problems in the last twelve months...

When did Tesco build a mobile network? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The answer, of course, is that they didn't. The Tesco Mobile network is a 'virtual' network, similar to Virgin Mobile, in this case being carried on the O2 network. It is a joint venture between Tesco and O2. Why do these virtual networks exist? On the (physical) network operator's side they use up spare capacity while someone else picks up the marketing bill. On the (virtual) network operator's side they gain the ability to offer mobile telephony services without the need to spend (many) millions and years building a network. I first started with the Philips Savvy and then moved on to a Nokia 3310 cause I dropped water on the damn thing, but other than that I have had no problem with the operator itself. You buy one new gadget and just as you learn how to use it another one appears and yours becomes out of date. The same is to be said for mobile phones. Not long ago they were absolutely huge! When I look back and think about what I must have looked like carrying one of those things around with me I cringe with embarrassment. I was never a yuppy or anything but as a lone female walking around collecting money in some rather dodgy areas it was a necessary safety precaution (note I said collecting and not earning! lol) Nowadays it seems the smaller the better and it makes you wonder how they manage to increase technology and decrease the size of the handset?
