...Design The Canon Powershot SX110 IS is a pretty big camera compared to some on the market. It is around 11cm by 7cm and feels quite large in your hands, although this does make it feel sturdy and strongly built. Despite the size, it fits into your hands rather smoothly and is fairly comfortable to hold. It weighs in at around 300g which is quite heavy but once again makes it feel strong. It is too large to keep it comfortably in your pocket and so the wrist strap comes in handy. (A neck strap would be a nice addition though). I was told you can also purchase a pouch for it to clip on to your belt. You can get to the buttons, pop up flash light and battery space easily and they are all well made and strong. Samsung SGH M110 : solid but slow.

Good first digital SLR on a budget

Advantages: Price, solid construction, good bundeled lens, detailed pictures

...The Pentax K110D is a good introduction to the world of digital SLRs. If you already own a 35mm Pentax camera you can use your old lenses and makes it an even better choice. I purchased a kit with a very versatile Tamron 28-200mm lens for around $550 / £225 a year ago. In the time I have owned it the camera has produced very good results. Most of the time I just throw it in my bag without any extra case and the body hasn't even gathered scratches. The construction feels very solid, and I can imagine it would take a drop without any problems. I have had a problem with the auto-focus/ manual focus switch and the camera is being fixed under the 1 year warranty.
