Advantages: Great economy, luxury trim, cute car Disadvantages: A bit slow
...I wanted Mrs mfhome to get an MGF or something more "fun" but I wasn't too worried when she decided on a Ford Ka, I'd always liked the styling and her choice of the luxury model meant that I would have all the extras to play with too.
The Ka has been a popular little motor since 1996, ours is the Luxury model which we bought new on 51 plates in 2001. The car had great looks with its colour coded bumpers and mirrors, alloy wheels and metallic paint - I think these features are extra cost options on the other models. I don't suppose that they're necessary on this car as it looks good in standard trim. However, given a free choice between a car that is colour coded and one that is not I prefer the colour coded.
The car's motor mechanics are based on some of Fords older models; frankly I have found the performance disappointing. Mrs...

Review of Ford Ka 1.3i
...The Ford KA, officially an icon for Ford. The Ka was introduced in 1996 and my girlfriend bought the 1998 KA 1 model as her first car. It was obviously a 3-door model (the only option) but it was in a weird colour, it looked like brown, grey and silver mixed into one, but it was listed in the logbook as grey.
The KA was originally designed to only have black plastic bumpers so in the event of a minor crash they could easily and cheaply be replaced. This model has the black bumpers, but having done 72000miles upon purchase they had done a feint grey colour and although the black bumper/trim polish is easy and cheap to buy from Halfords or anywhere, I would recommend (if you can afford it) to buy a colour coded one as they just look better and don?t have to be repainted even if the car doesn?t need it- as the black ones do.
I...

Review of Ford Ka 1.3i
Advantages: Fun to drive. VERY distinctive looks. Good handling. A very practical and easy to drive car. Disadvantages: Not a lot of extras. A "girly" image. restricted choice of engines and specifications.
...~ ~ The hire car I booked for our recent family trip to Rome was the new model Fiat Punto. But I wasn’t too perturbed when the car hire company offered me a Ford Ka instead. I’d been intending to have a drive in a wee Ka for ages, and was supposed to have one booked on a short trip to Scotland last year, but on that occasion the hire company pawned me off with a Peugeot 106 instead. (That DID perturb me, ‘cos it was/is a crap motor car!)
~ ~ The Ka has been a best seller for Ford ever since it first hit the streets back in 1996, so it has to have something going for it, apart from its funky looks.
It’s a car that has never been a rave hit with the motoring press and pundits, but despite the somewhat poor reviews from the self-appointed experts, the motoring public voted with their wallets. (and purses) Even...

Review of Ford Ka 1.3i
Advantages: fun to drive, cheap insurance, low cost driving Disadvantages: not much legroom in the back
...I puchased my Ford KA2 three years ago, soon after i passed my driving test. I had set my heart on a KA, i had read numerous reviews in motoring magazines and watched fixated every time one came on the t.v. I had £5000 burning a hole in my back pocket, so on a bright May morning i set out car hunting. However i didn't have to travel far as there is a Ford dealer in my town so this was my first port of call.
As i pulled onto the forecourt my eye was immediately drawn to the little copper KA that sat in the corner. I didn't realise at first that this KA was in fact a KA2, as there was no number two badge on the back end. It wasn't until the salesman opened the car up that i discovered the extras.
This KA had metallic copper paint, central locking, air bag, stereo, electric windows, mirror on drivers side sun screen!, easy to...

Review of Ford Ka 1.3i
Advantages: extremely easy to park Disadvantages: seen as a 'girly' which can put a lot of people off
...I don't get what everyone has against Ford Kas. I really don't.
Perhaps I'm biased. The first car I ever owned was a Ka, and I guess everyone feels affection fro their first runaround. Ironically now I'm stuck with a Corsa, which I hate, and think longingly of the days I had my baby to toodle about in.
Anyway, to get some decent facts in. My Ka was a bog-standard red model, 1997 reg, 3 owners from new. And it ran like a dream! Not once in the year I had it did I encounter anything more frustrating than a tracking problem (and I'm telling you, that kerb wasn't there before I moved...)!
The Ka does have a 'girly' image and i think this is mainly due to the simplicity of its design. There aren't ten billion different sizes of engine to choose from - nor are they particularly easy to modify and look cool (or so I'm told). Therefore...

Review of Ford Ka 1.3i
Advantages: looks, small, easy to use Disadvantages: space
...I was bought this car when i passed my test. I have had my car for about two months and since then i have found the car to have good points about it and also some bas points.
Space: The ford KA is a small car but in the front i have found that it is enough space with myself in it but not with me and my boyfriend in it as his arm and legs is always in the way of me changing gears and the glovebox is well too small.
The back of the car is small but not as small as i heard it would be, i can fit my sons pram in the back also a baby car seat and still have some room.
The boot is okay is suppose i have had to buy a small pram to fit in the boot.
The car is small and easy to use as it is a doddle to park up, it is ok on the petrol and also the insurance is cheap for first time drivers.
The ford ka brought my insurance down...

Review of Ford Ka 1.3i
...I've been reading around the site and think it's time to attempt a second review, I can now see that my first one was a bit short and lacked some detail so here goes.
I bought my blue Ford Ka back in February 2005 and wouldn't swap it for the world now. At first I was a little worried as I'd been used to a bigger car (a Focus) and didn't know how I'd manage to get all my shopping in or how fast it would go!!! Yet I've come to realise that it's the perfect car for me as it's main advantages are that it's small so easy to park, cheap and to insure and cheap to run, what more could I ask for!!
There are 6 different variations of the Ford Ka available but they all boast power steering, anti lock brakes, a driver's airbag, immobiliser and opening rear windows.
Ka Design which is the basic and cheapest model and starts from £7,095, it...

Review of Ford Ka 3 1.3i
Advantages: fits in my garage! Disadvantages: small engine
...I never really understood why they named this car a Ka. Sooo much confusion... but, like any celebrity offspring it needed something kooky. And so the Ka was born.
We bought ours in 1998, fairly soon after they came onto the market, and it's a car I've grown up in and learned to drive in.
So what it it? Well it's a three door hatchback, ladybird in shape, which seats four. Very cute, apparently designed by a woman.
And the Ka really is suited to a woman, small, nippy, ideal for going down the shops and parking up between road hog 4x4s (HATE HATE HATE!!! GREEDY CARS CHOKING UP THE ROADS!) and into my extremely tiny garage, which measures about twelve centimetres by 300.
What else does it boast?
Front and back wipers, very nice, but with a tendency to leave a dirty spot in the corner. No sunroof, which is annoying on hot...

Review of Ford Ka 2 1.3i
Advantages: Cheap and reliable Disadvantages: not good for long journeys
...written on 14.05.01
by andycharger
"Ford are proud to announce the release of their new car for the millenium, the Ford Ka."
Or so they would liked you to believe when it hit the streets 4 years ago.
But it is really not their design.
It was engineered, designed and presented by an external design house.
The engineering geniuses that designed the Ford Ka are part of the company that I work for, MSX International.
I bet you did not know that did you?
MSX have had a big input into Car design and have a very close relationship with Ford. This led to the birth of an entirely externally designed and engineered car for the first time for Ford.
In fact, if you cast your mind back to its release, you will have probably had the same thoughts as a lot of people.
"That looks nothing like the other Ford cars."
Well...

Review of Ford Ka 3 1.3i
Advantages: A totally lush cheap little car Disadvantages: Bit of a horror to park
...I bought this two and a half weeks ago. I have never been
a fan of petrol cars, as I think diesels are far
easier to drive. But I took a second hand one our
from our local dealer and fell in love with it. On
return to the dealer, Fords 'Summer of Love Promotion'
was nearing a close and this meant I could get a brand
new unregistered on for very little more. Also was
three years free servicing. It also meant getting a
better spec. The 'Design' is a little bit more girlie
than the standard Ka, by having a diamonte stud in the
gear knob. It has a blue gear knob, a blue cuff
around the gear stick and a gorgeous blue stearing
wheel. The 'Design' also comes with electric windows,
central locking and a CD player. Whilst the Ka
basicaly comes with manual windows, normal locking
and a tape deck. Please! Do we still use...
