Kaiser Chiefs - Employment

Advantages: Amazing Brit Pop album from a fine rising British band
Disadvantages: Some tracks are better than others, however all the tracks have their own individual qualities.

...The Kaiser Chiefs are a fast growing band from Leeds, and I am sure that by now you have all heard of this amazing band. This album was released last Monday and the chances are that by the end of the day, it is going to be the official album chart Number 1, or failing that is going to be at least Number 2. This album takes heavy influence from the Britpop scene, as well as borrowing heavily from the Madness, and having incredible pop sensibilities. They have truly produced an album of anthems in 'Employment' and not single one of the tracks on display here sounds out of place, or isn't single release worthy. Kaiser Chiefs Are Average Nowadays

Advantages: A couple of half decent offerings.
Disadvantages: The album as a whole is distinctly average.

...When Kaiser Chiefs released their début album 'Employment', I found their music greatly enjoyable. When their second album 'Yours Truly, Angry Mob' was released on the other hand, I was actually dreading listening to it having heard and hated first single 'Ruby'. I wanted to like the album, I truly did, but I just didn't see it happening as you usually find it to be the case that the first single released from an album is more or less the strongest track. When 'Yours Truly, Angry Mob' was released I made sure I listened to it, forced myself to listen to it even; it came as no surprise to me however that I was not liking what I was hearing. Advantages: New British band, catchy songs
Disadvantages: A bit same-y, can they live upto the hype?

Having just returned from the biggest ?new music? event in the USA (South-by-Southwest in Austin Texas) and taken it by storm, it seems the Kaiser Chiefs are in high demand at the moment. Yours truly, The Kaiser Cheifs

Advantages: Good music, Good sound, Cheap (£6.99 morrrisons)
Disadvantages: Same old indie

...So the Kaiser Chiefs second album after the guys from these indie rockers from Leeds. This follows the outstanding Employment album which left high expectations on the boys shoulder but can they match it? Well lets see, 13 songs on the album and the album coming in at just under 45 mins, meaning that tbh, it seems a bit short to begin with, but we take quality over quantity right? So whats the quality like? Well the opening track, Ruby, has just been released as a single (or is about to be released?) a song that takes you back to the previous album. Ricky's singing sounds the same as it always has done, and the chorus is catchy as hell. A pretty damn good start to the album. Which allows old fans to join in where the last album ended, and allows new fans an easily accessible song. 9/10. Hmmm the second song Angry Mob opens like...

Theres abit of "Kaiser" in all of us!

Advantages: Putting more (Yes even MORE) fun into music!
Disadvantages: Too short of a CD .. only 12 tracks.

...The Kaiser Chiefs have been said to be the next Zutons, Killers, or Franz Ferdinand? I personally, if anything, think that their mix between all three .. but it definitly comes in the category of - "complete genius" .. .. After hearing the track that changed pop/punk/rock as we know it in todays world ("Oh my god" 2005), I knew striaght away that this band wouldnt be making a 'one hit wonder'. The fabulous video that came with that track from this album, showed any music lover that they seem dedicated to their music .. .. Oh My God! Kaisers live up to hype

Advantages: every single track could be a single
Disadvantages: can occasionally be a bit too self consciously 'quirky'

...If you have heard the Kaiser's singles 'I predict a Riot' and 'Oh My God', then you'll know what to expect here. The good news is that the album matches the singles and goes even better- 'Oh My God' for one isn't even the best track here by far, and that's not a criticism of the song, it just demonsrates how good the album is. Ultimately it's a collection of good old-fashioned pop songs that are incredibly catchy. It doesn't break any new ground, but who cares? Once these songs have got inside your head, they won't leave for a long time. This is the best, quintessentially 'English' pop album since Pulp's 'Different Class' and Blur's 'Parklife'. It hasn't got the emotional depth of those albums, but with it's talk of getting chased out of pubs by townies and the ritual of the big Saturday night out, it captures the mood of today...

Let it never be said, that Kaiser is dead!

Advantages: fantastic comeback album - consistent throughout
Disadvantages: none!!

..."Employment" by the Kaiser Chiefs is one of my favourite albums of the past decade, and as you can imagine - I waited... and waited... and pondered... and waited for their follow up - 2 years later... and here we are!!! "Yours Truly... Angry Mob" has a lot to live up if its to follow in the giant footsteps of its predecessor, and I honestly think its a close call in terms of which one I like more. This album seems to be a more developed work - the band seem to have took note of their successes and focused on the finer points of their sound. Here is my track by track break down. TRACK 1 - "RUBY" Everytime I hear the opening riff of this I smile, its such a feel good track - and even thought its less electro than previous songs, it's a soft rock masterpiece. Kaiser Chiefs -The 'modern way' to look at music

Advantages: Highly Original! Great British Music
Disadvantages: Slightly expensive.. but not if you buy online!

...Firstly I'll apologise for the title, if you check the album out, you'll see "Modern Way" is a name of one of their tracks, and im afraid someone else already took the "oh my god" joke... *OMG, I have it all *

Advantages: Great tunes and nice lyrics

...I bought this with the voucher I earnt from dooyoo and thought it was about time I reviewed this. Honestly, I kinda jumped on the bandwagon with this CD. It seemed like everyone was talking about so I decided to buy to see what all the fuss was about and I'm so glad I did. History of the Kaiser Chiefs They are a band from Leeds who formed in the early months of 2003 but this wasn't the start of their music love. Before they formed the Kaiser Chiefs, the members used to be in a garage rock band called Parva but when their label dropped them, they decided to become a more post pop/punk/rock band with an indie slant. They became popular in early 2005. They released their debut album, Employment on the 7th of March 2005. So they are quite a new band but given a chance I think they could be big. I mean this is only their debut album...

NOT THE NEW FRANZ

Advantages: Very catchy, great lyrics, quite a promising bunch
Disadvantages: Loses its way towards the end

...Thank Franz Ferdinand. For the Franz have brought about a veritable explosion in British guitar music, both at home and in terms of exporting music to the United States. While it may be easier to accredit the Libertines with kick-starting the movement, such praise but would inaccurate, as it is Franz who took British rock music global once again, paving the way for Razorlight, Bloc Party and this little group from Leeds, the Kaiser Chiefs.
