...Wow! I've just come back from a week in Kos staying in Kardamena and I can honestly say I had the best week of my life! Kardamena is the most lifely area of Kos and I would highly reccomend it to anyone who wants a holiday with fantastic nightlife. So much so me and my friend plan on returning to Kos next summer to work for three months! Yet even though the town is lively at night and filled with young people dont let this put you off as the music turns off at twelve (the atmosphere stays though!) so it won't disturb you. There are two fantastic clubs in Kardamena Status and Starlight which hold both foam and water parties at cheap prices. 2wentysomething Holiday at Kardamena

Advantages: LOADS to do, FANTASTIC holiday reps, tremendous fun, lots of places to visit
Disadvantages: Bit noisy at times, accom a bit TOO basic, Seva charged TOO much for small bottles of water

Varkas Appartments at Kardamena on Kos Island

Advantages: close to town, close to beach, spotlessly clean, adequate for cheap holiday
Disadvantages: no life, no air conditioning, very basic facilities, bit noisy in the early morning

Varkas Apartments often seems to get a bad press so I thought it was about time their review status was updated: we have recently returned from staying there and, from the experience of myself and my husband, we believe many of those adverse comments are vastly unwarranted. Kardamena hosted a great holiday for us

Advantages: Cheap food and beer. Great weather. Loads to do
Disadvantages: Night flights. Wine quality variable.

...We took a 2 week holiday in Kos last May (2000) We stayed in Kardamena. In short, it was the best holiday we've ever had! We booked it through Co-Op Travelcare and paid £270 each (inc insurance). The tour operator was Kosmar and we stayed at the Cleopatra Apartments. Kardamena is a lovely resort. It has a good mixture of everything, restaurants, sports, bars, clubs (only a few and they have to shut their doors at 12.00am to keep music noise in!) and almost guaranteed weather. My partner and I enjoyed our fortnight in Kos so much that we have booked to go back this May to the same apartment with some friends! We found an excellent curry house whilst out there, I think it was called The Taj Mahal, the dishes were very authentic and we ate there on around 6 days of our 2 week hol!! Kardamena, Kos

Advantages: karamena is very small you can do the whole island in a couple of weeks
Disadvantages: when i first went it was'nt to commercialised now it is very touristy

...When i first went to Kardamena, Kos It was very quiet, well as quiet as it was going to be with a few hundred brits on the island anyway! That was in 2002 and i have been there every year since with the exception of this year ,The atmosphere is warm and friendly and in several places people have recognised me and my partner every time we have been back and that is just fantastic, and i have to say that if that isn't customer care then what is, if after meeting you once they remember you and greet you with open arms every year. If you go you must go to 'TASTEY CORNER' they are open 23 hours a day they close from 6-7 to clean but they offer a wide range of foods for every palet, this place is usually saved for after a few drinks, however for fun and a friendly atmosphere there is the 'TWO JOHNNIE'S' bar on my first trip me...

Kos you should go! Kardamena's great.

Advantages: The atmosphere of relaxed partying and sleeping daytimes
Disadvantages: The tourists there who have beads in their hair - YUK!

...that much else in the way of beach entertainment, excluding the bars and tavernas lining the promenade above. In the evening, Kardamena comes into itself. It's unique to any other resort I've been to. There is no lager louting, no silly british girls being sick (i'm a brit before you start moaning), just no OTT behaviour. There are many bars to drink many sociable drinks in and dance or one can sit on the sea front on the habour. At twelve all the double glazed doors of the bars shut and the music carrys on inside so as not to disturb those trying to sleep. There are a couple of nightclubs which offer dancing until 6 or 7 but my favourite night was spent in a bar on the east of town where I dabbled my toes in the water with the crabs and watched the sun rise with a paraletic bunch of S&M followers and an Irish nurse. ...where do i start with kos... ive been there 5 times now, from the age of 16 - 21... and i honestly have to say that there is something in kos for everyone. having stayed in kardamena every time i have visited kos, and worked in kardamena in 2006, i have some excellent memories and lots of friends there. kardamena however, was but a base for me, and i have made time to visit all of the small towns and beaches around the island. from the little taverna in tingaki, to the busstling scandanavian scene in kos town you are made as welcome as you would ever wish to be in kos, with the locals welcoming you into their lives and showing a genuine interest for you and your friends/family who accompany you. working in kos is great, and a great way to make new friends, and pass the summer months if you are a student, or just get sick...

Cooling Breeze is Bliss in Kos heat

Advantages: breeze keeps you cool, you don't notice the intense heat

...Did I say breeze? Do you know, I didn?t realize how strong the wind would be ? you know, the wind that blows throughout the summer months amongst the islands of the Dodecanese. As I write, I am sat out on the balcony of my apartment on the island of Kos. We have just berthed in the harbor at Kardamena and, today the wind is blowing fierce and strong. Unbelievably, fierce as the wind is, it caresses the skin like velvet ? despite its power! The sky is an intense baby blue, without so much as a hint of a cloud and the temperature is building as the morning progresses. Yesterday was an intense 32o C ? and I have great hopes that the temperatures today will match that with ease. Yesterday we were moored off a beach near San Antonio.
