...Wow! I've just come back from a week in Kos staying in Kardamena and I can honestly say I had the best week of my life! Kardamena is the most lifely area of Kos and I would highly reccomend it to anyone who wants a holiday with fantastic nightlife. So much so me and my friend plan on returning to Kos next summer to work for three months! Yet even though the town is lively at night and filled with young people dont let this put you off as the music turns off at twelve (the atmosphere stays though!) so it won't disturb you. There are two fantastic clubs in Kardamena Status and Starlight which hold both foam and water parties at cheap prices. Varkas Appartments at Kardamena on Kos Island

Advantages: close to town, close to beach, spotlessly clean, adequate for cheap holiday
Disadvantages: no life, no air conditioning, very basic facilities, bit noisy in the early morning

Varkas Apartments often seems to get a bad press so I thought it was about time their review status was updated: we have recently returned from staying there and, from the experience of myself and my husband, we believe many of those adverse comments are vastly unwarranted. My husband and I returned from a two-week holiday in Kardamena on 27th August 2009 where we stayed [for both those weeks] in the Varkas Apartments. Our room was on the 2nd floor and was just a studio - very basic as per the brochure - but that's what we paid for. Cooling Breeze is Bliss in Kos heat

Advantages: breeze keeps you cool, you don't notice the intense heat
Disadvantages: watch you don't burn, the wind is deceptive: use you sun cream more often. IT IS HOT in KOS

...Did I say breeze? Do you know, I didn?t realize how strong the wind would be ? you know, the wind that blows throughout the summer months amongst the islands of the Dodecanese. As I write, I am sat out on the balcony of my apartment on the island of Kos. We have just berthed in the harbor at Kardamena and, today the wind is blowing fierce and strong. Paradise on Kos!

Advantages: Great Setting, Close to Airport, First Class Food, Very Clean, Wonderful!
Disadvantages: None that I can think of!

...where do i start with kos... ive been there 5 times now, from the age of 16 - 21... and i honestly have to say that there is something in kos for everyone. having stayed in kardamena every time i have visited kos, and worked in kardamena in 2006, i have some excellent memories and lots of friends there. kardamena however, was but a base for me, and i have made time to visit all of the small towns and beaches around the island. from the little taverna in tingaki, to the busstling scandanavian scene in kos town you are made as welcome as you would ever wish to be in kos, with the locals welcoming you into their lives and showing a genuine interest for you and your friends/family who accompany you. working in kos is great, and a great way to make new friends, and pass the summer months if you are a student, or just get sick...

Kardamena, Kos

Advantages: karamena is very small you can do the whole island in a couple of weeks
Disadvantages: when i first went it was'nt to commercialised now it is very touristy

...When i first went to Kardamena, Kos It was very quiet, well as quiet as it was going to be with a few hundred brits on the island anyway! That was in 2002 and i have been there every year since with the exception of this year ,The atmosphere is warm and friendly and in several places people have recognised me and my partner every time we have been back and that is just fantastic, and i have to say that if that isn't customer care then what is, if after meeting you once they remember you and greet you with open arms every year. If you go you must go to 'TASTEY CORNER' they are open 23 hours a day they close from 6-7 to clean but they offer a wide range of foods for every palet, this place is usually saved for after a few drinks, however for fun and a friendly atmosphere there is the 'TWO JOHNNIE'S' bar on my first trip me...

Kardamena hosted a great holiday for us

Advantages: Cheap food and beer. Great weather. Loads to do
Disadvantages: Night flights. Wine quality variable.

...We took a 2 week holiday in Kos last May (2000) We stayed in Kardamena. In short, it was the best holiday we've ever had! We booked it through Co-Op Travelcare and paid £270 each (inc insurance). The tour operator was Kosmar and we stayed at the Cleopatra Apartments. Kardamena is a lovely resort. It has a good mixture of everything, restaurants, sports, bars, clubs (only a few and they have to shut their doors at 12.00am to keep music noise in!) and almost guaranteed weather. My partner and I enjoyed our fortnight in Kos so much that we have booked to go back this May to the same apartment with some friends! We found an excellent curry house whilst out there, I think it was called The Taj Mahal, the dishes were very authentic and we ate there on around 6 days of our 2 week hol!! Kos! The place to be

Advantages: Beautiful place!

...stayed with Thomas Cook, we were offered to go on the bar crawls. First bar crawl was in Kardamena. I cannot tell you much about Kardamena; however it was very lively there from what we seen. Lots of pubs and clubs however like most places now lots of PR's trying to get us into the club. About a 5 minute walk from the hotel, you will find bar street. Its just one street that consists of 15 lively bars! The staff are very friendly and always offering free shots, not to good when you're dancing on the bar! We found that West, Heart Rock and wild Bull were great places to drink. Wild Bull had a nice couch area to sit and drink and watch the world pass by! Also, they do But One Get One Free on all cocktails! This is great. If you don't want the lively part of Bar Street, just around the corner there are nice bars to relax. Food in Kos is...

KOS - Isle of Views

Advantages: great beaches, historic places, good nightlife

...I've been to five or six Greek islands, but Kos is still my favourite. Kos is one of the most beautiful and sunniest islands in the Aegean Sea. It is the third biggest of the Dodecanese (meaning twelve in greek) Islands. It has historic monuments, beautiful weather virtually all year round and it's white sand beaches are lapped by crystal clear water. Am I painting an enticing picture so far? Kos Town is the Island's capital and there you can get away from beachlife for a while and steep yourself in some Greek history by visiting the historic monuments. The town has modern broad streets bordered with trees, big squares, and houses with gardens. Kos - an island of two halves!!

Advantages: Some lively parts & some very quiet parts!Rent a quadbike!
Disadvantages: Packed in Summer,do not book with Manos!

It seemed on paper to be the perfect mix - an island which had some unspoilt and beautiful parts, with a busy centre bursting with nightlife and daytime activities. After some extensive looking we chose a holiday with MyTravel, through the ever-useless Lastminute.com. The holiday in total came to £200 each, including flights, transfers, accomodation and insurance. A bargain! However this was mainly due to the fact that we were travelling at the end of May/early June (we have that luxury as students!!)
