Kassiopi - The Loveliest Resort on Corfu!

Advantages: Great Beaches, Friendly People, Fabulous Climate
Disadvantages: Negligible...

...KASSIOPI, CORFU I spent two weeks in Kassiopi, a little fishing village on the Ionian island of Corfu, in September of this year. And quite frankly, it is such a stunningly gorgeous place that I almost have reservations about promoting it in any way whatsoever ?alas, my altruism got the better of me, so here goes! WHY KASSIOPI? Having decided on a holiday in Greece, my husband and I considered renting a villa on Corfu, together with our 2 year-old son & my in-laws. Characteristically enough, we ended up leaving things to the very last minute, but when it came to booking it really was a case of last come, best served! The company we used, Meon, had one last, lonely Villa left languishing on its books in all of Corfu for the dates we wanted to travel. This was Villa Apanemia, in Kassiopi, and so Apanemia it was. I'd never even...

Absolutely Beautiful.

Advantages: Stunning Place.
Disadvantages: Beach.

...On holiday me and my fiancé Dave are not the type of people who like to stay in one place and just explore that area, instead we opt for the more adventurous path of getting out and seeing the sights. When given a relatively small island like Corfu we couldn't help but just pinpoint a place on the map and just go not knowing what it will be like. This is how we ended up in Kassiopi and it was quite a pleasant day we spent there. ----- First impressions: The drive to Kassiopi across the North coast is quite pleasant to be honest and then the sign for Kassiopi kind of takes you by surprise and diverts you from the main road. When we drove into Kassiopi we thought it was very quaint and I did not think there was anything there as we were driving down these small winding streets that were so long. Also as you are driving around...

Kalami- Corfu

Advantages: Amazing, relazing, beautiful.
Disadvantages: Some parts are very chavvy and "english"

...you prefer relaxing and peace, and traditional Greek athmosphere, then Kalami or Kassiopi are your best bets! They have the sun, the sea, and pools, they have the shops and tavernas, but without the screaming stag partyers, the student types on a typical binge holiday!!! And if you do want the odd night of partying, remember the island is only 15 miles from coast to coast, so you'll always be able to get to one of the towns with that within 10 minutes by taxi. Theres plenty to do, whetehr you hire a car and drive around or choose to take coach trips, or even just stay around the beach. I loved it in Corfu, and I'm sure you will too!...

Kassioppi - The family's choice.

Advantages: All you need for a family holiday.
Disadvantages: Winding roads.

...A couple of years ago I took my mother, wife and daughter on a package holiday to the Greek island of Corfu. A thoroughly enjoyable two week holiday. Arrival: Moving through Corfu airport was relatively quick and we were soon aboard our coach and bound for the sea side resort of Kassioppi located in the north east of the island. Transfer: The 20 miles or so from the Airport to Kassioppi is via small winding coastal roads. Inevitable problems passing oncoming traffic rmade it an epic hour long jouney. Weather in June: On our journey from the Airport the clouds opened and the rain fell. Boy did it fall. The deluge lasted a mere two or three minutes and virtually flooded the road. However, once the rain stopped so did the flood. This weather is not untypical in early June. Kassioppi: Most holiday accommodation is...

Dassia, Corfu

Advantages: Nice Quiet Resort, Very Friendly Locals
Disadvantages: Not much in the way of Kids Attractions.

...The Resort Dassia is located at the Northern end of the Greek Island of Corfu. The resort is about 1 mile long, through which travels a very busy main road. All the bars, tavernas, restaurants and shops etc are fronting this main road, most of them being located to the right hand side of the road, heading north. Most of the accommodation is self catering studios and apartments, most of which have a pool, very few have a bar and reception. There are three big hotels: The Corfu Chandris, The Dassia Chandis and the Magna Grecia. The Beach To the left hand side of the road, heading north you will find several dirt tracks, these all lead down to the beach. These dirt tracks are very hard to travel when you are attempting to push a pram, so I presume the same would apply for those accompanying wheelchair users and those who...

FROLICS ON CORFU

Advantages: see opinion
Disadvantages: see opinion

...I'm not sure if I'll be able to keep this op on the subject of the island of Corfu, mainly because of the goings on in our holiday accommodation, but I'll try. If you've picked this up from my account list of opinions, then I apologise for having turned it into a mini "Wish You Were Here", but I'm having really excellent fun in digging out the photo albums to rekindle some of the memories. We spent two weeks on a Mark Warner holiday at the Club Barbati. My husband had a habit of winning the work competitions where the prizes were holidays, so the operators had already been chosen for us, otherwise I'm not sure I'd have booked with them. Not because I think there's anything wrong with them, but they are watersports specialists and I'm one of the world's greatest armchair spectators. Still, we weren't tied to the club, we were free to...

Corel Hotel, Roda Corfu

Advantages: Cheap, good atmosphere
Disadvantages: Old and in need of a tidy up

...Coral Hotel, Roda Corfu INTRO Not knowing where to go for hols this year we decided to convert our Tesco vouchers and go for a free holiday. The one place that always seemed to come up was the Corel Hotel in Corfu. All the pictures and info on the net pointed to a good family run hotel in a nice area of Corfu. LOCATION The hotel is situated on the outskirts of RODA which itself is about an hour and a half from Corfu Town and the airport. The hotel itself is literally a small stones throw from the beach. Alas that's a pebble beach but its still right on the sea. When we arrived I was pleasantly surprised at the location. There's about a 10 mile stretch of water between Corfu and the mountains of Albania. Stick all of this together and you have nothing short of a fantastic location. THE HOTEL The hotel is divided up in to...

The island of Corfu

Advantages: Nice island
Disadvantages: not in Swptember

...I visited the little Island of Corfu in September 1998 and was left with mixed feelings. I have visited several Greek Islands and This ranks lowest on my list. I stayed in the resort village of Kassiopi which is about an hour on a coach from the Airport at Corfu Town. Its a coastal fishing village by trade and sits near the north East Tip of the Island. You can see Albania just across the water only 6 miles away. To the North Coast are the quiet beach resorts of Sidari and Roda. This is for the easy going beach holiday types that want nothing more than to Lie on a beach all week. If you expect anything else you will be dissapointed as there is very little else. If its fun and excitement you want, You need to be in the south part of the Island. The party capital of the island is Kavos. Kavos holds all of the bars...

Marbella Corfu Hotel

Advantages: Can get a good price on good quality
Disadvantages: probably not a five star hotel

...I would suggest that if you need a quick dash to somewhere hot then you could do far worse than Marbella Hotel Corfu. Marbella proudly displays five stars at the end of the drive way, and whilst the rooms and facilities are good I would suggest five stars is a little generous. It is really the rooms which let the place down as they are similar in feel to a good Travel Lodge albeit with air conditioning. We opted for half board which seemed to work out well as there is plenty of food for all tastes - it's buffet style so a large serving area displays the dishes, and guests help themselves to whatever they want. There are lots to choose from, and I'm pleased to say that all of it is good. If you worry about noise at night from clubs / drunk folk having a laugh, then you don't need to worry about it here as the place is very tranquil...

Review of Marbella, Corfu

Corfu Confidential!

Advantages: Flight availability, Cheap Food and Drink, Great weather.
Disadvantages: Mozzies!

...Kassiopi which is has a lovely harbour surrounded by some of the best Tavernas on Corfu, all vying for your custom. At night Kassiopi becomes a favourite spot for romantic couples taking a stroll around the harbour. As you reach the northern coast you have more tourist resorts the biggest of which has to be Sidari . Families with younger children will find Sidari's beach with it's fine sand and shallow warm water a great place to spend the days just lying in the sun or trying one of the many watersport activities on offer, and match this with the abundance of Bars and Tavernas and Sidari is the best all round resort on the Island. When you start to head south again but this time down the West coast , it's not long until you come to "Paleokastritsa" a beautiful horseshoe bay with sandy coves backed by mountains covered with forests, olive...
