A Low Cost Ricoh Printer
Advantages: Price and Speed
Disadvantages: Support Documentations
...With the SP C222DN, Ricoh has entered the market of low cost color laser printers. However with the cutting of post, the quality has also gone down. The print performs decently but not up to the mark.
The problems start as soon as you begin the installation process. There is a huge guide which has all the necessary details. The instructions are pretty clear. At first, you are asked to move to the -'Software Installation guide' for network connection.
You are supposed to get the next set of instructions here, however these instructions are difficult to understand and inadequate. Some very important steps and key points are missing. Along with the printer, you get a CD which contains details about the USB installation. This make things tough as the USB details are only in the CD and thus not easily available. The remaining documents...

105? Is That The Mileage Between Adjustments?
Advantages: Easy to fit
Disadvantages: Tricky to adjust ,at least if it's your first time
...Well, s*** in a bag and punch it, Chris has written a short(ish) one!
If ever there was an item that I?ve bought purely on price, it?s my Shimano 105 ?rear mechanism? for the pushbike I?m currently cobbling together.
The name ?Shimano? is now very nearly ubiquitous*, especially on new bikes bought from Halfords, the PC World of the biking fraternity! That of course is not necessarily good publicity, but since I?m only putting together a ?hybrid? bike, in more senses than one, I?m not into ?Roll-Royce solutions?. A hybrid bike would I suppose have been called a ?tourer? the last time I was into buying a new one, it having fairly slender less knobbly tyres compared to a mountain bike, with similar gears but larger diameter wheels, (almost as large as a racing bike) and straight handlebars.
When I say ?rear mechanism?, if you...

Learning with Ricoh
Advantages: Economic when bought, great intro to SLR
Disadvantages: Outdated now
...for constant battery charging and replacing that make digitals annoying when you spot something that demands a photograph right away.
I've used all kinds of 35mm film in the Ricoh and have a preference for bulk Ektachrome, rolled on in small quantities.
Producing one's own slides from such film in a little developing tank, gives an insight to the photographic process that is a learning curve all of its own.
The camera is heavy by modern standards - but just convince yourself that weight is quality in this type of situation.!
It has the usual facility for tripods, and flash, and all the range of colour and special effects filters.
This is the system that allows for real creativity - not just standard digital alteration.
I use the digital snappers very happily - see review on FujiPix 610 - but that Ricoh was photography as real art.!...

Type R? Type Rubbish!
Advantages: road handling
Disadvantages: after sales care, uncomfortable ride, noisy
...I regret ever setting eyes upon my Type R. I purchased a fully serviced 53-plate Honda Civic Type R from a Honda dealership in Grantham in November 2006. My reasons for choosing Honda was because I deemed them to be reliable and I went through a dealership specifically for warranty cover. After 4 months of owning the car, in March 2007 there was a tremendous clanging which could be heard over the radio. The car was recovered by AA the next day who took it to Honda to be looked at. The AA man discovered that the noise was down to a lack of oil in the car ? it had burnt 4.2 litres of oil in 3,000 miles which Honda stated is normal for a Type R! Honda wanted to strip the engine at my own personal cost to see if the car needed a new engine costing £8,000. Honda advised me that this would not be covered under warranty and I would have to bear...

MG ZR 105 - Cheap Thriller
Advantages: Cheap, looks good, performs well
Disadvantages: dated interior, parts not produced in mass
...The MG ZR 105 was the first car I personally owned, opting to go for the + edition, it came with electric windows, sun roof, and central locking and on alloys as standard. So from the off it's a stylish little number with the goodies list continuing with half vinyl leather effect seats, digital dash, roof spoiler and a front splitter fitted too.
This is a 1.4 K series engine knocking out around 103bhp, a lot more than other 1.4's available on the second hand market including some of the vw golf range.
Overall the car is very attractive, available in MK1 and a facelift MK2 model, my bias would suggest that MK1 is more athstetically pleasing and indeed many would agree, those who own the facelift model likely would not.
The steering of the car is nice and if you give it enough throttle you'll feel a new lease of life in every...

What Type-R You?
Advantages: Performance, Handling, Practicality, Price
Disadvantages: Insurance, Comfort
...Let's get this straight from the start. Some people see driving simply as a means of getting from A to B as comfortably as possible, others see driving as a means of getting from A to B with as much kit in the car as possible, yet more folks see driving as a chore to be tolerated and finally there's those to whom driving is a pleasure in itself. The Honda Civic Type-R is not a car for comfort. It is not a car for lugging huge loads (although it is actually rather spacious) and it's not someting you would want to drive with a heavy heart. Oh no. The Civic Type-R is an out-and-out drivers car, designed to tweak every last ounce of enjoyment from even the most mundane of runs down to the corner shop.
The R is for Racing and the Civic Type-R is the latest in the distinguished Type-R line, following in the wake of the now legendary Integra...

Pioneer DVR-105 Internal DVD-RW Drive
Advantages: High DVD/CD compatibility after firmware update, it's Pioneer need another reason?
Disadvantages: Before flash update the drive sucks, 4 speed is dated now
...of electronic entertainment, not as big as Sony but they can hold their own. The drive itself is very plain on the front and is light grey instead of the classic beige colour of PCs. Although it's simple, it isn't ugly or boring to look at at all, a very nice drive to have seen on your PC. This is a DVD-RW drive so it is only compatible with DVD-R and DVD-RW media, not the DVD+R and DVD+RW (attention to the - and the +). This is important because you don't want to be paying for the wrong type of DVD discs.
Since this is one of the earlier drives, it can only write to one layer discs (4.7GB discs). This drive is an IDE drive so any standard PC can have it installed for immediate DVD reading and writing. Well of course it depends if the owner of the PC is knowledgable in the arts of PC upgrading.
This drive is the DVR-105 drive which is the OEM...

Honda Civic Type-R (2005)
Advantages: Speed, Handling, Engine Note, i-Vtec
Disadvantages: Old looks, Sometimes harsh ride
...I have owned a Honda Civic Type R (2005 Model) for around six months now. I had many concerns about the car before buying it, however not one of these concerns still hangs over my ownership. I chose to buy a red example, but this is personal preference.
I was concerned about the road noise of the car, given the stiff suspension and low profile tyres, as I do a fair amount of motorway miles. So far, I've barely noticed. I don't find the road noise too intrusive, only on the most harsh of road surfaces. Even then, the sweet engine note is more than enough compensation.
The hard suspension is a bit of an issue over speed bumps - not to the point that you hear bottoming out noises, but it will certainly throw you around if you don't slow down. The low-set stance of the car has also caused me to scrape my front splitter (lower bumper...

Didn't Ricoh used to manage Arsenal?
Advantages: stunning pictue quality, large memory capacity, easy to use, anti-vibration feature
Disadvantages: price, look and availability
...The first thing many readers will think when looking at this review is "oh my god" how ugly is that camera?", and possibly as a secondary thought, "who the hell are Ricoh, didn't he once manage Arsenal?". The answers to these questions are so obviously yes, it is a ugly mother of a camera and no, that was Bruce Rioch, but I stray from the subject matter so on with my thoughts on the camera.
Cost & Availability:
I will admit here, I don't own the Ricoh Caplio R6, but I have used it regularly now for over 4 months both larking around and while giving serious demonstrations to the potential buyers. More often than not the price is a big turn off with most customers. We are an independent electrical retailer and we have this item tagged at £279.99 in our shop but this does include a 2GB memory card.
The cheapest I have seen this...
