My Mean Green Kawasaki

Advantages: Powerful, fast, good looks
Disadvantages: heavy, long reach and long legs required

After cutting my teeth on a VFR400R (an absolutely gorgeous bike) I thought it was time to move up to something a bit more powerful. At the time I weighed 13.5 stone, despite me being short at 5'7". 2001 KAWASAKI ZX6R J1

Advantages: SUPER GOOD LOOKS.
Disadvantages: BIT THIRSTY.

...Ive owned many 600 superbikes over the last few years but i think that you will have to go a long way to beat the zx6-r j1/j2 models. i would agree that the kawasaki's are not every ones cup of tea but having grown up riding ar50's then stepping up to ar125's then when i was old enough going up a stage went onto a zzr400 this was a very good comfortable bike but being a 400 lacked power. thats when i decided to go crazy and go for a 600, there is many models, manafacturers out there and tell you the truth they all looked good, but being a kawasaki man got drawn between a zx6-r or a honda cbr600rr. I chose a Y reg 2001 j1 model with 6500 miles on the clock 1 previous owner (which was a sales executive from a local kawasaki dealers) so its been well looked after. the basic guidelines on prices are for a 1998/2001 model in a1 cond £3500...

My Kawasaki ZX6-R (2003 version)

Advantages: excellent torque and performance and excellent chassis
Disadvantages: riding position can be a strain after a fir bit of miles on a trip

...speechless. In fact my dad rides a Suzuki GSXR-1000 K2 and he went out and bought an Akrapovic straight after he heard the difference between the stock exhaust on mine and then the aftermarket Akrapovic exhaust... Since I have bought my Kawasaki I have added a steering dampener, braided front back brake lines, Akrapovic Exhaust, smaller number plate and smaller indicators. I am EXTREMELY HAPPY with this bike and feel I definatly made the right choice over all the other 600 on the market. The close second choice for me was the 2003 to present version, Honda CBR 600RR......

Here comes the summer!

...After learning to ride and riding an old Kawasaki GT550 (briefly I moved on to a Suzuki GSX750. This was a beast but nothing compared to my 2004 Kawasaki ZX6r 636. From the moment I set eyes on the bike sitting in the shop I loved it. It just looked mean, it's sharp headlights and gold grilled air intake between the front lights and the standard bubble growled out to be bought. So a short test ride later saw me return with a small deposit and my leathers. The bike is truly amazing. From it's accelleration, speed and handling, to it's good looks, smart engine and querky toys such as the lap timer and gear change light make this bike something I have only ever dreamt about. For me, finding such a good bike wasn't easy. I'm 6'2 and approx 18 stone but the 636 handles like a dream, out pacing many bigger bikes due to it's weight...

Wow, just got it and it's a bit mad.

Advantages: fast, torquey, badge of honour, superb
Disadvantages: not for the faint hearted

...I have only had it a week, so this can be an ongoing review (maybe). After much umming and ahhhing I traded in my ZX9R and RVF 400RR (which I miss badly!!) and stumped up another grand to get the 12R. Its an X reg so its full power (pre 186mph legislation). Its also that lovely Kawasaki Green. It came with braided Goodridge hoses which provide mucho stoppo when needed and a Rhencullen undertray, which has tidied up the arse end nicely. The OE screen has gone and there is a green double bubble to keep the wind over me. A carbon fibre rear hugger keeps the crud away from the rear shock and a nice little Scottoiler keeps that chain lasting "6 times longer". A good deal I thought. Missing one thing though... Blueflame Evo 3 Titanium Oval exhaust. £260 from the great guys at Taz Motorcycles. Now we're talking. Putting...

An ace all-rounder with appeal

...I bought my ZX-6R brand spanking new in May 98 at £6600 which was a snip then. It was one of the first G1 models, that was when Kawasaki revised the model substantially from the F3 I think. You can tell the difference because the F3 is squarer in appearance. Anyway, I held on to it for nearly a year in which I did eleven thousand miles around the Highlands of Scotland. Given the severe winter we had and the fact I was in Oz for a month that amounted to a pretty high daily mileage - testimony to the comfort of the machine. I used to get up early and go for a 120 mile blast before work - how sad! Some serious points though: Performance: For a 600cc on your average road the bike will keep up with anything. A review on my 1995 1.9TD Citroen ZX Mephis

Advantages: Economical to run and cheap to buy. Fairly fast. Good engine. Reliable. "Biodiesel ready".
Disadvantages: A little noisy. Not fashionable.

I posted on a forum of car enthusiasts, asking what I should go for. I said I had £750 to spend on a Diesel and wanted reliability and economy above all else. The responses were all on the same lines: buy a Peugeot 306 with an XUD9 engine, or a Citroen ZX with the same engine.
